Good try Kuroaitou. Like you said, I think you would've been better off banning some different cards and tweaking your decks some more. Some of them look a little off in their quanta production (like that Darkness/Time one; 72 darkness quanta needed but only 5 towers/pendulums/mark?).
Would you guys mind elaborating on why you banned the cards you did?
Well, let's see...
: Devonian Dragon
Pretty straight forward. I was somewhat hesitant to ban this card over Eternity or Rewind, but I realized that this was Time's -strongest- creature that could ignore wings and gravity shield, which would be a problem against one of my decks. I figured that by banning this monster, Xinef would have to splash other elements for offensive capabilities, and obviously it worked... sort of.
: Explosion
You have no idea how much I hate this card when I play an Hourglass against an opponent with a Fire mark or that has Fire quanta available. ^^;;
: Earthquake
Same as above, except with pillars. Even if I separated my quanta into different pendulum, tower, and pillar stacks, Earthquake is a pretty nasty form of denial that works well with Earth.
'Other': SoG
I didn't want Xinef to use a modified version of his 'Pharaoh Sails to Orion'; I was quite shocked when he
didn't ban SoG against me, but after thinking about it, I didn't have that many shards anyway, so that point was mute. Either way, he finished his matches with shields and perfect CC usage to reduce damage, rather than healing to recover it.
: Devourer
I was a bit worried about quanta denial (I would have banned Black Hole as well, but the likelihood of Xinef putting that into a Gravity-Time duo seemed unrealistic), and this would also allow him to make a pretty powerful Darkness-Time duo (which he still pulled off, compared to my quanta-starved one, now that I realize it). Devourers are particular annoying to deal with as Time, because they can often be played again because of the Darkness quanta they create (and quanta denial tactics), and I didn't want to deal with that in any of my decks.
I should have chose 'Steal' instead, since PC is a nasty thing.
: Deadly PoisonThis was my mistake.Out of all the elements to choose from, I had a sudden panic attack of Xinef potentially using some poison-dune scorpion deck to ruin me, and I didn't want to pact Purify against him (it would suck otherwise), so I chose to ban this card. When I look back on the decision, having Butterfly effect, Phase Shield, Sapphire Chargers, or even Miracle banned would have helped me immensely more than this card, as it was essentially dead. My water-time duo originally had purifies to counter Dune Scorpion, but either way, being paranoid of poison was careless of me, and unfortunately I didn't change it at last minute when I should have.
