Tried for 25min on Fri - plenty of I got into a few games but Solar never did

5 quanta for him - 4 quanta for me - but  I had a Miracle in my opening draw. He played an early glory I countered with one of the same. He dropped a turn 2 or 3 second glory I countered with an angel. I looked at the other cards in my hand and knew I had more damage to play - but the win was going to come from that Miracle so I saved up - played it a turn early because you never know I seem to be prone to math errors lately and rode the bit of damage I had in play to a win.

That Miracle turned what should have been a counterdeck into a win - yay!

He started with 5 quanta played into a turn 2 Sader & Dagger and turn 3 blessed the Sader. Was all he had in play for the longest time - but 18 points of healing is an awful lot to overcome. I started with poor quanta but got out decent damage in an MG, Grabby & Pegasus. I think I momentum'd the Peggy and got a glorious +1/+5 CP on it as well. Not that it would truely have mattered. All that said - if it weren't for the Duck on the last turn I would have been one turn from killing him.

Countered a second time - this was going to be a trend.

He got a 5 quanta start which he played into a turn two sader. But it didn't matter - he was convinced he was facing Fire Stall and had a great draw for that match up. Once he realized he was facing SoBr he filled his hand and tried to outwait my stalling.

But between my draw power and the stalling I had in hand I managed to deck him out.

I won the toss but only drew 2 quanta and one of them was a mark - that made for a very slow start for me. He drew 4 quanta again - and while he didn't get an early Eternity - by deflags were buried deep and gave him the time to kill the only chance I really had at a win.

However - due to an illegal deck my loss was changed into a win.

Strange draw for me - all three time pends/pillars, one deja-vu and a single RoL. No luci to be found the entire game. This turned into an epic RNG fail for Solar - he certainly had a deck advantage had he drawn an early eternity and the quanta to use it this could have been a very different result. However - he drew no Eternity, no Miracle and no Hourglasses to go hunt for them either. My horde of minions simply grew until they trampled him.

Again counter decked - but even a solid deck choice can't beat a vengeful RNG

I had a great draw with one issue - no Pulvy. I threw Saders out like a madman - but without a Pulvy to empower there was just no chance for me to get enough damage into play. Not even the fact that Solaris had forgotten to include pends in his deck and was powering PU of off solely the mark was enough to make a difference. What RNG had done to Solar in the last game it now did to me. For RNG is a bitter angry mistress.

I think I drew three quanta in my opening hand - but only drew a single quanta in the next fifteen cards. Thankfully that was enough - his Vamp Daggers were buried deep - but my squids kept his Saders frozen so even a loan vamp dagger wouldn't make a difference in the end. He played an early steal on a Sanctuary buying himself time to go for a win - so I held on to my SoP not wanting to give him even more damage to attack with.

We desynched well into the game and both played out the remainder of  the game - it ended quickly for him with his Duck Mantle turning into Swiss Cheese - but dragged out forever on my end with the Duckie stopping everything I threw at it until he finally decked out.

Not really. Solaris dug himself a hole by only playing one phase 2 match and saying he wasn't bothered anymore ( which hurt his phase 3)

what is "not really" ? I already said that I'm sure there are reasons (determined by the rules obviously). I have not said the outcome of 20v9 ups is baseless and random.
i'm judging the rules using the cringy outcome as evidence. you are justifying the outcome using the rules in question. we are on different pages.

Do you really mean to call someone who refuses to make the effort to play matches -that are supposed to determine how worthy a challenger is- a legit challenger? In the middle of phase 2 it seemed clear that he wasnt going to put any effort into being master. If someone fails to prove their worth in the early phases, don't you think he should be at a disadvantage?
I admit that 20 ups may be a tad high for standin though. A mediocre challenger would probably get around 4 ups round 1, 6 round 2, 4 round 3 (tbf in a standin battle that means few people deem him worthy), 2 from bonuses, 3 per default, giving them 19 ups for a kinda bad performance. Given how unhappy people tend to be when standin wins, giving him a disadvantage may be ok.
That said, it looks like Solaris actually made a good effort in finals and with 3 more ups he could have won.

To me standin should have the same upgrade number as the finalist. (this is fair?)
