Four times in a row, it is really a feat, congratulations again, Iancu!
0-1 Water CC vs. Mono DiscordKinda expected CP scorpions with RT, so went with this deck. Didn't go well... Congeal was able to temporarily hold back the creatures.
Didn't get much entropy quanta due to a Discord...
0-2 Adrenastaves vs. Nova RushNova Rush is something terrifying to face, you can either outheal/outstall or quick CC this deck. But this deck is so quick, that all of these
tries are chancy. So I used 'Staves, but started with 6 pillars.... ouch... later got only ONE usable Flying Weapon. By the time I've got
the 2nd one was almost down. And no comeback, since Iancu had a Silence...
1-2 Catatitans vs. Entropy-FirestallWhen I saw the mark I knew that I have good chances. Tested against this deck, went well. Like in this game. Panda kept doing funky things
(hey, it's a Panda!
) first RT'd my flying Titan, then Iancu threw his entire arsenal on my next flying Titan as a last resort, but worsened the
situation: it got frozen. No 0-5, yeah!
1-3 Entropy-Earthstall vs. Troll SoSeEven match, nova is possible, rush is possible... next try: protected Dis. Shield with AM and BB. What I didn't expect (nobody expected this I guess),
that as soon I AM'd a creature Iancu drew a Cremation, so he can thanked a quick 8 fire quanta and one nuisance less. I was collecting my sweet
entropy quanta for the shield+ench combo when all of a sudden a Sky Dragon - Ruby Dragon duo appeared and eaten away my 33 hps. Ouch.
Thanks to the Cremation he was able to play out the Red Dragon in that turn...
1-4 Voidstall vs. Werewolves and co.Couldn't slow the game enough. Maybe that first Sundial was too early, got only another one later. Didn't help either that Iancu stole 2 of my SoVs.
2-4 AM Vampires vs. SoSe DominExciting game. Iancu played an early Vagger which got quickly stolen.
Then an Otyugh terrorized my Vampires, so they just ducked in the cover of
my hand. Iancu got frustrated because of the Vagger, so he put Butterfly Effect on the Otyi in order to get rid of it. Lost a Vagger, gained 3 Vampires
- I liked the barter. Also stole the Fog Shield.
His SoSe draws were much less fearful this time. The sudden event surprised even Iancu. However
he stole back the Fog Shield, but it totally deserted him (6/0 blocks, 9/2 including the last turn). "Downgraded" Fog Shield or not the situation was
so good for me that it was hard to lose this one (AM'd several creatures, his Otyi had to decide what do destroy - my dusk or my eclipse).
Holy crap I EM'd the Master of Entropy!
2-5 SoW Immortals vs. Werewolves againI regret that I haven't gone full berserk. Most of the time going full berserk after a great win is detrimental and hits back quickly. So I tried to be
calm and chosen SoW Immortals (lightning packed version) instead of PU/CP/Psions.
It was an odd game, with a chance of RTs. Started out
well, since 3 of his Werewolves got fried by Zeus before changing into full powered version. I had 4 lightnings in the deck, so that is a good start.
Except the fact that he played a Discord. Had to wait turns to play a single Immortal+SoW. To make things worse that was the only SoW I got...
16 turns and 1 SoW? From 6? Eh?
The lone Antimatter could have saved my butt, too, but why hoping for a 1 copy card, when cannot get another
with 5 remaining copies? The Amethyst Dragon and a Nitemare thrashed me.
All in all I think the bans already decided this match - I regret that I didn't apply a full ban on Nova. Having to rely on slow decks, well, wasn't funny.
One could emulate these decks with QTs, but they are nowhere near the speed of Nova decks.
The whole
Trials experience was a good one - however it chomped up a lot of my
free time. Hope there will be a next time - for the more
experienced and battle-hardened future myself.
ggs!
ps: I made videos, I may release them later.
