Well, I've been seeing a lot of people complaining that Rainbow decks were too strong, too overpowered. Bah. I decided to go out and not only design a deck that could defeat MOST Rainbow decks that I've tested it against (quite a few), but it is also a viable PvP deck (Fake Gods will slaughter it, so don't bother). I have two different builds for the same deck, based on different playing styles.

This verson of the deck has less Permanent control, and more creature control.

This one has more Permanent control, but less creature control. It also has an extra attacker, the Lava Golem, which is optional.

The point of these decks is to deny pillars/towers and support Permanents, such as Empathic Bond, Sundial, Hourglass, Boneyard, weapons, and shields as early as possible. A good tip is to steal a Quantum Pillar/Tower early game before using an Earthquake/Quicksand, so you can have early protection against Devourers. The ONLY shield that is a threat is Bone Wall, but with it's high cost, it's not likely to appear unless they're running Entropy Mark and Supernovas. >.>

I've play-tested both, and they both work fine. I never once had a pillar problem, and the only game I came close to losing was against FFQ because I was still using an older prototype.

Comments and suggestions are welcomed. I'm not sure how well it works when not upgraded, but I do know that upgrading the dragons is optional. The reason I upgraded them, however, was that I thought their increase in stats from the upgrade outweighed the cost increase. Oh, and probably the most important aspect of this deck is that it's very fun to play. It's so satisfying to sit there with a bunch of pillars while you're opponents have none. =D

Deck 3
Mark of Gravity



Another idea I had. I took out one Basalt Dragon, but it plays just as well with the extra Dragon. Adding the Pulverizers gives much more Permanent control and damage, but they are fragile, and can be destroyed or stolen easily. Add an Enchant Artifact or two if you'd like. The Gravity Forces are meant for creature control. Each of these decks have different strengths and weaknesses, and I wish I could cover all of them without making it a Rainbow deck, but I know it's not likely to happen...nothing against rainbow decks, I was just trying to make some decks that weren't. o-o

A couple of things..

1. I don't think you need Steal. You don't need to get opponents permanents, all you need to do is destroy them. This way you don't need to take those Darkness Pillars.

2. Take Pulverizer. A couple of them. They are perfect for this kind of deck.


With Pulverizer you need to change your mark to Gravity which is perfect because you can then also take Gravity Force.

Also I don't think you need Earthquake. Who cares how much quantum they have if they are totally shut down.

Originally, the deck didn't run weapons or shields, so I added the steals to be able to take them from other players to prevent them from killing me too quickly. Also, the Earthquakes were meant to shut down quanta production, but you're right, if I replaced the Darkness with Fire, and used Explosions, that would work better.

Btw, if you checked my next post below the OP, you'll see that I added a Gravity Version as well. o-o

Ah, so you did :) I only saw decks 1 and 2. Too much coffee I guess :)

Using Explosions works but I still feel Pulverizer does the same thing, only better. If you get Pulverizer with Protect Artifact early on, you cannot lose. Mark of Gravity enables you to use Pulverizer every turn and you can quickly destroy all permanents of your opponent, forcing him to draw only one card each turn which guarantees your victory. Without Explosion, Lava Golem and Rain of Fire, you only need to take Earth Pillars. Dragons do the same thing as Lava Golem and Rain of Fire can be replaced with multiple Gravity Force.

Next I think I'll try some other element but I think Earth or Gravity is the only way to go because of Pulverizer.

Anyways, thanks for this great idea. Playing rainbow was getting boring.

Didn't you have problems with having only 2 Protect Artifact? I found that playing Pulverizer without Protect Artifact was a mistake because very ofter the opponent would steal it (most rainbows have 3-4 Steal).

I took an extra Pulverizer and 4 Protect Artifacts because I wanted to make sure I get both cards early in the game. Without Protected Pulverizer this deck doesn't work imo. I just wait for them both to pop up and play them at the same time.

Also your amount of Dragons seems a bit high. 6 dragons in a deck of 32 cards? That's a lot. I doubt you can afford to pay even 4 of them before the match is over. I've found that my opponent is usually dead after 2 Dragons (sometimes 3) so I don't think there is a need to have more than 4 in deck (1 extra in case it's the bottom card).

You're right, my original version was flawed, but I still think that running five dragons and three Enchant Artifacts works just fine for me. Or instead of another Dragon, run an extra Gravity Pull. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with your build, but I think that there should be room for improvement and editing based on individual play styles and what people think they seem to be up against the most. o-o

Sure, if it works, it works.

Have you tried dropping couple of Earthquakes and taking more Pillars? That might help you get those Dragons faster on the table.

I scrapped the earthquakes (in my Earth/Gravity, not in the above decks). You're right, it works better without them.
