give a code for a win of a tourney regardless, and allow 4 player tournaments.
To the question of "What is the minimum number of wins that should award a mark code in a single tournament?", this answer translates to "1". And we will act accordingly if this becomes the most popular answer.

Well, 2 actually. :p

Let us trade 100k worth of electrum codes for a nymph!
That could work in a similar system to what we originally suggested, but with tweaked numbers. For now, we are trying to build from bottom to top.

I am well aware of that and don't think it's a great idea to implement retroactively.

Alternatively establish round robin for up to 6 players.
We haven't dismissed this idea yet either.

I like. Especially for 4 players it seems natural to me. With 5 and 6 participants Bo2 should work well. One downside is that TOs will be need to more actively manage the event but will still be able to participate.

In this case I'd also be fine with 7-player tournaments awarding a code even if it might be a bit skewed. :D

Edit: Does the poll apply only to 4-7 players single elimination tournaments?

Fair point. Fixed in both the comment and the poll.

Does the poll apply only to 4-7 players single elimination tournaments?
Originally yes, but you reminded me TorB's suggestion:

prizes should be directly proportional to the number of matches played, 16 players = 4 matches = 1 Mark code for first place

I'm adding 4 to the poll as an option. With that, the poll will be about 4-15 player single elimination tournaments.
And we keep driving into the night

just give a code for a win of a tourney regardless, and allow 4 player tournaments. Jesus the game is dying, flash is likely dying what's teh harm in a few extra codes flying around, and at least it means that if someone turns up to a tourney and there are 4 players they get to play normally, and might show up again to the next one. Encourages people showing up and fosters the likelihood that the next one will be more than 4 players

Agree with all of that. I mean, what's the downside in giving more Nymphs? New players or those unlucky with the Oracle have an increased chance to finally play with that desired Nymph they might otherwise never get. The additional motivation in a much higher reward will also draw more people to play. Knowing that a 2nd place is actually rewarding something is nothing to be underestimated, too.

Something else valuable other than skill is activity. People who keep coming back for tournaments keep them alive, why shouldn't that be rewarded by slowly collecting points for a nice code? "I lost the last three, what's the point in investing another 2-3 hours?" vs. "Yeah, this time I finally get my card and can try that deck!" By playing more they also get better, more competition for Trials, War and Events. Better results still give out more points, so winning is still desirable.

About the poll: Byes are not wins. If the number of players doesn't match with single-elimination, round robin makes more sense.

I agree with JCJ and Ginyu. Plus I'd like to quote my earlier post, maybe someone missed it. :)

I understand why ppl don't like DE, but playing SE tournaments with 4-7 players is silly.

Solution.

4 players. Everyone plays with everyone. 3 games/player, 6 games altogether.

5 players. Two unlucky guys plays a preliminary, then the same as 4 players.

6 players. Two groups with 3 players, everyone plays with everyone, 2 games/players, 3 games altogether. Winners of the groups play final, 2nds of the groups play for 3rd place.

7 players. Preliminary, then 6 players method.

8 players. Normal method, starting with quarterfinals.

9-15 players. As usual. Preliminaries, then quarterfinals.

Now, moving on to points. Please, don't steal away the glory of winning a tourney. Winning a tourney must be always = ICON + NYMPH/MARK CODE!

1st place = ICON + NYMPH/MARK CODE.
2nd place = 1/3 CODE. (3x 2nd places = 1 NYMPH/MARK CODE.)
3rd place = 1/5 CODE. (5x 3rd places = 1 NYMPH/MARK CODE.)

You cannot combine 2nd and 3rd place stuff to the get a reward earlier. I absolutely understand the "get points for wins" idea, winning a 4 players
tourney and 8 players tourney is not the same if there is only single elimination. Though I think my group-based approach is more balanced.

In a tourney where some people get a bye and some people play preliminary matches, either they should both count as wins or neither should count as wins. Otherwise, the number of wins you are able to get is determined by RNG.

First of all, I'd like to address the objection that getting second place consistently means you're doing something wrong. While I agree with this, I also think that getting second should deserve more of prize than third or fourth, and should definitely get something rather than nothing at all, and here I want to emphasize how useless electrum :electrum, basically nullifying rewards with our current system for any place except 1st.

here I want to emphasize how useless electrum :electrum, basically nullifying rewards with our current system for any place except 1st.

While pretty much true, there are many people, including some old vets, that simply do not want to grind.
Shockcannon is 2 years registered and is always wanting upgrades.
Dawn to Dusk is 6 years registered and doesnt have a fully upgraded element.
I am 1 year registered and not even close to a full Trainers Edition.

These are ones that just come to mind right away. So no, for those who have time to grind, electrum is kinda worthless.

You can use electrum codes to bet with other players, as a payment for them to do something for you (you will be missed w3), and of course, save time from grinding.
Not to mention, some newer players never reach it to blab, but still attend tournaments. These players most likely dont know about the arena bug and still want to get electrum.
I think electrum still has a ton of value even if its not used for upgrading cards. It definitely needs to stay as a reward, if anything, it could be increased.

Before filler popped up I was able to get 90+ k electrum per hour. Not a great feat, just clicking until going numb while listening music.
If we want to give electrum as rewards we should give at least 50K for a 2nd place, since a tourney is much longer than 35 mins...
