Overall analysis:
Games were pretty close and luck didn't seem to like either of us. Kael's bans were probably what made him lose, Pestal countered too many of his decks.
Game 1 WIN:
Mono Darkness vs Phoenix Darkness
I found it ironic to beat Kael with Nymphs, Liquid Shadow is such a good counter to Phoenixes.

Game 2 LOSS:
Unstable Control vs Quinted Nympho Liquid Antimatter
My control was useless, and coin toss made it impossible for me to win, since I would deck out first.

Game 3 WIN:
Pestal vs EQ Pests
I had an awful start, and barely managed to recover: it was was an extremely close match, where Eclipse was the risky decision that sealed the deal. Had I played it one turn later I would've lost.

Game 4 LOSS:
Entropy Control vs Voodoo Stall
I made some stupid mistakes here, after I comfortly stalled while we both had our dolls out I began to realize just how many :darkness Kael was building up, and realized he would Siphon for the kill. At that moment I panicked and Pandemoniumed his dolls, one was rewound and I could no longer deck Kael out.

Game 5 WIN:
Vader Sader vs Darkness + control
I seemed to be winning quite easily from my perspective, I had a huge blessed animated Dagger out while Kael had a lot of Pests slowing me down. Near the end Kael put up a Dusk Mantle which put me to a halt. When I could finally play my first crusader and Endow the Dagger, I won. No screenshot since Dusk Mantle makes it impossible to tell when you'll win.

Game 6 WIN:
Pestal vs Quinted Nympho Liquid Antimatter(?)
Kael never stood a chance with my early denial.

Game 7 LOSS:
Entropy Control vs Mono Darkness
Kael thought it'd be funny to steal all of my pends, as a result, I never got enough Entropy to do something against his Dragon burst at the end.

GAME 8 WIN:
Pestal vs Voodoo Stall
Pestal was doing great so I figured I'd end this by using it again. Denial vs Stall is pretty much auto win.

Congrats torb.

Congratulations to TheonlyrealBeef the new Master of Darkness.
May your reign bring a renaissance to Darkness.
EDIT: Epic 1200th post! ^_^
-
It might be me, but Kael's 7th decks has one upgraded card too much.

Well spotted. I don't think it matters too much now.
-
gratz beef, looked like some great fights,
all hail the (dutch) master of darkness!
-
The first of the masters has been crowned. Congratulations Theonlyrealbeef, and well fought, Kael Hate.
-
Kael would've won that duel whether he had 24, 23 or 18 upgrades, and since the end result is the same, I don't really care. I had some urges myself to think of it as a number of unupgraded cards rather then a number of upgraded cards that should go into the deck (luckily, all those I used had 30 cards).
In case someone becomes curious about my unused decks, here goes:
Chaos Vamps

Congratulations to The Only Real Beef!
Condolences to Kael Hate.
Seems like it was a good final though and I appreciate the screen shots and recap TORB.
-
I have been watching the entire final and it was really a great showdown. In the first battle, the beef had the incredible intuition to play dark nymph and it was just the best defence possible against phoenixes. Maybe the Beef just wanted to show his two nymphs and his darkness mark of. If it's the case, it paid of.
Followed an alternate win/loss that the Beef broke with his second pestal. Those that played him in CL could have tell that it's his favourite deck. Final game was won once again by pestal. For those who want to take his tittle to the new Master of Darkness, remember to ban fractal ...
Congratulations Beef.
-
After Firerage lost due to not drawing cremates, I lost my cool. It stops Pestal but I never wanted to look at it again.
-
Congratz torb, the new Master of Darkness!
<_< Pestals remind me of Trial #1... but good job anyway :D
-
Congratz to ToRB. Well fought battles on both sides.
Some interesting decks here. One thing that always interests me in aggro deck design is the balance between speed versus total damage potential. With aggros, we often think about trying to rush the kill before the stall deck can control the field. So we sacrifice putting in more creatures to put in more Pillars so that the creatures we do draw can be dropped ASAP. This makes the deck faster . . . if you can survive the control. But if there's too much control, then your strength just diminishes the entire game.
So it's interesting how Kael in his deck 7 went for maximum output versus speed. His QI is almost double digits (which lends itself to weak pillar draws, though maybe not quite as bad as he got) and he won't reach QE till turn 15, but in the end he was able to put out too much damage to control. I suppose the Q control from all those Steals helped slow the CC. Anyways, excuse my rambling thoughts . . .
In the end, I think ToRB is right, Kael lost because of not banning Fractal. The usual Immo+RoF counter is not good in the upped environment due to 4HP pests and often 4HP vamps thanks to Eclipse. You need to double Immo+RoF which is tough to do and often inconsistent. This just reaffirms my dislike for Pestal. That's just an evil deck.
-
Congrats TORB! Very nice decks, by both.
-
Congratulations TorB, the new Master of :darkness ^^
-
The birth of a new master has been made! You are now in the "Dark Side" hehe
-
Well done ToRB, and again I see, pestal as one of the most powerful decks ever, and all its variations.
-
I failed to give a ban speculation...
oh well, gratz to torb
-
The (dusk) mantle has been passed from a great master to a well deserving challenger.
Congratulations TheonlyrealBeef!
-
Apparently the Darkness gods like to rotate Masters. Bloodshadow to Miniwally to Kael to TORB. Congrats TORB.

it's darkness... where everyone betrays one another, leaders being switched constantly is to be expected...

Well in that case, there's no way Torb will hang onto the title, and I'll tear it from his grasp next time.
jk. I suck with darkness :P

That's one dark beef.

Darkness is one of my weakest elements. I wouldn't want to waste your time by joining the trials :)
