Please make sure you've read the Rules very carefully. Also, here are the Phase 1 Rules for information on Phase 1 tasks.

To join these Trials, post in this thread a single post containing the following information:

You can find more information on the Phase 1 tasks in the Phase 1 Rules. Remember, the Requirements to Challenge are:

• Any ONE from:
• Winning a Weekly Tournament
• A top 3 finish in either of the PVP Leagues
• A top 3 finish in a PVP event
• Finishing on 1 of the top 3 War teams
• Becoming a Master of any Element
• OR ALL of the following:
• 30,000+ score in Elements
• 10+ forum posts
• Joined the forums no less than 3 weeks ago (at the time of signing up)
• Participation in at least three separate PVP Events (Leagues, War, Weekly Tournaments, etc.)

Note: In the event more there are more than four challengers for one element, priority will be given first to players with the higher Phase 1 scores and second to a combination of score/post count.

Spoiler for rules clarification:

For starters, the tournament is unupgraded, with shards and nymphs banned. This is pretty standard for a tournament and makes it quite newbie friendly (also helps aether as it doesnt gain too much from upgrades, shards or nymphs as some of the other elements hint:death). Then we move on to the next rule: No PC. This includes pc that affects pillars/pends like earthquaka. This is where aether gets the real advantage, with the obvious card being dim shield (and banning eq also helps with the issue of high cost cards in aether).

No PC and dims allowed? "Great!" people are probably thinking and looking to counter dims or using them. Will probably see quite a few poison decks, psiontal, phoenixbolt, drainbolt, some sort of dial stall (poison dials probs). But imo, the real killer is devtal. People will be so focussed on dealing with shields, they'll forget about cc or quanta denial (esp as discord/eq is banned).

Task 5: The Illustrator

The main issue with the current fractal art is that it doesn't really show what the card does. A card that duplicates creatures should actually show a creature that is being duplicated, right? But what creature works best for this art, both conceptually and with the game mechanics? Obvious choices include photon, devs, MPs, guards, spiders, frogs, etc. Dragontal is even uber strong in stalls, but what dragon to use? While fractal is most often used with an off-element creature, I decided to use something in-element to truly show off the power of the card. And at that, I felt that this was the most OP combo the card could produce.

Now, the current fractal card also doesn't really show exactly HOW creatures are fractaled, just some turquoise spiral that doesn't make any sense. Well, aether is the element of the gods, so when a fractal spell is used, it summons a god that can shapeshift into the selected creature and instantly reproduce up to 8 copies of the card.

Think this could be the toughest challenge Deuce has had in my time here (meaning no disrespect to others) Will be very interesting. Could you please post expected match time?

FWIW, I got very lucky in almost all of my trials wins. DANI being the main exception since she was at such a big disadvantage. But definitely should have lost last trials after the 0-4 start against Zawa. I should have lost to Higs in my first trials, and I think UTAlan should have beaten me the first time I faced him.

If I keep facing decent opponents, my luck will eventually run out. And if my Phase 2 RNG is any indication, then my time is probably up. I'm already at a fairly significant upgrade disadvantage, but hopefully i can close the gap a little in phase 3.

Speaking of upgrades, not really sure how I only got 1 more bonus upgrade than w3, when I'm a 7-time aether master with 3 aether war wins and finished in top 4 last war while w3 is a 2-time master who has never trialed in aether and finished 8th in last war... oh well, i dont make the rules. Will be an interesting change of pace being at an upgrade disadvantage for the first time since my first trials.
