upped zombie is very different to unupped, the meta might change

Stoneskin and miracle were also legal last time, whereas they are banned here; they dominated too hard that time.  I literally had two 1 ttw losses in that tourney; I was using stoneskin miracle stalls with no damage, and I got two mirror matches in a row where I lost the coin toss, so I conceded turn 1 both times :p

I used to complain about meta-talk (such as I would consider spider's quote) in tournament threads before tournaments.  Usually, I got rebuffed in the face about "it can't really hurt - nobody actually discusses good or serious meta here" or similar sentiments so I gave it up.

That being stated, I'm on your side - meta-talk that isn't extremely pertinent to bans/allowances should be strictly verboten.  *sigh*

Well it was more like a discussion of the previous meta. It wasn't even a discussion, it was just a question.

If Earthquake is banned, why isn't Trident banned?

I can think of a solid reason why, but I don't think it would be appropriate to say; it would probably count as meta information.  (I hope my last post didn't, either, but seeing as it concerned cards that are banned this time, I figured it would be okay.  I think I got that tournament confused with a different one anyways, since in the first plants vs zombies I should, in theory, have been using 5 life creatures in that deck :p)

Jeez, The tourney is at 2:00 A.M. I guess I won't participate.

But 2am tourneys are the best tourneys! Its know fun unless you fall asleep whilst deck building!
