Shard of Serendipity makes it too easy to cheat. Players can simply put illegal cards in their deck along with Shard of Serendipity, then pretend they obtained those cards from it.

If I'm right about which decks will be strongest in this tournament, I don't think I'd enjoy the metagame for this one.  That, and there's also the huge luck factor on mutations, fate eggs, and SoSes, as well as the issue Xenocidus raises with SoSe.  (my opponent got vampire dagger and improved fog on turn 1 AGAIN???)

Yes you can cheat but it's always stupid.. also if your opponent use a precognition you can be totally screwed and I'll be happy

I'm really wondering if this won't cause very many "wins by deckout".. Simply fill a field with ray of lights and then just hope(!) the opponent won't get more than 127 dmg, maybe add 6 sancs, life pendulums & 6 bonds. And pray you have more cards than the opponent.

I think that's the point of the tourney...

Very true.  However, I like the more skill-based ones more.  The RNG is always huge in any event, but even more so when cards like this are being used.

There's apparently a new rule that says we aren't supposed to post about deck ideas, strategies, etc beforehand, so I can't say what I think the top decks will be, but I only see about 4 decks that I'd use, and the RNG is going to matter a lot more than deckbuilding skill in most of those pairings.

I'll probably poke my head in tonight and see if I'm needed to meet the 16 player minimum, but I'll probably give it a miss otherwise, even though it's an upgraded tourney.  (normally my favourite type)

fractal, sanc, and feral bond are all banned... good luck stalling without any consistent/fast CC or healing.

Official tournament was cancelled due to a lack of participants, but an unofficial tournament ran afterwards.
