They're duos or trios with Fractal, Immolation, Nova and Discord being banned.

can you clarify the definition of duo/trio decks for this tourney. For instance, would it be acceptable to have essentially a mono-deck but just have a random mark? or do you have to have cards from 2 or 3 different elements?

thanks

Q: What, exactly, is a duo/trio?
A: A duo is a deck that uses cards from two different elements. That includes pillars/pendulums, but not mark or abilities. A trio is the same, but with three elements.
The Elements Forum community defines a duo/trio deck as a deck with cards from 2 or 3 elements, plus "Other" cards, respectively.

Pillars and Pendulums count as cards of their element (i.e. an Aether Pillar counts as an Aether card. An Aether Pendulum counts as an Aether card, regardless of your mark).
The mark is not counted as being of a particular element.

Example: This is still a mono-Earth deck.
Code: [Select]
58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 590 590 590 590 590 590 591 591 591 591 591 591

Unless you put some minimum number of required off-element cards, you might as well allow monos. Otherwise, you just throw a photon into whatever and it's a duo.

This is kind of the point I was getting at...the only problem is that you have no way of monitoring how much of an off-element is actually in a deck.

Many tournaments we have, we don't know if the required rule is always inside. Example : The New, that requires 6 cards. Someone could use 5. 4. Maybe 2. What about 3? We can't know, so the easiest way is to trust.

We've had this discussion countless times in the past. The end result of requirements is this: people get confused and get disqualified for using illegal decks. Vets and newbies alike.

If you're in tournaments to have fun, you won't cop out on the deckbuilding rules.
If you're in tournaments to win, a duo/trio is capable of kicking any mono in the face now that Discord is out.
