I'm not sure if that's true or not. From this:

PHASE 2 - Battles
Challengers will fight each other in a mini-tournament with round-robin rules meaning each challenger fights every other challenger once. Battles are "best-of-three" with the winner gaining 1 point. At the end of the round points are calculated and standings are built. In case of a draw, we go to a sudden victory match.

Not if there's a 3-way tie.
For instance, if Kuroaitou loses then Kuro, Memorystick, and Belthazar would have the same record and have beaten each other once.

It would probably be good just to figure out exactly how it works, just so it's out in the open. Tweaking to OP for the trials once it's resolved probably wouldn't hurt either.
