We had planned for a fractal deck, fractal pheonix, whatever. We had also planned for quints. We figured stall and the shield would counter both, and we pray for deckout. (Extra thanks to Essence and Bojengles for the deck help. You guys rock!) I in no way expected fractal scarab, and knew if he every broke the lock it was game over.
First game he fractaled too fast. My devourers were eaten easily, they didn't have time to stop his valuable quanta. I got crushed.
Second game, he didn't draw any aether pillars for a long time. I got my devourers in place, and stole his aether pillars. By the time he could afford fractal it was turn five, and I had enough heals to master him.
Third game, exact same situation but with time pillars. I kept his scarab count too low to eat my devourers until I had three, at which point statistically he'd never have gravity quanta. I stole any time pillars he played, and stalled until I got the shield. He managed to fractal his scarab mid-game, but couldn't drop them fast enough, and couldn't ever eat my devourers. By the time he ever had gravity quanta, he had 24 life from my vampire stiletto, and I had enough to drain life him to death. Another mastery.
Excellent games. I'm amazing my lock held the whole time.
