So let me get this straight... our former Master of Air ditched his "favorite" element for Water of all things, and the current master doesn't even want his job after less than a week. Simply amazing. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you... the worst Element.
*does a soft golf clap*
I think the problem is that
's popularity wasn't really shown (see my poll), which is why it's such an underrepresented element in the game (except for the weapon, FFQ, and Flying Weapon).
not cool [shakeshead]not cool.
Without air we would have no animate weapon,we would lose our best creature control card in the game[owls eye],we wouldn't have firefly queen[that deals a blow to rainbows, and come to think of it so would owls eye mabey not a big one but still a blow to rainbows],fog sheild cheap and only 10% less than dusk mantle, unstable gas deals good damage and has minor creature control, thunder storm like a cheaper weaker version of rain of fire[rof costs 7 for 3 damage to all creatures], thunder storm deals 1 damage to all creatures for 2 so with 3 thunderstorms it only costs 6 quanta do do the same damage, shock wave all you need to do is freeze a creature and you can instantly kill it.So there you have a few good reasons why air isn't the worst element.
Animate Weapon - notice how the UPGRADED version doesn't even
require quanta. That's just a slap in the face to air.
Owl's Eye - For killing creatures? Definitely. But an Eternity can do the exact same thing as true creature control, and can be used to deny even False Gods the opportunity to do anything resourceful if there are two Eternities on the field (with an Animate Weapon, again, without using
quanta)
Fog Shield - I had an argument with Xinef about this one, but I agree it's fairly good and cheap. Too bad it's not completely dependable compared to say, Permafrost Shield or Bone Wall.
Thunder Storm - unless you spam them, they're not effective as creature control unless you're facing a RoL + Fractal + Hope deck
Shockwave - Requires synergy with
to be super effective
Unstable Gas - Defeated by any spell-reflective shield, and the only permanent of the alchemy cards (which means it can be stolen or destroyed)
...Firefly Queen - Okay, gotta give this one to you.
All in all, Air
does have some good cards, but that doesn't mean that its current skills are as strong as others. Air may not be abysmal to play in a deck (whether it'd be mono, duo, trio, or even as part of a rainbow), but currently in my opinion (and according to Yala's poll), it's not a strong element when faced with other cards, and has various counters. It's the 'worst' in that sense, but know that I don't hate
, I'm just disappointed with its current options (until Zanz busts out some magical goddess card that piques my interest again in
).
