Once defeating an opponent, do you gain ALL of their elements or just whichever they started with?

Do I get it right that people can only use mono decks in the first round? (If we don't count cards and pillars/pendulums/markcards in the deck) YES
Also, do I also get it right that Round 1 means every game that is played against the first opponent? YES
Also, what about people who get byes? Do they start with 2 elements or will they face their first opponent with 1 element disadvantage? They will get a random element to start with.
