Spent an hour or hour and a half trying to get a game going before finally giving up.  We'd get a few turns in and then lose it.  My draws were decent with a few good ones in those games.  Made a comment to someone in chat that I'd bet anything that when we finally connect I'll get the worst draw imaginable and he'll have a great one.  Who knew I was psychic!  He won the cointoss, dropped out 3 Nova and a Discord.  I had 0 Lightning in my hand and a very light pillar draw.  Pretty much spent the entire game Discord locked as a result with most of my pillars staying hidden.

Decided to screw it and use a rainbow.  Didn't help.  Another first turn Discord, but an early Nova didn't really care much.  Then proceeded to draw every single Pillar and Pendulum in my deck.  1 Nova, 1 Supernova the entire game.  Never drew any AM, Rage, Lightning, or Dusk Shield.  Only creatures I ever had were my Nymph and the Golem which didn't hit the field until late, and his lone BB took my Nymph of out play.  No creatures, no CC, no chance of winning.

Same story, different deck.  Decided to roll the dice with a low quanta deck and hope my luck would finally turn.  Sadly it didn't.  I got the early Discord out but had all 4 Dragons in my opening hand and then proceeded to draw a Pendulum for 7 straight turns, ultimately playing out 9 of them in the top 15 cards.  Pretty much flooded my hand with all my pends, all my Discords, and all my Dragons.  Never drew an Oty or CP all game.  Only BH was in my opening hand.  Managed to play 2 Dragons before dying with over 30 quanta to spare.  A single BH to heal for that extra turn or CP'd Oty to chomp a little of his damage and it would have been an easy win for me.  Just wasn't my day.

Had a lot of frustrating desyncs, eventually we gave up so TStar could play Jen, and tried again later (PVP servers seemed very bad at the time.)

I lost the coin toss, but was able to play a first turn discord.  Sorry T    From some of the desync games I'd swear he had at least 7 antimatters in his deck

I won the coin toss, could have played first turn discord, opted for a lycan.  Second turn I played discord.  Sorry T

I won the coin toss, played a first turn discord but my draw was horrid.  After he played a black hole I thought I was done for.  If TStar had drawn anything I think he could have won this match with how bad my hand was. 

Chaos ruled in this Phase, sorry for your bad luck TStar123.  In reality I had already won by using Elves (knowing TStar would be powerless.)

Its a bit curious to me during these trials, why TStar entered trials and then seems thrown off by people trying to push out early discords without countering.  Its one of the most dangerous cards in the game and should be treated as such.

Anyways, congrats on the well deserved win Matrim, your fast rise in Elements is very impressive.

TStar, you are truly one of the titans of elements and this performance in no way diminishes your past accomplishments.

Matrim seems to be having a great start in these trials though. As I said before: I didn't see this coming at all. You sure prove your fans they made the right choice

And first turn discords are pretty nasty. Not much to counter apart from nova/immobows.

Its a bit curious to me during these trials, why TStar entered trials and then seems thrown off by people trying to push out early discords without countering.

Two counters......1 is overpillaring to power through it and the other is to use Nova.  My overpillared decks (I used a couple decks with 15+ pillars) either drew nothing but pillars or none at all, and my nova decks either didn't draw a nova at all (first game against Jen) or drew out all my quanta and never got creatures (against Matrim).  Even counters are worthless when your draw is garbage.  I played a duo in the 3rd game against Matrim and died with something like 30+ quanta of my other element simply cuz I couldn't draw out anything to play.  Just incredibly frustrating to never be able to play anything cuz your draws are pitiful.

My luck in tournies and leagues is amazing, but apparently War and Trials RNG gets revenge on me lol

Updated OP with decks and commentary. 

A quick peak into my thoughts (again) :O

I designed a quick deck to cover the short fallings I felt my first deck against Jen had:  too little creatures, not enough speed, and simply no good answer to good stalls.  I stuck with even attack/hit point creatures so as not to fall victim to Maxwell's demon.  Also lycan and abomb are nice and cheap   Paranoid of stalls I took two momentums and a chrysaora, which doubled as mutation fodder and a steady source of poison if I got discorded.  Reverse time works well with discord and would help slow his draw, while basilisk blood and lightning would slow a rush or any nymphs (or other scary things) he might pull out.  After a quick review I saw a glaring hole, antimatter.  Which made me include the fallen elves as well they could give me a lucky break against a stall or provide some cc if necessary. 

Do to the amount of desyncs in the first game, we attempted to play out against the AI a few times but neither of us ever got the same result.

I was going to play a stall for the third game but we desynced early.  TStar had mentioned at the start of the duel that he had meant to import a different deck, so we agreed to both switch out. 

A few fun facts about the design of this deck.  To get 3 quanta sources in the first 7/8 cards is ~60/72% (this is not including mulligan.)  To get discord in the first 7/8 cards is ~56/62%.  Together this gave me a favorable chance to play an early discord.  Discord hardly effects this deck do to the low card costs and being a bit of a rainbow, in fact it can help when you haven't drawn novas for you lycans or provide more for your chrysaora.  The elf can be way too much fun   In homage again to RNG and I built this deck shortly before the first match.  After the games were over and I had a bit of spare time I played around with this deck, it was a ton of fun I hope any fans out there will give this a try!
