You should have read that this deck can only beat around 30-33% of FG so why complain?
- Yes my mistake. I thought "can" means the deck will beat said FGs with some consistency. Perhaps it 'can' beat them when you get perfect starting hand and the FG has poor starting hand. Why bother upping those two cards, when unupped mono aether has same if not better odds?
Because unupped Mono Aether does
not have the same odds. Let's take a look at four of the easier False Gods:
Miracle: With Essence's deck, you can mass-PU large creatures for a sudden surprise kill, which will prevent Miracle from using Miracle. Mono Aether would have a hard time doing this, and would have to deal with all the Miracles, which would lead to a deckout.
Ferox: Without the Otyughs in Essence's deck, it will be nigh impossible for you to deal with Ferox's insane healing. Mono Aether will probably deck out here too.
Incarnate: He has Bonewall. Essence's deck has Titan, which comes into play with Momentum. Neither Phase Dragon nor Immortal will die to Incarnate's Bloodsuckers, but nor will they have an easy time getting through Bonewall.
Morte: Not only does he have both Bonewall and Miracle, two cards that Mono Aether does not have an easy time dealing with, but Morte also packs Improved Poison, which cannot be blocked by any shields. This will kill you through your Phase Shield, slowly but steadily. Essence's deck has a much better chance of winning than does Mono Aether, since it can deal with both Bonewall and Miracle, even if though the odds are not very good to begin with.
If you decided to use some strange variant of Mono Aether that has a ton of PUs (so you could overcome Miracle), the creatures you drop for them will be sorely missed. If simply add more PUs and Pillars to the normal Mono Aether, your deck will be too big and you'll have a hard time chaining the Phase Shields.
I don't mean to attack Mono Aether, or imply that it's a weak deck, but it simply cannot compete with Essence's deck at the AI6 level. Also, even the best unupped decks have dismally small win percentages against the False Gods. Each time I won a card with an unupped FG grinder, half the money I got from selling it went into funding my FG grinding until I could win another upped card to sell.
