It's time to vote for your favorite Master candidate!  Every community member has one vote. You can change your vote at any time as long as there is still time on the clock.

Vote based on who you think would make the best Master of that element. Do not vote based on who is the best player or who you know personally. Try to pick someone who you think would help the community the most as THE representative for their element.  If you do not have any preference for who should be Master, or cannot decide between the candidates, please select the "None Worthy" option.

Welp.
I'm very proud of my masterhood because of a (weird?) correlation : Air did better in war ever since I became master, and it has gained more die-hard fans. Which blow air, which is good.
I'm not sure WHY that is though. Maybe the fact that was known as a staffer through LO work and chat moderation, and that attracted people? I have doubts it is because of ability in PvP. But yeah, i think i did good.
As i'm not sure what i did right, i'm not sure what i did wrong either. This ties in with the last part of your question though, so i'll keep it for a sec.

If i became 10th Master, i might have some scheduling troubles that will keep me from Generaling.
Bossing, on the other hand, sounds interesting, and i'd like to give it a go, though it would be interesting to see it more themed around team elements.
My goal as a 10th Master is to continue to attract people, both vet & new, to airdom. I'd like to try to punch a hole into what keeps us in second place in War, but that's less realistic. But i'd want Air to extend more and more influence in the forum, in people's mind and considerations.

A mist/fog. Looks like a normal mist/fog, roughly whateveriwant shaped, with a volume similar to a human, which gets denser deeper.

is pretty much the best essence of air, at least physically. I don't think i could improve on that. I mean a being made of wings? Come on.

So, same trip as the one that made me see the clouds in a new light. The sky is a giant kaleidoscope of colours. Clouds are moving in symmetrical shapes, it's already pretty, but wait. There's a flock of bird. And as the flock of bird moves, as they circle, they... enter from the background kaleidoscope, and disappear in it, and it is so fluid, and so... unforgettable.

1) Yes, air is my favorite element. Darkness is a close second, fitting my... personality like a charm. Probably won't trial for it next trial.
2) It's a balance between the two. Root generaling for life would get me to be ok joining an element i might not otherwise. Ryan generaling for air would probably discourage me from going for it. Otherwise, as a soldier, it's whomever is interesting, with a bias to favorites. So probably gen.
3) Definitely more active players that don't value the element as much. Getting strong in war, heck, winning, puts your element in a spotlight that will get people who haven't considered your element as a favorite to flock towards it.
5) Isok.
6) Because it was fun last times.

If I may still answer this I feel that my main errors have occurred in Phase 2: The Battle Round with slight deck errors of 1-2 cards in some decks. Having said that, some opponents acknowledged that 1-2 cards did not make much of a difference and have acted with honour and given me the win. If I should become the 10th Master of Air, I plan to be War General & Brawl Boss. Furthermore, I intend to tend after our card section which could do with a bit of revitalizing, intend on forming a Guild for disciples of Air and other allies and I intend on posting some interesting Air themed decks.

- Most likely with short, white hair, floating and possibly with relatively modest robes.

For reference, AdventureQuest's Jackel Sano would be very similar. It is important to note that he focuses on using Wind Magic.

- Air's essence would likely be fairly similar but possibly have longer and more flowing hair, equipped with bow and quiver.

#1. Air has been my favourite element for a long time now, having had a consistently air-themed avatar almost since I joined the forums. So, yes, yes it is.
My 2nd favourite element can change a bit every so often, but Light always speaks to me. If I do not succeed in these trials I would try again for Air next time as well though.

#2. I value the element itself more than the general. I would very likely be supporting the element of Air before any General in particular.

#3 As a General I would try to prioritize strong players who really enjoy the element of Air and of course, after that prioritize active and strong players. If there are players that just have Air among their favourite elements, that certainly wouldn't mean that they would be prevented from making the team, but at the same time, at least a student with potential would have to be chosen.

#5. If the Master did not draft me in the coming War, I would understand as there can be many different reasons for this happening. If I could not join their team, it would give me more time to prepare not only for next War, but for next Trials as well.

#6. Air has been my favourite element for a long time on the forums now, and I feel like it needs a reliable Master, one that the forums can always count on participating in War, Brawl, and simply being a staple of the element. Many other elements have very consistent and reliable individuals who have been loyal and dedicated to their element. Air has had a somewhat spotted past and though some have been more reliable than others, none have truly stayed with it. Furthermore, there are areas that a Master should be responsible for on the forums and they seem to have been a bit forgotten. I intend to change this.

See dark ripper response. Furthermore, Air is an element that has always called to me, its notion of freedom, its notion of potential, and in all honesty, it was never a fan favourite at the start, before buffs and tweaks. Even then, I was a fan, believing in the essence of the element, believing in it when few others did. I even participated in the 1st War as a part of the Air team and have never changed allegiance nor wavered in my dedication.

Air trialists! Do you have any Air themed stories for us?

Before my parents got divorced, when I was much younger, we weren't a family with a whole lot, but we used to live close to Toronto's main airport, which meant we could easily go and watch the planes take off. We would spend more than just a simple hour watching them go by, amazed by their sheer force, sound, and imagined all the stories that each plane carried. We didn't have much, but it didn't matter. Watching the sky, breathing the air, and being free from material vice was more than we could ask for.

Aside, it's not really a story per se but I can talk about the fact that I used to work at a travel agency for quite some time. Also, I've traveled to quite a few countries including the United States, Peru, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and Spain.

If War was between six factions of paired elements, which element would you want to match Air with?

At the risk of sounding like I am pandering to my Darkness-favouring League of Shadows teammate, I'd have to pick Darkness. Where Air is an element that excels at Creature Control, Darkness has very powerful Permanent Control and overall Denial. Both can be used to make interesting stalls but also powerful Dominatio decks. It is also important to note that the healing provided by Darkness is well complemented by the damage mitigation that Air has in Fog Shield, Thunderstorm, Shockwave and Owl's Eye.

Light and Fire would be close second picks however, but the range of decks that can be built with them is more limited and possibly a bit more predictable.

To me, Air is about liberty, the freedom to be who you want to be, letting go, and accepting who you are, something I've always had difficulties in doing, but I've gotten there slowly. Not to mention, from a more biological sense, I literally need it to live.

I think I have made it sufficiently clear in the past 5 years that yes, Air is my favourite element.

For Phase 1:
I'm somewhat pleased with my Mastering the Cards task. I went into good detail with Wings. I feel that I should have talked about your opponent playing a bunch of creatures all at once in the Owl's Eye section as a soft counter, and I also think I should have mentioned the change from Fireflies generating Light quanta to Fireflies generating Fire quanta in the Firefly Queen section, as this is a big change in the use of the card.

I really like my Starting your own Little War submission. I'd love to play in a tournament with that ruleset.

I think that my Waging War against the False Gods submission was my weakest. The Wyrms do add in something that only Air can do, and regularly playing 50+ attack creatures is always fun, but I'm a little sad that I didn't submit the Firefly Queen deck even though it was, perhaps, a little weaker.

For Phase 2:
I think that I played poorly against iancudorinmarian, and that he played that match very well. In my third game against Jenkar I think that I should have used my Aether unlock instead of my Titans, something I told him immediately after that match, though that ended up working fine out in the end. Obviously the illegal deck game two against Jenkar was a mistake. I think I played well in my other matches.

Answer my own questions? Sure, why not. I intend to be General for Air if I win, but not a Brawl boss. I don't think it is something I would be good at, and I like to use the time Brawl is running for to take a mini break from the forums to rekindle my enthusiasm.

I have two goals: to give my team an incredible experience in War, win or lose, and to help more people fall in love with Air.

I have been a Dragon in comics up to this point. I'm very happy with that portrayal. So, my looks? Blue. Big. Wings. Toothy.
Although a cliche, I think a Dragon also represents the essence of Air very well.

Yes, Air is my favourite element. My second favourite would either be Earth or Water, but I'll never trial for an element other than Air.

For me, War is a chance to work with some pretty awesome people from around the forum, so I'd value the general above the element. If you haven't fallen in love with an element by the time War ends then something has gone wrong.

This is a difficult question to answer. Things are rarely as black and white as this. I look at a lot of things when thinking about bidding on a player, and how much they like Air is among them. Often I'll try to talk to players before I bid on them to find this out. I will be more likely to bid on you if you have Air on your favourites list, as it matters a lot to me how much fun my team is having. Ending up playing for an element you don't like isn't a good situation for anyone.

I'd be upset, and disappointed in myself, as I think I have done a good job as Master this term. I'd be eager to prove people wrong.

For me, being a Master is about two things. Letting others see how wonderful your element is and helping them fall in love with it as you have, and giving your team an awesome War experience. I believe I can do a good job of both.

I've actually had a pretty cool paper plane that I made a few years ago just lying around my room for years. What I don't have is a camera. I can tell you that I was following instructions from a video similar to this, and the end result looks very similar.

Why air?

I believe I answered a question similar to this last Trials, and wasn't at all satisfied with it. I'd like some more time to really get into this, but time isn't something I have on my hands right now. For in game reasons: Air has some really fun, unique cards, such as the Nymph, Wings, and Owl's Eye. It's a toybox full of answers, and I really enjoy building decks with it. For out of game reasons, read my answer to to Discords question below.

I'll start this with a disclaimer: as far as I can tell, we have very different tastes in music.

For a song that represents me, I'd direct you towards my signature. The Tallest Man on Earth, The Dreamer. I'm not going to explain exactly why I think it represents me as that would be putting more of myself onto the internet than I'm comfortable with, so you'll have to read between the lines. All I'll say is that this will forever be a special song to me. And that I love his jumper.

As for Air, I'd choose Lau, Torsa. There is a freedom and a defiance in that song that fits Air very well in my eyes.

One time a bird pooed on me. One time a bird pooed on a friend. Both were pretty funny incidents, but you probably had to be there. Does this count as a story? From last Trials Phase 3, in answer to a question from Higurashi:

What does your element represent and mean to you outside of the gameplay? What has it done for you, and what would you do for it as a Master?


Okay, some things about me. Every day I go walking for an hour or two. My normal route is more hike than walk, up a wooded path to the top of a large hill nearby. From the top of this hill the view is stunning - it's the reason I choose to walk that route most days. Another thing about me is that I have what my friends call 'a thing for the sky'. I find the sky to be a beautiful thing to look at, not just at sunrise or sunset, but through out the day. A nice sky can make me much more optimistic about the day.

On the top of our hill we have a bench. I typically take half an hour out to drink in the view, the sky, and to let my mind wander. This can be as little as thinking about upcoming elements matches, as large as pondering which university to go to, or sometimes thinking of nothing at all. It's a calm time for me which I value highly. A time where I can be alone with my thoughts for a while, free from all distractions. I suppose it's close to meditation.

So when I look at the sky this is the time of day I think of. It's a calming influence on me. I suspect it's this that makes me find the sky as beautiful as it is. It represents serenity to me.

Darkness is by far the most flexible element for Air to duo with, in my opinion, so I'd pick that. Air/Dark Stalls, SoV decks, some rush options and the good old Air/Dark domin are all very powerful decks. It's no accident that my Team PVP elements are Darkness and Air.
