RESULTS OF AETHER CHALLENGE:Icybraker - wassd13
5-1
Thanks for your honor and games well played, wassd13. You'll be back, I know it.

Game 1:61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 621 621 621 749 749 74a 74a 74a 74a 74a 74a 808 808 80g 80g 80g 80g 80g 80g 80h 80h 80h
This is the deck I used. It's a deck I designed myself. Its goal? Shatter the traditional mono-Aether. Recluses for damage. Quintessence for Lightning protection. Gravity Shield for Dragon protection. Unstoppable for Phase Shield penetration. Wassd13 surprised me by playing a

deck; Quinted Devonian Dragons, I think. His was a bit faster than mine. I tripped up early by accidentally not Unstoppable-ing my first Recluse before Quinting it. With just 1 Dragon and an Eternity (as well as a Phase Shield defense), he was out-damaging me. If I had 1 extra turn, I would've won. As it stood, he barely won this game. Him: 1. Me: 0.
Game 2:61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 80a 80a 80a 80a 80a 80a 80b 80b 80b 80b 80b 80e 80g 80g
Another custom deck. This one was control-oriented. Explosions were for nasty permanents like Lobotomizers and Shields. Lightning was for creatures and direct damage. PU was for damage after Lightninging his creatures. Lobo and Recluses were for extra damage, just in case. They ended up being a big help. Wassd13 played a large

with

mark for Sundials. We desynced a couple times but finally got the match done the 3rd time, I think. The first time, he had a bad draw and I had a good setup, but we desynced. The second time, I obliterated his creatures and PU'd his Anubis. Too bad we desynced after that. His deck was pretty slow or unlucky. The third time, what creatures he did get out were killed by my trusty Lightnings. In the end, I PU'd my own Recluses and Exploded his defense of Sundials and Shields for a quick win. Him: 1. Me: 1.
Game 3:61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 7dm 80a 80a 80a 80a 80a 80a 80b 80b 80b 80b 80b 80e 80g 80g
I used the same deck. So did wassd13. The results were the same - my control was overwhelming while his setup was good. However, his deck was simply too large for him to set up fast enough for me to run him down once more in a closer game. Him: 1. Me: 2.
Game 4:5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 61o 61o 61q 61q 622 622 622 622 7t4 7t4 7t4 7t4 7t4 7t4 7t4 7ta 7tc 7tc 7td 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 80a
A more Aether-oriented Devourer Fractal deck based on control. Wassd13 was playing a a straight Charger Fractal. I got great draws. Thus, I locked him down quickly without him having anything on the board, closing in for the Eclipse kill augmented with my spells. Him: 1. Me: 3.
Game 5:5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 61o 61o 61t 61t 622 622 622 622 7t4 7t4 7t4 7t4 7t4 7t4 7t4 7ta 7tc 7tc 7td 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808
A more Aether-oriented Devourer Fractal deck. Wassd13 was playing a Charger Fractal with Otyughs. I got some good draws and cautiously played my Devourers early, hoping he didn't have Lightnings. He didn't. He did get an Otyugh out but he only ate one of my critters before he could no longer eat. I soon filled the board with Devourers. We desynced, but it was a clear lockdown on my part and wassd13 gave the win to me. Devourer really makes a very nice deck. Him: 1. Me: 4.
Game 6:61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61t 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7di 7di 7di 7di 80b 80b 80b 80b 80b 80b 80d 80d
A custom deck aimed for stalling and then a two turn kill. Shields for stalling; then, after a while, I can play several Dragons and clone them for a fast win. I was playing against a water-based Mind Flayer and Ulitharid deck. We desynced several thousand times; however, wassd13 played against the CPU and gave the win to me after seeing my CPU play a Phase Shield and several dragons. "I would call that a win in my book" - wassd13 in chat. Him: 1. Me: 5.
All in all, thanks for bearing with all my desyncs, wassd13. See you next time.
