I might venture to guess that a perceived balance is achieved across the requirements and power-comparisons of an element in all the classes/pieces?

The link gives you time in your local time. Or you can use the countdown to figure out when the tourney is

No, shards and upped are not allowed, the first rule is always more important than the last ones.

Special Rules

• Always read the second post! It contains equally important information most of the time.
• Upgraded cards and shards are not allowed.
• Each deck has to have EXACTLY 8 pawns, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, 1 queen, 1 king from the list below. Any unlisted card is unrestricted.
• Your deck must be able to play any card you use in your deck. (i.e. no dead cards)
• Maximum deck size is 30 cards.
• After each round, you may promote (change) 1 pawn to (for) 1 queen/rook/bishop/knight.

Just to clarify: can we promote one pawn per deck, or just one total?
