So my GMT is actually -8 according to a few maps (I live in California). http://xed.xanga.com/13af043337c32228141293/m179617994.gif

...here's to hoping me and Xinef have a fun battle for the title (...I wish I banned the right cards though... >_<).

The only card I'm not sure why you banned is Deadly Poison, all the other ones will affect the deck ideas I had.

So it seems we're both out of dragons :P Silurian Dragons might seem a bit weaker than an average dragon but it seems we both found it worth banning :] That leaves Pharaoh/Deja Vu/Dune Scorpion for offensive, eventually off element cards, so the battles will be harder to predict.

Hmm... so generally I'll have a hard time going quanta denial, while you're left with very little PC. That may lead to some long and epic battles :P

So, have fun preparing decks and let's hope for an epic battle ^_^
May the force of the D4HK side be with U ^_^

Thanks Xinef. :) It'll be an epic battle indeed.

(In regards to the Deadly Poison, I -still- don't know why I didn't change it at the last second. I guess I had a panic attack when I realized I would never ever buy a Purify card to use in my deck... until now. Maybe. Ish.) >_>

Time really needs some better strategies though when it comes to actually dealing damage (I'm surprised we both banned the dragon). Then again, Time is more about speed and control, rather than stomping on the opponent's face.  :P I probably should have focused more on Permanent control rather than quanta denial (I was about to ban Black hole... but meh), seeing that Time has a lot of permanents and synergies with other permanents, but it'll also be fun seeing what stuff you're going to come up with. :D

Xinef vs. Kuroaitou

 :timebig 5 - 2 :timebig
1.
Code: [Select]
5lf 5lf 5lf 5rt 5rt 5rt 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 7k1 7k1 7k1 7k2 7k2 7n2 7n2 7q3 7q3 7q5 7q8 7qc 7qc 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri

Against a darkness deck, vampires, voodoo doll, black dragon. You can never have too much light... especially against darkness :P

Xinef 1 - 0 Kuroaitou

2.
Code: [Select]
5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5up 5up 5up 5up 5up 5up 5ut 5ut 5ut 5ut 5ut 5ut 7q3 7q3 7q5 7q5 7q8 7q8 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ta

A really close one, against a graboid fate egg deck, proves that Time can heal reasonably fast even without SoG... and that :time / :darkness works even without pests.

Xinef 2 - 0 Kuroaitou

3.
Code: [Select]
55p 55p 5rg 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 745 745 745 745 745 745 7q5 7q5 7q5 7q8 7q8 7qc 7qc 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri

Rush vs. rush, this one is for Kuroaitou, the famous UBER FREAKIN DEJA VU OF DOOM technique! For this one alone I'd give him the Master title, but I guess I'll have to wait for the next trials to do so ;P

Xinef 2 - 1 Kuroaitou

4.
Code: [Select]
5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 623 623 623 7q5 7q5 7q5 7q7 7q8 7qc 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri

EM... seems that phase shields beat discord this time, and my experimental mind gate deck worked. I was worried about this deck because it only works well against time heavy decks (it's hard to get pillars of other elements), but it worked well.

Xinef 3 - 1 Kuroaitou

5.
Code: [Select]
5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5up 5up 5up 5up 5up 5up 5ut 5ut 5ut 5ut 5ut 5ut 7q3 7q3 7q5 7q5 7q8 7q8 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ta

Adrenaline deja vu, may be less awesome than UFDVOD but no less effective. At first I assumed a deja+bond deck and a long game like the first one, but in fact it was a quick one. A quick defeat that is.

Xinef 3 - 2 Kuroaitou

6.
Code: [Select]
55q 592 5c6 5lf 5og 5og 5og 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5ro 5rp 5rp 5up 621 621 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q5 7q5 7q5 7q7 7qc

I had an awesome draw with this one, otherwise I'd probably lose against a charger rush.

Xinef 4 - 2 Kuroaitou

7.
Code: [Select]
5lf 5lf 5lf 5rt 5rt 5rt 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 7k1 7k1 7k1 7k2 7k2 7n2 7n2 7q3 7q3 7q5 7q8 7qc 7qc 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri

I thought it would be nice to finish with the awesome deck I started with :P

Xinef 5 - 2 Kuroaitou

Heh... the worst thing about it is that my evil plan was for Kuroaitou to win because he is much more active and he really deserves the Master title.

To be honest, my interest in playing Elements has decreased greatly since the time I was designing Pharaoh Sails to Orion deck and stuff like that, and as of lately I've been only playing my war matches and now the trial matches. I'm no longer grinding like I used to... and I'm no longer visiting forums several times each hour, more like a few times a day... so I thought it would be great to lose the title so that someone more active could take it. But of course I wasn't going to give it away just like that, I wanted at least an epic battle!

And damn, it was epic, but totally not what I planned :P

Now I guess I'll have to keep the title until either Kuroaitou improves his PvP skillz, or some other contestant shows up :P

*cries*

I really had to stretch my imagination in designing all of these decks for the Trials, and some of them I didn't even use (I don't know why I didn't :().

Round 1 (L):
Code: [Select]
5ul 5ul 5ul 5v0 5v1 5v1 5v8 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q4 7q4 7q4 7q4 7q5 7q8 7q8 7qb 7qb 7qb 7ri 7ri 7t4 7t4 7ta 7ta 7td 7td 7td 7tdDamn Miracle and Morning Glory meant trouble - I was willing to bet that Xinef wasn't going to use a Time-Darkness duo during the first round, so I had this up my sleeve. Throwing in Nightmares was to ensure that he couldn't improve his draw rate (should he have had hourglasses), but obviously that didn't work very well.

Round 2 (L):
Code: [Select]
592 592 5ri 5ri 5ri 5ri 5ri 778 778 778 778 778 778 77c 77g 77g 77g 77g 77h 77h 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q8 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7riI was wondering if I was going to get lucky this time, but none of my fate eggs turned into any dragons or what not. It was a close match, but at this point I was started to become stressed out. I wish I banned Steal earlier.

Round 3 (W):
Code: [Select]
55q 55q 55q 5rj 5rp 5rp 5rt 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 7an 7an 7an 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q1 7q1 7q1 7q8 7qb 7qb 7ri 80h 80h 80hThe deck that I had tested the most during the process - it's TTW wasn't very good still, but I figured that the only way to counter this deck was by Nightmare or Black Hole to deny my quanta sources. I'm just glad I won with this deck, because if I didn't, I may have just as well give up. :(

Round 4 (L):
Code: [Select]
4vl 4vl 5rg 5rj 5rt 5rt 5rt 6u2 6u2 6u2 6u2 6u2 6u2 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u5 7n2 7n2 7n2 7q1 7q1 7q1 7q8 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7riFailed idea - I should have stuck with the original Psycho Deja I was used before, considering how effective it was against Shields. Discord was supposed to be a fun trick I wanted to use against Xinef, but Phase Shields and Mind Gates just ruined my strategy altogether. I should have banned Phase Shield instead of Deadly Poison. >_<

Round 5 (W):
Code: [Select]
5c2 5c2 5c2 5c7 5c7 5c7 5c7 7an 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q1 7q1 7q1 7q4 7q5 7q8 7qc 7qc 7qc 7ri 7ri 7ri 7riGotta love adrenaline.

Round 6 (L):
Code: [Select]
55q 55q 560 576 5rj 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 6rn 6rn 6rn 745 745 745 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q5 7q5 7q8 7qc 7qc 7qc 7qcUnlike Xinef, I had a poor hand (in my opinion) - I was led to wonder if my quanta production skills were even good at this point, despite the tower and pendulums I packed. I think I underestimated how much quanta I really needed, which was why Xinef was so quick to defeat me as well as his epic hand.

Round 7 (L):
Code: [Select]
55q 55q 55q 5rj 5rp 5rp 5rt 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 7an 7an 7an 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q1 7q1 7q1 7q8 7qb 7qb 7ri 80h 80h 80hSo much for second time's a charm - I got a bad draw in my starting hand, so it was all fail from then on out.

...on that note, good games Xinef. Here were a few of my other decks that I -should- have tried out against you, but I didn't. :(

Code: [Select]
52g 52g 52g 52q 52q 52t 52t 52t 52t 5rp 5rp 5rp 5rp 718 718 718 718 718 718 71b 71b 71b 7q4 7q4 7q4 7q4 7q4 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7riPoison.

Code: [Select]
5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5ig 5ig 5ig 5io 6rn 6rn 6rn 7gm 7gm 7gm 7gm 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q4 7q4 7q7 7q7 7q8 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7riNymph Tears for damage on my side (Golden Nymphs hit pretty hard...), or as PC on your side (putting them on whatever towers you have and then rewinding them to deny you quanta and creatures).

Code: [Select]
5l8 5l8 5l8 5l8 5la 5la 5lc 5lc 5lh 5ro 5rp 5rp 5rp 7k0 7k1 7k1 7k1 7n2 7n2 7n2 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q4 7q4 7q4 7q5 7q5 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri 7ri...and I also had a Light-Time deck as well. :P

Congratz on keeping the title Xinef, even if you didn't want it!

Good try Kuroaitou.  Like you said, I think you would've been better off banning some different cards and tweaking your decks some more.  Some of them look a little off in their quanta production (like that Darkness/Time one; 72 darkness quanta needed but only 5 towers/pendulums/mark?).

Would you guys mind elaborating on why you banned the cards you did?

It's probably easy to guess what kind of cards I usually fear the most - permanent destruction - because it ruins time control decks and counters Hourglasses, Eternity, SoG, shields and Sundials. Thus I decided to ban most PC cards, except Pulverizer (would require a trio deck and can be countered with eg. steal before it uses it's ability even once), Poseidon (once again trio, and a weak one), and possible mutants (weak against rewind).

Other than that, I wanted to weaken Time's best synergies, thus Phase Shield and Earthquake (which is also a form of powerful permanent destruction). Time / Aether synergy can take different forms, but Phase Shields is often the key card there, so banning it ensures my decks without PC/momentum still have a reasonable chance.

As for the Devonian Dragon, it's simply the main offensive card of many time decks, other cards when used offensively (eg. Pharaoh, Deja Vu) require other elements to be fully effective, so you have to either limit yourself to decks with access to :gravity for Pharaohs, or buffs for Deja Vu, or use these cards with much worse effect. Or use :time only for permanents / spells and the other element for offensive, but I can counter these decks with some steals or something. My darkness deck was designed to steal pillars for quantum denial and any eventual permanents, while the mind gate deck also was supposed to take advantage of the timely part of the opponents deck.
