Just a single turn is enough, to get enough quanta to play a Gnome using just the Mark.

Since the start of war #10 I had been working on a way to deal with the worst problem Immolation rushes tend to have: they are inconsistent. Although still having a weakness towards Reverse Time and Bone Wall, this variant seeks to increase consistency by having 8 potential Immolation fodder candidates. When you do not draw enough Immolation + Lava Golems, you can use Gnomes to generate enough quanta for Graboids before Immolating them for the time quanta needed to evolve these Graboids. It sacrifices little in speed by still being able to pull off the occasional 4 turn win fully upgraded, while being more consistent than your traditional Immolation rushes. These Immolation rushes tend to have 6 Immolation fodder, possibly with Phoenixes as re-usable fodder. Alas, you need Immolation + zero cost creature + a source of Fire quanta to be able to play one to begin with!

Now, I figured I'd share this deck (the optimized general use version) for others to enjoy the speed of Immolation rushes without constantly agonizing over bad draws, enjoy!

For possible modifications: the Phoenix, Explosions, Deflagrations and Fire Pendulums could easily be swapped by cheap cards that don't cost Earth or Fire quanta to play. Fog Shield, Hammer, Vampire Stiletto, Arsenic, Lycanthrope, those kinds of cards. These variants are built with the very idea of permanent control having no effect on them, though. 2 cost cards also have the disadvantage of requiring 2 Immolations to be played to boot.

Indeed, on my NBC alt Aethofuze I came to the same conclusion that 8 fodders is great to have if you can. It's even better if you have MP's since they don't die easily, so I made this with the ups I had:

Deck import code : [Select]
5f2 5f2 6rk 77g 77g 7dg 7dg 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dq 7dq 7dq 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ds 7du 7f2 7f2 7f2 7f2 7f2 809 809 8pm

And looking back, the ol' classic vNG packed 4 MP's and 4 Balls to get to that nice number 8 as well. Now, this variant I had to make was largely because I only had 3 Golems, but it turns out speed trumps PC in Bronze for gain/hour.

I still prefer MP's because you're not spending an extra card for Cremation, but the Cremation nerf has certainly hurt. At least when you're not packing any towers or pends, you won't end up with surplus :fire if you're only running Destroyers. On the other hand, towers/pends often let you play another creature one turn earlier and you become less reliant on the combo draw.

The Grabby/Golem combo is always nice for beating CC because you have two ways of doing it: an early Golem growing out of range or Grabbys staying burrowed/unevolved. I do tend to prefer having a weapon with this kind of gameplan though, as it synergizes so well with it. More Grabbies than MP's is certainly better against Bonewall at least.

Fully upgraded Towers and upgraded Pendulums and Minor Phoenixes do have some advantages, but this one was basically built with as few upgrades as possible initially, where MPs are not much of an option and Pillars/Pendulums are slow. Maybe I should put that variant up top instead? AI3/Bronze is mostly just (enjoyable) target practice: PvP is where it was built for. Since a single Fog/Dim/Wings quickly ruins this fun, pc feels needed for that, too!
In fact, I just changed -1 Graboid -1 Phoenix +2 Minor Phoenix. Playing the unupgraded Phoenix always felt like a mistake because of what little quanta you'd leave for Destroyers you might draw.

Not having a weapon or relying on other permanents mainly helps when certain people run Darkness/Rainbow decks with pesky Steals.

Higurashi wouldn't gavel be better than longsword? Only one extra random quanta and chances are it just takes one of these :entropy :water :gravity :light :death :air :aether :darkness :life which are otherwise useless by-products of the cremation
