Bleh, been drinking again. Supposed to say "Why is TU banned? Bc that would be a spell deck that gained creatures..."

But, pikachufan cleared everything up and thankfully so! We all understand what the goal of the tourny is here, so if we find a combo that doesn't stick to the theme let's report it!

And let's not be dishonest by trying to find the loopholes! I'll just print screen that garbage and report! haha

What about Fallen Elf? What if I mutate a creature into a creature with Steal? Or a creature with Nymph's Tears ability?(not sure if thats possible) Am I breaking the rules?

Ok, I get why most of the bans are in place...

But,
1) Why ban nova? If you're worried about it being used to get a creature, just ban mutation instead (after all, without being allowed to play creatures at the same time, the uses for mutation are pretty slim)... Sure nova may spawn a singularity if overused but, without mutation allowed, only an imbecile would do so.
As a means of quanta generation, nova is not really that bad considering it could only be used on spells.

2) Why ban discord? Scramble is annoying, but without other means of support (creatures or spells) I don't think its that great of a threat. Without creatures or spells there will be no scramble/BH combo. Scrambling will slow the enemy down a bit, but I think thats only fair considering how difficult a creature rush would be to deal with using only permanents.

With maybe a few oddball exceptions this tourney is probably going to be dominated by pure creature decks. Spell decks will need something to help compete against creature based decks. Nova might just give spell decks a shot of winning. Likewise for discord and permanent decks.
That would make things more interesting I think.

Nymph abilities are not available to mutants. Nymphs are, however, a possible outcome for fate eggs. And mutation can create graboids with hatch, who will turn into a normal creature.

So mutation | improved mutation, fallen elf | fallen druid and fate egg can all result in permanents on a side that should only have creatures and pillars.

Making a spell only deck will be quite tricky. I've organized the spells into 3 sets here.
1) Allowed and useable (I could think of at least one situation where it would be at least slightly useful to cast)
2) Allowed but not useful. E.g. spells like sky dive which requires creatures (which you cant have in a spell only deck)
3) Banned cards (these are listed in the topic post but I put them here for completeness)

Ban list updated again as per discussion.

• Added Mutation / Improved Mutation. Silly Steal mutants.
• Added Fallen Elf / Fallen Druid. Same deal as Mutation.
• Added Fate Egg. Might hatch into banned creatures.
