Western Tournament - Nov 13th - Quartets

It's cumbersome alright, but everyone have that problem. I'm not gonna be able to make a good quartet either, but such is life. I always love a challenge, and so do a lot of tournament regulars. Most tournies are very simple, after all.

I'm attempting this as my first tournament and I'm not going to lie, I'm rather excited by the difficult deckbuilding aspect.  Since I'm rather new to Elements, at least compared to most tournament participants, I don't have nearly as much experience designing competitive deck ideas.  As such, the difficulty that this presents for even the most seasoned player helps to even the playing field for me, so to speak. 

One way or another I am greatly looking forward to this tournament and cannot wait to see what happens.

Quick question:  Was Immolation and Nova banned for the purposes of this tournament?  I know it was tossed around, but couldn't figure out if there was a resolution one way or another.

Nope, nothing's banned. I don't like banning stuff if I can solve it by other methods.

I made 7 viable quartet decks just watching war results roll in last night.  Now I don't intend to play in the tourney, but quartets can be constructed with a bit of creativity.  Maybe I'll give my decks to Napalm, she could use a 5th tourney win.

On a second note, due to the nature of the tourney you may want to look at banning black hole.  I normally don't care about black hole, but it seems game changing in this format and may cause complaints later.

I was prepared for complaints the second I decided on quartets. It's annoying for some, while others think it's awesome. I can't ban all annoying cards, and unless there's one that will completely lock down everything, it can be circumvented. For instance, Black Hole counters Novas and Immolations to some degree, which is nice.

"You have to have at least 5 cards (including pillars/pendulums) from each Element in your decks. This is to discourage Immolation/Nova rushes and encourage real quartets."

But if I DO make a immolation quartet with 5 cards of each, I CAN

Yep, and one of those decks will be really fast and nice, but the other one not so much. Also, Black Hole will pwn Nova, so it's always a gamble.
