Special Rules

  • It is a duo, semi-upgraded tournament.

  • A duo means such a deck which contains at least 6 non-quanta card from both elements,
and the lesser element consists at least 40% of the deck (rounded up; including PPMs).

Spoiler for Card counts for all deck sizes.:
    Deck
    Size
    40%
    3012
    31-3213
    33-3514
    36-3715
    38-4016
    41-4217
    43-4518
    46-4719
    48-5020
    51-5221
    53-5522
    56-5723
    58-6024
  • Maximum number of upgrades are 12.

  • Mark cards and Other cards are banned for this tournament.

  • Every element is usable twice through the tournament.

  • On one occasion you may play a rainbow deck. Elements are freely used here, don't get deducted from your element count.
Bows must contain at least 4 different elements.

  • There are several restricted cards.

    • You may only use one card once from this denial trio: Discord, Trident, Earthquake.

    • Same applies for the Wings - Dims, SoPa - SoFree and Miracle - SoG pairs.

  • You decide the order of your duos by using this small chess table.

5:darkness:entropy:death:air:water
4:aether:life:time:gravity:fire
3:gravity:fire:rainbow:aether:earth
2:water:light:entropy:death:darkness
1:life:earth:air:time:light
ABCDE

  • Usage of the table.

    • First you choose a starting point. This determines one half of your starting duo.

    • Then you move into one direction using the movement pattern of a chess piece.
The new position will determine the second half of your starting duo.

      Spoiler for Chess piece movements.:
      PawnUp one. (E.g. A1->A2.)
      KnightBig L-shaped move. (E.g. A1->B3 or C2.)
      BishopFreely diagonally. (E.g. A1->E4.)
RookFreely vertically and horizontally. (E.g. A1->E1.)
      QueenFreely vertically, horizontally and diagonally.
KingOne in any direction. (E.g. C3->C2.)

    • For your second game the first half of your starting duo is your current position
(last game second half). You move again to determine your other half of the duo.

    • Extra tricky stuff: you may use every movement type (chess piece) only twice through the tourney.

    • If you happen to run out of legal movements you'll be forced to move to your closest available element.

    • Monos are not usable, even if you are able to make such a legal move.

    • You must tell your movement to the TO before games who will transfer part of the information to your opponent.
(Your opponent will know only your used chesspiece, not the exact movement.)

EXAMPLE - because I'm quite sure you feel dizzy now (though it is fairly simple).

Spoiler for Detailed example:
  • You choose a starting point (E.g. A1).

  • You move using the Rook's movement pattern (E.g. A1->A3). This means you have to play a :life :gravity duo.

  • For next game you use the Queen (E.g. A3->C5). Your next deck is a :gravity :death duo.

  • Next game: Knight (E.g. C5->D3). Your next deck is a :death :air duo.

  • Next game: Pawn (D3->D4). Next deck: :air :fire duo.

  • Next game: Bishop (E.g. D4->B2). Next deck: :fire :time duo.

  • Next game: King (E.g. B2->C2). Next deck: :time :darkness duo.
(The player couldn't choose :air :fire or :gravity they have been used up so far!)

  • Next game: Bishop (E.g. C2->B1). Next deck: :darkness :light duo.
(Right now the player can choose only :light by moving diagonally.)

  • Next game: Rook (E.g. B1->B3). Next deck: :light :water duo.

  • Next game: Knight (E.g. B3->D2). Next deck: :water :aether duo.
(Only :aether is available from the movement options.)

  • Next game: King (E.g. D2->E1). Next deck: :rainbow deck!

  • Next game: Pawn (E.g. E1->E2). Next deck: :aether :death duo.
(Aether was the previous choice before :death.)

  • Next game: Queen (E.g. E2->E3). Next deck: :death :earth duo.
    (The only available legal movement.)

  • And this was the 12th game, which is just enough for a 5-player
round-robin tournament (or for a 16-player single elimination one... :silly: ).

You shouldn't be alarmed about how will you keep track of the movements, because I'll do that for you in this post! :)

TOURNAMENTS Q&A

Q: How does those restrictions exactly work? Am I only allowed use Dim Shield OR Wings through the entire tourney, and only once?
A: Yes, exactly like that.

Q: How does the restrictions work with the bow? Am I free to use these cards there like the elements?
A: No, playing the :rainbow deck doesn't mean a free opportunity to play them AGAIN. (However you can use them ONCE in that :rainbow deck, if you choose so.)

Another "hey Wyand, these rules are convoluted, please"-tourney! :)

Heeding to Naii's advice we somewhat restrict the usage of certain cards.

You may use once Discord or Trident or Earthquake. (They exclude the usage of each other - which means if you used EQ once then no Disco for you.)

Same applies for the Dims - Wings, Miracle - SoG and the SoPa - SoFree pairs.

These restrictions apply to the one :rainbow usage as well, so if you use Disco in the bow, no more card from the 1st trio to you,
OR if you play Trident somewhere you cannot include any of these denial cards in the bow.

Gonna edit these changes soon.

I noticed a problem with the table─ I found two monos to be usable. I made a new table to address this:

5:darkness:entropy:death:air:water
4:aether:life:time:gravity:fire
3:gravity:fire:rainbow:aether:earth
2:water:light:entropy:death:darkness
1:life:earth:air:time:light
ABCDE

EDIT: I have added this table to the OP.

Spoiler for Old table:
5:darkness:entropy:death:gravity:water
4:aether:earth:life:fire:time
3:gravity:water:light:air:earth
2:fire:time:darkness:aether:death
1:life:light:air:entropy:rainbow

The 40% is rather restrictive. It's already a duo.

I understand your worry. My first idea was using symmetrical duos (50%), it already got loosened by a bit changing it to 40%.
I think it'll be fine.
