SOSa SOD Poison stall [arena] [platinum] https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=33005.msg417012#msg417012

Im pretty sure ive have seen decks similar to this somewhere, but i cant find them and I think most of them were supposedly made for silver and ai3 or 4. I wanted to post my version of this because it is what i use to farm platinum (and false gods when i dont feel like playing platinum). I think it is more speciallized than other decks ive seen.

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
710 710 710 710 710 710 710 710 718 718 718 718 718 718 71a 71a 71a 71b 71b 71u 71u 7km 7km 7km 7q9 7q9 7q9 7q9 7q9 7q9 8pq

the two ?? are shard of sacrifice.

You use the sundials and bonewalls to stall while you build up poison counters on the opponent and then use Shard of sacrifice to stall those last 5 turns and get an em. This deck is NOT fast. however once get use to the timing of playing the cards at the right time the win chance is high and if you are playing certain rushes the chance for an EM is really good. I also think this is more accessible to most players because it doesnt require 6 of any specific rare card.

This deck actually makes me play elements less because an EM win in platinum at 170 something health is like 500 electrum, so in like five games i usually have enough for an upgrade.

main weaknesses:

purify (duh)
miracles
steals of your sundials. (you cant cyles through your deck as quickly and your stall will break down)
pulverizers (kills both your arsenic and your sundials)
nightmare (fills your hand and again breaks your stall down)
healing based stalls

main strengths:
creature rush (you have sundials and SOSa to prevent them from doing anything)
shield based stalls (like dimensional shield)
cc based stalls (you have no creatures)

Looks like a nice deck!

Any stats? Aren't there a lot of cards that can destroy this deck (nightmare, steal, explosion, quarta stall, etc.) in platinum? Also seems quite vulnerable to bad draws, since you purely rely on poison to kill your opponent (although it looks like sundial helps :))

Yes. any fight against a Mono or duo darkness deck sucks, although in this case its mostly depended on how close to the top of your deck all your poison is, cause its just going to prevent your cycling through your deck with sundials.

however explosion isnt a big deal because it will usually go after either your bonewall  or your arsenic, of which you have three, or your pillars, as long as it doesnt target your sundials you are usually fine.

however this deck is semi independent of draw. if you dont get damage up front, you get a lot of stall cards instead, and if you get alot of damage you dont have to worry as much about stall. 1 or 2 upgraded death pillars is enough to run this deck on.  because other than the bone walls everything in this deck costs 2  :death.  in most games you are going to be winning in the last 5 turns, this is designed to be a stall deck, so what you get in your opening hand ususally wont affect you that much.

And no i dont have stats. I guess I could start keeping some for you if you would like.

I prefer 6 SoSa, maybe instead of the sundials.
Sundials last 1 turn, SoSa 2.
Sundials can be destroyed, SoSa can't.
So you can better you 6 SoSa :-)

Like he says: I also think this is more accessible to most players because it doesnt require 6 of any specific rare card.

Granted, 6 SoSa may be better, yet most people have a better chance of starting with this deck then after grinding for shards moving up to a 6 SoSa deck.

In general yes SOSa is better than sundials. but I dont know if you can exactly say that it is better in all situations. especially for this deck. this deck has such a limit on damage that if your opponent relies on attack based effect (for example venom or vampire) sometimes it is better to play the sundial and have one round where they dont attack at all rather than two turns where they heal you, but then also heal themselves. Ill post a picture of what i mean. as you can see, the opponent is playing vamps, if i had played SOSa i would have gotten an extra turn of stall. but they would have healed for so much that it would have been unlikely that i could have killed them with this deck. you have to be careful suggesting SOSa as the solution for everything.
