Welcome, all challengers, to this season's Core Four PVP Event. PVP Events are much like larger, longer versions of the weekly PVP tournament, but with some restricted deckbuilding rules. Core Four EVENT RULES
1. JoiningWho can join the Core Four event? There are no restrictions. Anyone from a beginner or a seasoned veteran is welcome to join a Core Four event!
Signing upSign up by posting to this thread between now and 23:59 GMT on September 3rd.
Double EliminationThe Core Four Event will be a Double Elimination event.
2. Getting ReadyBuilding decksThe only deckbuilding restrictions in the Core Four Event are:
1) All Decks must be exactly 30 cards.
2) No non-Pillar cards outside of the Core Four elements (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) are allowed. Yes, that means no Other cards.
3) Marks, Pendulums and Pillars of other elements are allowed.
4)
You cannot use the same element more than once in each round! In other words, if you play a
/
deck in the first fight, you MUST play either
or
in the 2nd fight -- and if you lose, you must play the other in the 3rd fight. This means you cannot play two dual-decks in a row, because you will then be forced to play mono-Pillars in your 3rd fight.
MatchesOnce all players have signed up, Essence will make brackets like a normal tournament, and announce matches in this thread. Players will then have three days to play thier matches. After three days, Essence will announce the next set of matches. Matches will be best-of-three.
Winning a MatchDesynchs will be replayed unless both players agree that one player was clearly going to win the match. When a match is won, the winner will post the results to this thread
along with each deck he used during the match., and then the loser will ALSO post each deck he used during the match. Keep in mind, it's critical that you copy-paste your deck code before each game, and then post them
in the same order as they were used in the fights, so that accurate scoring is possible. Failure to do this will constitute cheating (see below.)
DetailsFinding an opponentYou are responsible for finding and arranging a match with your opponent.
BCC a copy of all PMs intended to set up a match to Essence. That way, he can tell who is making an effort and who isn't. Players who aren't will be automatically defeated by their active opponent at the end of each three-day round. Players who are both inactive OR both active and cannot agree on a time will both be eliminated.
Changing your deckYou are allowed to change your deck (and mark) in any way you choose between any fight, but you only have
3 minutes to do so. If it takes you longer than 3 minutes, it is considered a forfeit and the other player goes to next round. (For this reason, it's probably wise to come up with decks before the event starts and have them ready to copy-paste into the Import/Export window between fights.)
ScoringSpecial Scoring System --When you win a match, you gain points equal to 30+(the number of upgraded cards in your opponent's deck)-(the number of upgraded cards in your deck.) The person with the most score (not the most victories) at the end of the tournament wins. Yes, that means that an unupgraded deck that beats a completely-upgraded deck scores 60 points -- and a completely upgraded deck that beats a completely unupgraded deck scores 0.
To correct the disparity in ladder size between winner's and loser's brackets, wins that take place in the winner's bracket are worth 30 points points per match. The player who defeats the entire tournament gains a 60-point bonus to his score. 2nd place gets 45, and 3rd place gets 30. However, regardless of placement in the brackets,
the player with the highest SCORE at the end, regardless of wins and losses, wins the event.CheatingWe take all kind of cheating very seriously. If you get caught cheating, you automatically lose and will be
banned indefinitely from all Elements community PvP and PvE events. So please play fair.
4. Other rulesWarning systemIf a player quits mid-event for
any reason, or disrupts the event in
any way, he will receive a warning. If you get 3 warnings in a single season, you will be banned from all PvP events until the end of the NEXT season.
If you have any questions about the rules, please post them here. Thank you.
