Why do you want to be master, and why water?
I want to be a master because I love the community here. I bounced from Tactics Arena Online to GemCraft to Apocalypse Board Online to Kongai to Elements, and I left every one of those games because they got stale. Elements has the most active and
interactive developer of any game I've played -- and more importantly, a community full of players that love the game, want to help it be the best, and aren't afraid to put in some serious time, money, and thought supporting it.
I love being a part of that community, and I am proud to have the position of Master within it. It gives me an opportunity to help cut SG's workload by moderating a small part of the boards and editing a small part of the Wiki. Along with that comes a position that accords enough respect that players who need help or simply want advice don't hesitate to listen or even PM me with questions (which I love, BTW).
Why Water? Three reasons:
1) Philosophy. I am a student of Togakure Ninjitsu, a martial art that has roots in the five-elemental theory of which Water is one part. The Water stance is designed for fighting in the mindset of 'going with the flow' -- pulling when the enemy pushes, and pushing when he pulls. It's mindset of awareness and adaptation, and the stance of easy, flowing steps. I'm not that guy, and I know it -- I can be loud, brash, and argumentative -- and so I actively pursue my lessons in the Water philosphy and stance, because I know it will make me a better person.
2)Chemistry. Water is one of the most fascinating substances in the world. It's incredibly simple (just two different atoms in a particular ratio), and yet it has many rare properties. It's one of the few substances that gets LESS dense as it gets colder; it cannot be compressed at all; when perfectly pure it can be brought several degrees below it's freezing point without actually freezing, and then instantly become ice when the slightest impurity is added; it can be used to turn sound into light -- the list goes on and on.
Furthermore, water is the foundation of most of the world's measuring systems. It's freezing and boiling points are the foundation of the Celsius temperature measurement; it's size, weight, and volume are the basis of the Metric volume, distance, and weight measurements. And of course, there's the simple fact that the average human body is more than 70% water. I like me, and I'm mostly water, so of course I like water!
3) It's the most badass Element in the game of Elements. Straight up. Water has the most creature control of any element -- 7 of it's cards can either freeze, damage, lobotomize, poison, or straight-out kill your creatures. It has phat beatsticks in weenie, midrange, and Dragon. Water is the core of at least one non-rainbow FG killer (Nymphomania), because it provides the only non-rare way to obtain the uberity of Nymphs.
Water is a dramatic element - with its different states of phases (solid, liquid, vapor), it can change into different forms at will when necessary. In what form do you like water best, and does that state of water reflect (no pun intended XD) your own personality and abilities as a potential master?
I aspire to be like liquid water -- easygoing on the surface, and fun to play alongside, but capable of carving canyons into bedrock over time or slicing the densest metals when pressured. My personality reflects that, I think. Also, liquid water adapts to whatever shape it's asked to (unlike ice), but never takes up more space than it needs (unlike vapor) -- and in that way, it reflects my abilities as Master. I can be where and what I need to be without taking up more time and space than I have to.
All told, Water, in it's "normal" liquid form, is the incarnation of the philosophical, mental, physical, and Elemental direction that I am traveling in. That's why I am, and will continue to be, the Master of Water.
