My deck was basically a counter to his.  Early jade shield deflected any direct damage spells he may have had, and my purifies countered his direct poison.  Unfortunately, his SoGs allowed him to have lots of healing, and an excellently timed bonewall saved his game.  It was a close match, but I lost.

As he used bonewall last game, I was tempted to make my traditional adrenaline deck this game.  But I didn't want to be that predictable, and instead hoped he'd bring a boneyard/vulture deck this game.  Maybe that dark/death deck I know he favors.  Alas, instead he took momentum+scorpions, which made my phase shields useless, and my dragons were too slow to overcome his SoGs.  Ironically enough, my adrenaline deck would have have a better chance.  This game was his before it even began.



Excellent matches, and I'm glad I got the PvP practice with some of my less-used decks.  I look forward to the rest of the fights.

Game 1:

Yeah i knew with your spectres using my bonewall early was a bad idea. I actually had the bonewall in my opening hand but used it only when i had to. When i saw the water mark i figured purifies and knew this might be a long game.

Game 2:

Oddly enough i thought you wouldn't choose adrenaline because i thought that you thought that i would think you would do it. Metagame for the win  . A mass swarm deck with adrenaline would have been trouble for me but i also had a round 2 or 3 oty in my hand so i might have been okay. I actually had a plague/lightning storm/fog shield/bonewall deck to use against adrenaline.

It would appear the curse* has reared it's ugly head yet again.

I was really concerned about my battle with Essence.  Water is one of the most versatile elements out there, no two decks are the same.  Do I take jade shield and stop lances, or would that be pointless because he'll use speed poison?  And I knew that Essence loved to experiment with weird decks, so I was really flying blind on this one.

I decided the only way to stop his deck was to stop him from playing cards entirely.  Using an aflatoxin stall, I might be able to lock down his field.  Jade shield would stop his lances, and save my life, and then I'd just cell myself and use EBs to heal.  Of course, I realized I was risking that he wouldn't take permanent control, so I just had to hope he didn't take water/fire with deflags.

Guess what he took?

It didn't matter anyway, I forgot to pack my rustlers for aflatoxin fodder, and couldn't have healed at all anyway.  His steam machines were too big to fail.

So the next game I knew I was in trouble.  Essence was taking shards, which obnoxiously enough, are better at healing than the healing element.  And that's when it hit me.  Flying adrenaline staves.  Since he was using upgraded shields, the only water shield he had wouldn't freeze my staves, and they'd still heal me.  I threw in my nymphs and some frogs for damage, in case he had no shields, and then hoped he didn't take freeze+shockwave.

What he took was worse.  Eternity + Ice shield.

With no way to deck him or damage him, I couldn't win.  I conceded after the desynch.

Essence decided he was going to break my curse, so we fought a third game.  Seeing as he was taking shards, I figured I needed cumulative damage to overcome his healing.  Scorpions it was.  With shields being such a joy, I knew I'd need adrenaline to unfreeze my scorpions and deal damage quickly, and I'd need blessings to get above the 2 damage reduction.

The game starts, he's playing earth to compliment Poseidons.  Seeing as his earthquake was infinite, there was no point to playing one pillar at a time, and instead I tried rushing quanta.  I didn't draw any scorpions until he had already beaten me.


*After KDZ lost to me in the trials, he vowed I wouldn't win a single fight in the next trials.  Since the time of this curse, I haven't won I single battle in master PVP.  Not a single match, a single battle.  This includes the war, the trials, and any other battles I fought when representing life.

Yeah, we played 3 games because Game 2 'kind of' desynched, even though we were able to finish it (and I won).

I was thinking, Life doesn't have much permanent control, so a little Shard+Shield action, with some Octopods to slow things even further, would give me plenty of time to build up a phat Steam Machine and crush him.

Instead, what happened was that I put down a single Steam Machine and built it up unitl it ate him, and the only thing he did all game was Aflatoxin it -- which took so long to kill it that it ate him first.  End of game.

This was my take on Fire Stall, only with Water.  Same theory as before, but replace Steam Machines with Ice Bolts.

He played Adrenaline Staves+Frogs, but the Adrenaline came entirely from Green Nymphs, which I froze w/Permafrost and Squids before they could start Adrenalining anything.  Without Adrenaline, his damage couldn't even start to keep up with my healing, and he quit.

Basic theory here: get in some quick Poison with Pufferfish, deny quanta with EQ+Poseidon, and sit back and wait for Poison to kill with Dragons as backup/finisher.  Gl1tch played a / poison deck (scorpions, Adrenaline, and blessing).  He never really got a lot of quanta what with my EQs, whereas I got plenty of quanta and ended the game with 3 Puffer Fish and 1 Dragon to his 1 double-blessed Adrenalined Scorpion, and 68 HP and 4 Poison to his 0 HP and 21 Poison.
