Okay, so Xinef asked me to put up a walkthrough on the process from the deck-building phase through the duel phase. So here it is. Feel free to make any suggestions or ask any questions.
WalkthroughOnce the round matches are started, valuka, Xinef, or Dragoon will start a topic entitled "Round x - Decks". The first post in this thread is the official deck list that we all have to play with. In this thread and the strategy thread entitled "Round x - Strategy", we'll discuss what kind of decks we should build against our opponents. We can only use cards in our vault (
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,13940.0.html) or cards that we salvaged from the previous round. If we don't have the card, you cannot build a deck with that card.
Now, just because you want to use a certain deck doesn't mean you will get to use that exact deck. We have to consider the matches that all of us are facing. So try to come up with 2-3 decks that you think might work against your opponent if possible. Also, there is a good chance that you will not use your exact deck because we will all try to help improve each other's decks. Feel free to offer suggestions and criticisms, just try to be nice about it and don't be offended if your idea is shot down. Don't forget to give the reasons why your deck would work well or your variation would work better.
Sometime during the deck-building phase, you should try to find another Time teammate and test your deck against decks you think your opponent may play. This is the best way to see if your deck is viable or if it has any glaring weakness. Towards the end of deck-building phase, we'll try to update the original post with the "release candidates" for the match-ups. Make sure you're okay with that deck. Once time is up, those decks are locked in and cannot be changed in any way. You have to use them as is. So if you're missing cards in your account, grind enough money and buy them. If you're missing rares, let us know ahead of time and we'll try to put up rare farms for you or find you a different deck.
During the deck-building phase, make sure to send a Personal Message to your opponent and try to find a good time to play him.
Make sure that your PM settings is set to automatically save a copy of your messages.
You can find it here:
My Messages > Preferences > Change Settings
This way you can send a copy to the Warmasters later if they need it to know you tried to make things work on your end. If you don't hear back from them after a couple days, try to PM them again
along with their General. If you haven't heard from them by the time the dueling phase begins, then try posting in the "War - Round x" thread that SG/warmaster starts in the War board section. Mention that you've tried to PM them but they haven't gotten back to you yet. Drop by chat and ask if your opponent has been on. Also, PM him a couple more times (and don't forget to keep BCC'ing copies to their
General and even their
Duel Organizer (
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,13178.0.html)). That should be enough to give us the win if the match doesn't happen.
Now, if you do decide a time to fight, let us all know in the "Round x - Matches" thread so we can come watch and cheer you on! When you go to build your deck for your duel, go to the "Round x - Decks" and
copy the code for your deck from the first post on the first page. Import the deck and double check to make sure it is correct. Sometimes you may only partially copy the deck code. So manually double check to make sure it is the correct deck and mark.
During the duel, desyncs happen quite a bit. Always try to take a screenshot
while the timer is in the red. The screenshot is no good if the timer is not showing. I always take a screenshot of winning just in case as well. Usually, desyncs are replayed unless both sides agree that one person had the advantage and would have won no matter what.
Windows
There's a button to the right of F12, that says PrintScr/SysReq. Hit it. Open Paint or any image editing program. Paste. Only one Screenshot can be saved at a time, so paste it and save before you take a new one.
Mac
Open Preview. Select File > Take Screen Shot > From Entire Screen. Or you can just hit command+shift+3 (you don't have to have Preview open). You should have a .jpg picture on your desktop now with a date-time-stamp on it.
Linux
Print Screen button on your keyboard -> a window pops up, press the save button and choose a location for the file
Once you're done with the game, you have to post in the current round of the "Battle Results" board section. If you won, start a new topic and title it "Your_name (Time) #_of_your_wins - #_of_opponent's_wins Opponent's_name (opponent's_element)". So for example, it'd be like this:
Smokefree (Time) 2 - 0 jmdt (Fire)
Then post your deck and a description of the match if you want. If you lose, wait till your opponent starts the topic and then post your deck along with any description you want to share.
