Spoiler for dragonsdemesne:
Just wondering, how was the meta for this tourney? I couldn't bring myself to stay up late enough to build decks, much less play, but I had a few ideas over the last couple days. The most glaring thing seemed to be Owl's Eye, which instagibs everything except phoenix in one hit. Growth creatures seemed fairly good as well. Cloak seemed like a great choice to keep creatures alive, since all area spells were banned, although it would mean playing darkness, which looks rather weak outside of a rainbow. The other thing I noticed was that fire seemed left mostly intact, and a monofire rush with phoenix, seraph, and deflags could probably do fairly decently. I'd probably have also tried a PU/fractal phoenix deck of some sort. OTKs were pretty much gutted due to no bolts/gas (other than fractal phoenix) so I think I'd have been playing a lot of 'the deck' with owl's eye as my main weapon. I might've tried to figure out some sort of eternity stall with healing as well. Blessed dune scorpions seemed another reasonably viable alternative, especially against anyone not using purify in 'the deck'. 500hp stoneskin/miracle might've worked fairly well, too, and I'd have built one of those. I'd probably have also tried to build some sort of graboidless grabbow (forest spirit, lycanthrope, extra EQs due to no graboid, fog, arsenic, CC/PC) but I'm not sure how that would have fared, since I think stalls would have beaten most creature-based decks. Perhaps with cloaks it might have worked. I'd also have tried some sort of novaimmorush with golems and phoenixes.
I didn't build very much decks. I think just 4 or 5 during waiting for brackets.
Round 1:
I started with a entropy/light stall. Like in all matches.
Chaos Seed, Antimatter, 5 Purple Nymphs, sancs and miracles. 43 cards. I won pretty easy.
In the second match I played Adrena Phoenix. Actually this wasn't one of my first decks I have built but I tend my opponent will play the same deck.
Actually it went pretty good. But I was too optimistic and deflaged the wrong card. Should have wait. Missplayed for some reason. But I had 3 deflags in my deck and I thought when Bonds come up, I'd draw another deflag. But a second never come. I lost.
The third match went pretty good again. Another deck I speedbuilt for my oppoennt. It was a lava golem/titanium deck. Just in case he will play the same deck for the third time. He did. Hard counter.
Round 2:
In the second round I played treebeard. I think I lost the first round with entropy/light stall, cause his stall had two more cards than mine. Early MG allowed me to bring his hp under 25. Loss.
Well, I thought it's time for a stallbreaker and maybe one deck that drives the meta-rail. Blessed dunes against immortal. Tree has quit. That poison. Win.
Third match I played a deck I actually didn't build. I thought he will play the same stall from round 1. But he didn't. I played a Fractix with Lobos. Two Lobo's in the starting hand allowed me to stop FS from growing up. Win.
Round 3: I faced Zawadx IIRC. Well, I played that stall again with a perfect starting hand. He played a fire deck with air mark. I guess he used Air for Sky blitz. He DC and I played it out. Easy win. He had no CC, so my purple nymphs and AM in hand stopped all his creature for doing any damage. We didn't replay. Win.
Then I played blessed dunes again. He was playing an EQ/RT deck with fate eggs. But blessed dunes don't need very much quanta for it's combination. Also I played RT on his Ice Dragon (from Fate Egg). And reversed all the creature from fate egg. Since he had no quanta except from time and earth, this was kind of a counter.
Final match: I was happy to see Regyptic in the finals. He deserved also the win. But all three games were very close. Hot match.
In the first round I played traditionally entro/light stall. When I saw his first turn arsenic (FS bow), I was about to quit. But I wanted to see, if I could have a chance maybe.
I was waiting one turn to see if Regyptic would grow his FS. He didn't. Damn. Then I played AM on them, but it didn't help cause they went back to 1|1 with their ability.
I had four miracles in my deck. I drew one. A second would give me the win I guess. He beat me 1,2 or 3 turns before I could deck him out. Well played!
The second match was close again. He played a cloaked Lycan/AM deck. I was playing a Fire Rush with RT Splash. This was speedbuilt again. It worked. I thikn the most important move was, when I deflaged his cloak and played RT on every creautre I could see on his field
I drew early Phoenix. This looked lucky, but I also had Seraph and my quanta would allow me to play them. So On the one side I was lucky to draw early dmg but on the other side I didn't draw Fahrenheit/Seraph for more damage
The third match was similar to the second. He played a cloak/Lycan/AM deck and I played a mono fire this time. Speedbuilt again. Well, I thought if I have enough creatures in on the field (in my deck) then I can rush him, even if he played AM. But it failed. It was tooo close and a little bit lucky he didn't draw many Lycans. But I think he drew 3 or 4 AM
Thanks for the games. Thanks for hosting. Waiting for the prizes.
