well, I guess I can't go fully upgraded for this tourney...
I tried to use only my upped cards to make decks
which constrained myself to only :fire, :water, and :aether...

I've made ~4 decks, with varying amounts of unupped cards. I think I'll FG farm a bit, so I can upgrade some of the key cards.
You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.

'Tis. People have gotten second place with plenty unupped cards in the past. Nothing's impossible.

2nd Place? Has anyone ever won the whole tourny with a mostly unupgraded deck?

funnily enough, I almost did...
I used my only almost full upgraded deck (which I used like 2 times throughout eastern and western) in the third tiebreaker
and I failed... if i had used my other fully unupgraded deck I would have had a chance

(my memory is pretty foggy, so don't trust this, though I think this is what happened...)

Not yet. A decent amount of unups though. It's all about deck matchups in the end.

I'm going in with only 6 upped cards :D

I probably won't make it far, but I'm going to try!!!

I have... lemme count.... NO upgraded cards.
Fellas if you're matched up with me, you got a greater chance (my score is pretty low too).

Wouldn't air have huge advantage in having a good number of direct damage cards?

Nothing is impossible, everything is possible

Any chance to practice being in the tournament environment is always a plus.

*Get a feel of how tournaments are run, what you need to do to prepare in the future tournaments, who to look for, etc.

Can I get a final ruling on these two ideas?

1. Playing 2 SoG, 2 SoD, and 2 SoR are allowed (since they are different shards?) or only 2 from a SET of a type of shard.

2. Having one upped and one unupped is allowed  for this tournament? (or is this a forced two is a pair rules?)

example: one phoenix and one minor phoenix is allowed in a deck?
