Where? Please enter the Tournament room at least 15 minutes before the tournament starts. Click "Rooms" in the top left to find it.

Rules Please read the PvP Tournament rules carefully before joining the tournament. Remember to also read the Special Rules listed below!

NOTE: You need just one presentable forum post to be allowed to join tournaments; you can post it here. If this will be your first tournament, a Tournament Organizer will test your knowledge about the rules. So please be present in tournament room 30 minutes before the tournament starts.

Special Rules

• Pick 3-5 songs and make decks according to them! It won't be enough to rely on the title, check the lyrics, maybe the overall meaning and/or
  mood of the song and create an original deck.
  
  I know after these years "original" might sound a bit frightening. Be a bit creative. Cookie cutter decks aren't good. Let me show you two

  - Black Hole / Amber Nymph: Self-explanatory.
  - Supernova: these spawn the the black holes in reality.
  - Pandemonium: a supernova won't spare anything in its vicinity.
  - Fire Shield: don't move closer, you gonna feel at least the heat.
  - Nymph's Tear: refers to lyrics, "wash it all away". It is extra fun that the lyrics is contradictory, just like Antimatter to Matter.
  - Ghost of the Past: you could just say after the Supernova only a "ghost of the past" remains. Anyhow looking at the lyrics
  the singer may had some drug problems...
  
  
  
  
• When you are done with the decks send your songs/decks in a PM to me. I'll check them and we'll discuss if they are legit or not.
  (I'm open to your explanations.)
  
  
• Deadline to do that is June 12th 22:00 UTC. Time left to send in decks: No more time left.
  
  
• After all decks have been approved the songs (and who sent them in) will be publicized. This way you may have a taste what's in store
  for you from other players.
  
  
• After this you may have minor changes in your decks for balance reasons, but you have to check that with me as well.
  
  
• Your decks may have a maximum of 13 upgrades.
  
  
• Other cards (including QPs/QTs) are usable. Mark Cards are usable - if you can find an explanation in the song to use them.
  
  
• You may use your sweet Nymphs as well, but only a maximum of 3 copies of a certain Nymph per deck allowed.
  
  
• The most creative deck (used in the tourney) gets an extra reward in form of a nice icon and a Mark/Nymph Code.

Instead, send a private message to Tournament Organizers, who will privately discuss about it. Thanks for your cooperation.

TOURNAMENTS Q&A

Q: Can I have multiple Nymphs in my deck, like 3 Amber and 3 Turquoise, too?
A: Yes.

Q: Will the TO (Wyand) who checks the decks play in the tourney?
A: Don't fear, that is not possible.

Q: What's more important: staying in theme or not creating meta decks?
A: Both. While we won't ban any specific card, please don't send in typical SoFree-Wyrm-Fog-Damsel decks.

I suggest rewarding original deck submissions with a bye or a competition badge (for the most original submissions). In the current situation, it will be hard to speedbuild and get approval right before the tournament.
I also suggest not allowing people to make changes to decks after the tournament starts, or maybe let people submit more than 5 decks. It will take the TOs a lot of time to deal with deck changes.

How do you define original? Is it thematic or do you refer to rarely used, maybe bad combinations of cards.
If black hole sun would be a song about discords, black holes and purple dragons would you still prefer to see deck 2? It would fit the theme perfectly.
Obviously this is in addition to the requirement that all decks must be new (rarely/never used combinations of cards).

I think that's a rule hard to define and even harder to enforce. Look at meta decks and don't carbon copy them.
And certainly don't pick songs just to perfectly fit meta decks.

My advice would be have some free association, let your mind flow or just listen to your favorite music and
surely you will find good ideas. It isn't forbidden to use strong combos (see that amber-disco in the example)
just don't use them in the usual way and/or have some extra flavor in the decks (like quint in the example).
