[10th Trial of Aether] deuce22 5 - 3 Regyptic https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=62185.msg1236176#msg1236176

Insane games, great opponent, RNG rules all

Game 1 - Win 1-0
I had good quanta and 3 early spiders and a TU. Regy only drew quanta and a pulvy...

Game 2 - Win 2-0
About as close to a hard counter as you can get against Regy's bonebolt, but regy drew all 6 zaps in top half of deck, so I barely won with exact damage

Game 3 - Loss 2-1
Regy had lots of quanta, and I had near perfect draw for catatitan. I had 2 titans flying then dropped 2 pults to be able to OTK next turn. But then Regy topdecked an air tower to give him the 1 air he needed to blitz his dragons to barely win...sigh

Game 4 - Loss 2-2
Grabbow vs monoaether, pretty much a cointoss, which I won, but I had no quanta in opening hand...

Game 5 - Loss 2-3
If I used spiders instead of psions, I may have had a chance, but I was paranoid of wings and boners. Regy had another great draw so I may have lost anyway

Game 6 - Win 3-3
This was pretty much a hard counter since I just PU'd his adrenastaves and waited til I could OTK.

Game 7 - Win 4-3
This was basically a reverse of game 5, except I only drew 1 aether pend, which significantly slowed down my PU. All regy needed to do was draw a non-quanta card his last turn and he would have won.

Game 8 - Win 5-3
Had a feeling he would play AM PUgon, and I almost played a straight up bonebolt with plagues and zaps, but I decided to take a chance on my poison dial stall, which tested well against most rushes, but not ideal against dragons. In retrospect, I should have used a different modification of this deck, but too late now. I never drew my light pends, but I had an early arse and topdecked a 3rd dial to keep the chain going the turn I needed it to seal the win.

Regy, you were a very tough opponent, and you made very smart bans (yes, I know they are same as mine, but I've done this a lot before and I know how important it is to make good bans. God knows the bans I made in my first 2 trials weren't perfect), which made this final battle extremely difficult to prep for. I hope to see you in aether trials next year!

ggs. That was a really strange game of bad draws, top decks and a coin that hated me but I really enjoyed it. It was always going to be close with matching bans and similar Ups and was really tough to build decks for. I'm so glad I was able to get to the final and challenge you. I hope I gave you a good fight.

Game 1 - Pulvy Dragons vs Spider Wings (LOSS)

This deck performed quite well against Spider/Wings in testing and I wanted to use it early to make deuce think a bit. Unfortunately, I lost the toss, deuce had a pretty rushy start with a turn 1 Spider and I didn't draw Bolts... or damage.

Game 2 - BoneBolt vs PUPsions (LOSS)
Spoiler for Hidden:

Second lost toss. I should have been fairly well countered but I was lucky enough to draw an early Arsenic and ALL of my Bolts. However that meant I wasn't drawing as much damage and was a turn behind deuce when he won with exact damage from Psions and Bolts.

Game 3 - AirPUGons vs CataTitans (WIN)

I didn't write down the coin toss for this one so have to assume I won it. Incredibly close game. I was one quanta off being able to use both Silence and TU at one point which I think would have won it. As compensation I was lucky enough to draw Air quanta the next turn allowing me to use Sky Blitz to finish him off just in time.

Game 4 - PUPsions vs Grabbow (WIN)

Third lost toss. He had a terrible draw. I easily rushed him down.

Game 5 - EntPUGons vs PUPsions (WIN)

Fourth lost toss. I used Antimatter on a Dragon when he PU'd mine. He had to Bolt it. I ended up winning by a turn thanks to drawing Lobo.

Game 6 - PUAdrenastaves vs Grabbow (LOSS)

Not that it mattered at all but I lost the toss. Another deck that I wanted to try but I knew it was a risk. I took a Jade shield out of this at the last minute which was a big mistake. A Lobo would have done it too. He copied my Staves to keep himself alive until he drew enough Grabbys/PUs for the one turn kill.

Game 7 - PUPsions vs EntPUGons (LOSS)

I won the coin toss! Huge quanta draw with a first turn Psion and not much else. It took him a while to draw an Antimatter which gave me hope. Unfortunately, I just kept drawing quanta. 4/10 Psions/TUs and 1/6 Bolts was not enough and left me 5 damage short of the win after his second last turn Antimatter.

Game 8 - EntPUGons vs PoisonDials (LOSS)

I had a last minute switch to this from BoneBolt. I got close thanks to Lobo but he kept playing Dials and the Poison wore me down.

Congratulations to deuce on yet another Mastership.

You make me speechless, your sixth aether mastership taken in a row. You now got more titels than all the other aether masters together, very impressive. I guess I'll have to challenge you next trials, to break this streak before you go megalomanic.... Jokes aside, well played Regyptic, you actually managed to challenge this dude.
