Tournament has started
Where?
Please enter Elements Chat (http://elementscommunity.org/chat/blab.php) "Tournament Room" at least 15 minutes before the tournament starts.

Rules
Please read PvP Tournament rules (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,6997.0.html) carefully before signing up.

The rules will be slightly different for this tournament.  With the lack of turnout at regular tournaments, we have decided to do an experiment to see if a "merged" tournament will draw a bigger group of participants than regular tournaments have in the past couple of weeks.  This may or may not be temporary depending on the results, but it will most likely last more than a week.  The basic rules regarding joining and matches still apply.  Timing will be the same, with brackets being made 5 minutes before the hour.  Prizes will be given out to the top 6 participants, not the top 4.  The losing players in the final 8 will enter a separate single elimination bracket to determine who finishes 5th and 6th.  Prizes will be:

1st7,000 electrum + Nymph/Mark + Trophy (Forum Icon)
2nd5,000 electrum + Nymph/Mark
3rd4,000 electrum
4th3,000 electrum
5th2,000 electrum
6th1,000 electrum
NOTE: people with less than 30 forum posts are not allowed to enter tournaments.

Special Rules
Shards and upgraded cards are not allowed.
Only cards with an even quanta cost are allowed.
Deck size must be an even number.
Each card must have an even number of copies in the deck.

All decks must contain an even number of cards.
Each card must have an even number of copies in the deck.

-The first rule there isnt necessary since it is automatically enforced by the second.

Cool idea... reminds me of prime target, but switches the ban on casting cost for 1 and 2 pt costs.
Should be fun... Just hope my brain will be awake at 1AM this saturday.

maybe it means an even # of different cards?

Ok I disagree with this, I'll say it.  This is at 4:00 A.M. for me, America gets kinda screwed with this.  I know that the western tournament had like 10 people last time, and if they're all American, were going to be missing a lot of people.  Why not just make the Western tournament smaller? Just my suggestion.  Also, It's 8:00 A.M.  Why not doing it in the afternoon?  I'm sure some people wouldn't mind waking up at the 8:00 to play, and I know lots of people are on at night, I think it would accomodate more people.  Again, just my  :electrum

Why are shards not allowed, yet nymphs are?

Why are shards not allowed, yet nymphs are?
My guess would be just because of the mechanic.  Nymphs usually don't give unfair advantages, they're not exactly a gamewinner.  You can use almost any strategy using them with alternate cards.  Nymphs are rares, and useful, but so are weapons.

Why are shards not allowed, yet nymphs are?
Shards are pretty much never allowed in tournaments.  Even if they were, they're all odd-numbered casting costs anyway except for shard of sacrifice.  Personally, I disagree with this, other than with shard of sacrifice, which is too strong, but I don't make the rules :D  I mean, we can use rare weapons, which are only very slightly easier to obtain (since non-arena AIs can give them) and nymphs. (oracle rewards for lucky players)  It takes more skill to get a shard than a nymph, but we can use nymphs and not shards.

Even though nymphs are allowed in this one, you'll have to have and use two of the same nymph to put it in your deck, so we probably won't see a lot of them this tourney.  I've been here just over a year, and under these rules the only nymphs I have the option of using are entropy, fire and water, because I have 0 or 1 of all the rest.

This one's at 2am for me, which is a bit harsh, but if I'm still up I'll definitely enter.  We should have a fairly good European crowd this time, though, since it will be Saturday morning/afternoon for them.

Clarification: we're talking about deck size here. So, yes, that rule is redundant because we have the "even number of copies" rule.
