Elements Article
Article WritingWorld of Elements… who can't wait, right?
A major part of the adventure is learning the skills of your and other elements.
Right now, we're going to take a look at the Gravity skills, and analyze each one.
(This is looking from the perspective of someone starting/playing as Gravity)
~Mark of Gravity~
Ability to use Mark of Gravity and 1 additional upgraded Gravity card during duels.
-This will be the skill you start with. It will enable you to start learning other Gravity skills.
~Low Point of Gravity~
If your opponent started the battle with more cards than you, discard 3 less cards after a loss.
-This skill is useful, if your total card pool is low, or if you plan on taking on challengers with high amounts of cards.
~Iron Bird Pilot~
2AP: Use Iron Bird to travel to one of the two available locations. Traveling takes 2 rounds.
-This is Gravity's 'quick travel' skill. There are 2 locations you can travel to. So assuming they aren't near each other, you could zoom to the other end of the world in a relatively short amount of time. Take this into account, depending on your strategy in the game.
~Bane of Entropy~
Gain +2 XP when defeating an Entropy player in a battle.
-Based on the popularity, there will be a lot of people wanting to play Entropy. So there will be a lot of players to gain the XP boost from.
~Engineering~
1AP: Craft an item.
The only reference to 'item' I could find was here:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,17189.0.html-As with other crafting skills, only one Element has them. Also not sure how the economy will work in WoE, but these items are useful and people will want them. So, you could end up making some money.
~Catapult Mastery~
Ability to use Catapult for siege.
The link to Siege Weapons can be found here:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,17423.0.html-Gravity gets a nice skill here for attacking another elements' cities. You'll need to have the Catapult card to use this skill. Not sure how you'll get the card yet… but I doubt it will be too difficult for Gravity to get. When used while attacking a city you can throw one of the creature cards from your vault at an opposing Elements' wall. The more catapults you have, the more damage you can do per round (although you have to discard a creature everytime you use a catapult).
~Trebuchet Mastery~
Ability to use Trebuchet for siege
-Similar to Catapult. We don't know yet exactly what the difference between the Catapult and Trebuchet Masteries will be. Possibly more damage.
~Repair a Wall~
2AP: Repair a Wall for 10HP and gain +1 XP.
-Speaking of walls…. If someone is attacking you, you'll need to defend yourself. Repairing a wall can help to do that. There's also an added bonus of getting +1 XP. You won't fall too far behind people just fighting battles and gaining XP.
~Reckless Charge~
'Aggressive Attack' now doubles salvaging bonus after a win, or doubles discarding penalty after a loss.
Rules on 'Aggressive Attack' can be found here under 'Stances':
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,17354.0.html-Essentially, if you start on the same hex as someone you're trying to attack, you'll most likely duel them when you use Aggressive Attack. Once you have this skill it doesn't seem like you can turn it off, so you'll want to be careful when using Aggressive Attack. This is definitely a high-risk :: high-reward skill.
~Equilibrium~
If you and your opponent have the same exact size decks, gain triple salvage and suffer no discarding.
-Maybe not the 'best' skill, however, it could play some mind games with your opponent. A lot of people will want to play 30 cards, but with this ability, they'll have to think twice. Although, when you salvage they won't technically lose more cards, so maybe they won't even worry about it. Also, you still have to win to get the effect.
~Cyborg~
Magnetize: Your opponent cannot use any weapon cards during a battle.
-Probably my favorite skill from Gravity. By the time people start getting weapons into their deck, you'll be learning this skill. It'll be a bit annoying for them to fight you without their weapon. This can help a Gravity deck, since there aren't any Permanent Control cards in Gravity.
~Architect~
8AP: Build a Fortress and gain +6XP. All siege weapons now inflict +1 damage per round.
-We can only anticipate how much controlling a hex with a fortress will affect the game, but Gravity is the only Element that can make one. There isn't too much information about this skill atm.. so we can only wait and see when we get more information. (8AP… that's a lot… so it'd have to be good…SG also said it'll cost a lot of money.)
~Champion of Gravity~
Deadweight: Your opponent is forced to use at least 45 cards in his or her deck.
-Champion skills are the best-of-the-best. Is this one? Well, how easy is it to rush with 45 cards? Many people will be gearing their decks for 30 cards, so with this skill you can make them completely change their deck, thus giving yourself a huge advantage in speed. You'll also have 'Equilibrium' so you can become an aggressive player and wreak some havoc!
So there you have it, a quick rundown of Gravity's skills. They are the masters of Siege and are also decent at defending their own cities and towns. We'll have to wait and see how they do in WoE!
