My current variant I'm using to test Half Blood Grinding:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5j2 5j2 5lk 5lk 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61u 622 622 622 626 7gq 7hi 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7k2 7k4 7k6 7q9 7q9 7q9 808 8pp

This thing is truly wicked! Having played more or less solid for about the last hour since I got back from work, I've only lost two games.

Of the wins, most were EM. It isn't guaranteed, but it is a VERY high percentage.

One of them to being unable to find a photon in time. The other to lack of fractal in time.

The first was just no love from RNG. The second one was due to QC from a nasty earth-gravity deck that had an early pulvy and lots of Earthquakes.

I think I may have found a replacement for the Limitless Speed OTK deck, my previous AI4 grinder.

This deck doesn't fair as well against FG and arena, since those often have well counters built in, but AI4 is random enough that it usually cant mount a counter in time.
Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?
If your zombie plan is
kill -9 `ps l | awk '{print $2" "$3" "$9}' | grep "Z" | awk '{printf("%s ",$2)}'`

Been playing with something like this:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5lk 5lk 5lk 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 622 622 622 622 622 6rv 6rv 6rv 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 8pp

Could probably use a lobo or two.

I don't think nymphs, purify, sanctuary, or salvagers are really needed, especially seeing as how they're foreveralone.

Tried the above version +1 Purify +1 Lobo +1 pillar (But all cards Upgraded) in PvP2. Beat a deck centered around SoFos. 1) Let opponent believe this is basic RoL/Hope and I can't find my dragons and I chose the wrong mark FML 2) Pwn with surprise SoP Trap! It was so awesome watching little RoL pound through Gravity Pulled SoFo after Gravity Pulled SoFo followed by a Rage Quit!!! :D

What Gods is this deck effective/not effective against?

Or more simply, what's the tolerance of CC/PC control?
A player of cards, Elements cards that is.

Just a side note: I run -1 Aether Tower, +1 Electrocutor as a hard counter to Fire Queen. The deck can still fail against a super early Owl's Eye/super late Electrocutor, but if you start Lobotomizing within the first 3-5 turns, it's an easy win.

This also hard counters Ferox, provided you get Hope up to 12+ damage reduction.

Miracle is a little more difficult because of Blessings, but still very possible.

Hermes is slightly difficult, but possible. I run a different version with more Salvagers, and you MUST draw an early Electrocutor to prevent Lava Golems from growing to insane amounts of damage.

Should be a pretty good counter to Hecate, but beware of Steal, as that won't trigger salvaging. Maybe a SoP-less, regular RoL/Hope would be better. Also, Hecate WILL Liquid Shadow your RoLs. And Rage Elixirs go right through your Hope.

Can work against Seism, but it all depends on his RT/Quicksand draws. (RT isn't that bad). He has no way of controlling your Shard of Patience, or of piercing your Hope. Once Hope > 13 Damage Reduction, you win. Possibly a trio with Protect Artifacts?

Can counter Eternal Phoenix, but you need more Salvagers. autoloss if he Firestorms too early. The oracle counter on the EtG community wiki is more effective.

Destiny has better counters.

Graviton is extremely difficult due to growing, Unstoppable creatures.  And Otyughs. Graviton is the hard counter to this deck. Auto-Quit unless you get a perfect draw can win, which would be: Shard of Patience, Electrocutor, and Phase Salvager. Play all at once. Lobotomize everything that even blinks. But if he gets an early Otyugh, and defends it's skill with Explosions, you lose.

Chaos Lord.. just depends. Mutants with Steal/Destroy will ruin your day. Overall, Poison Dials is a better counter.

Dream Catcher depends, too. I just faced him, and he got a turn five Quint'd Purple Nymph. Ouch.

Scorpio: Hard. That's all. Pretty stinking hard, and we have better counters in the form of Poison Dials.

Serket: Better counters in the form of Poison Dials/Wings/Dimensional Shield, but still possible. A decently early Hope would shut her down completely. I recommend -1 Electrocutor, -1 Aether Tower, +2 Purifies for her. So, this could be modified into a hard-Serket-counter, but why bother when we already have those?

Neptune: Get an Electrocutor out before anything else, Lobotomize any Squids, then make sure you have these three cards in hand: Shard of Patience, Ray of Light, Fractal. Play in that order to win. Once the RoLs have grown beyond 4 HP, and you're lobotomizing all the squids, you win. Well, if you get a Hope. I just lost because of no Hope.

Rainbow: has Steals. I prefer to skip.

Lionheart: Crusader + Eternity... is rage inducing. If he gets that combo out too early, it's an autoquit. If you get tons of RoLs out on the field early, it's probably doable. Idk about Electrocutor here, though.

TL;DR? New Old Times is good against anything the old (or new) Instosis is good against (with a couple exceptions).

Doing a necro bump here - though the deck is still relevant I think...

In the original ROLHOPE I always splashed in a (or two) sanctuary: is handy against most false gods, and often left out 1 hope. (The idea is that a sanctuary early game is actually nice & playable; while a hope in starting hand is annoying, and two a waste). It was also useful against chaos lord (? I think, the one with the dimensional shield). As it would always steal sanctuary, negating his own dimensional shield.

However that runned originally (if I remember correctly) with 4 hopes, and this has already 3 hopes. So what would be left out for a sanctuary?

EDIT to above: Lionheart should be "easy". Remember you don't HAVE to play the new style: you can still fractal his crusaders, this was also the key in the old time rolhope. The "trick" was however to simply be faster than him: either with damage or lobotimize his osiris > pharaoh > scarabs > crusaders...

Im Actually using this:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5lk 5lk 5lk 5lk 7hi 7hi 7hi 7hi 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 80e 80e 80i 80i 80i 80i 80i 8pp

Lookin superficially on the topic i see most are using variations.

I'd be glad to insert in the deck these cards: holy flash, miracle, sanctuary, mirror shield, purify, light dragon/archangel.

Miracle is there to save your day, and when you're not in troubles, with holy flash it grants you an EM. Sanctuary is there for a bit of healing and sometime substitution of holy flash, but mainly its reason is to avoid quanta issues, expecially early game. Mirror shield and Purify are the replies for commons decks in arena, wich tends to be an issue for this deck: decks based on immortal creatures+SoW, and decks based on poison. At last, altho this is really the less important, light/dragon or archangel cud boost your dmg when you've tons of light quanta but are in short of turns to beat down the opponent, let's say for example against another deck with an average 12/13+ of hope, wich cud slow you enough to deck out.

PLS, id be glad to receive some suggestions wether and how to insert those cards or not.. i find my self in trouble at estimating if those "extra chance" provided by those cards wud affect main deck effectiveness too much to be worth em, or not.

THank

Been running the following variation on the deck in Arena Gold for EMs (all the electrum!).

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5ia 5lj 7hi 7hi 7hi 7hi 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7k0 7k2 7k2 7k2 7k4 7k4 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 80e 80i 80i 80i 80i 80k 8pp

Farms it well, except against Shards of Freedom decks, which have been hit or miss thus far.

I read the OP and ran off to trainer for some testing. I thought that novas and PAs would be pretty good because the novas allow you to switch to aether mark so that you don't need as many pillars. I thought I'd post what I came up with:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 5lk 5lk 5lk 77i 77i 77i 7hi 7hi 7hi 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 808 808 808 808 80i 80i 80i 80i 80i 81q 81q 81q 8pu

Not sure whether being stronger against steals makes it better than salvagers... they are certainly a more elegant solution than shoving in a load of novas and don't hurt the focus of the deck as much: this version does not have a lot of room for extra cards. On the other hand, it's always fun to play a nova when you would have been one quantum off a hope shield or a fractal.

Any thoughts?
