dragonsdemesne - 3 (211, subbing for taker) vs bripod - 0 (relics)
-Sorry for the delay in posting. As soon as our matches were done, I left to go to a Christmas party, but here are the games/decks-
Apparently the secret to me winning in tpvp is to spend 2 minutes building decks instead of 2 days, because I put tons of prep into my matches for rounds 1 and 2, building like 8 decks each time, and losing 2-3. Speedbuilding and I go 3-0... go figure.
Game 1: Gasboom
I made a few rough notes a couple days ago about some of the possibilities with fire/earth/air, and one of those was an unstable gas duo, so here it is. I wasn't sure how it would play out, since I knew bripod had steals and discord, and when I saw the darkness mark, I figured he was probably playing some sort of lycanthrope/discord/nightmare rush thing. I never saw a nightmare, but I did see lycans, devourers, and discord, as well as a gargoyle or two. Bripod won the toss but only played two entropy pendulums, so I knew if he was using discord, it would take until turn 4 to play it if he had one. (he did) That, and the fact that I started with six pillars/pends, meant that what was probably a fairly poor deck matchup turned out to be a fairly easy win for me. If we'd played ten games with the same decks as here, I bet bripod would've won at least seven, so I considered this quite fortunate.
Game 2: Firestonestall
Odii wanted me to use a firestall with stoneskin next, and given that bripod chose what he told me later was an unstable gas deck, Odii's intuition was certainly correct. It would have been almost impossible for me to lose this matchup. Other than some damage from my own fahrenheit being stolen, bripod couldn't do anything. Earlier on I wasn't sure what he was playing, so I was a little nervous that it would be dragons with sky blitz, so I played my first two stoneskins earlier than I normally would have, on the turns where with a perfect hand he could've OTKed me, but eventually I realized he didn't have any creatures, or at least none that he wanted to play, given that I had a red nymph out.
Game 3: Immorush
I wanted to try an immorush next, because I was predicting bripod would try discord this game, and he did. I deliberately left out all pillars/pends so that the mulligan would virtually guarantee an immolation in my starting hand. Turn 1 I lose the toss and discard a warden, but after I get the first earth quanta, I immo a warden or gnome and play a golem and a gnome, and from there it just snowballs. Wardens keep his abominations at bay, and discord does basically nothing to me. I didn't get a graboid until nearly the end, but I had a huge golem and drew 4 of my gnomes, so things were looking great for me. I was hoping discord+immo would let me play one of the abominations he gave me with nightmare, but it was not to be :p I'm not sure who had the better deck here; game 1 bripod had the advantage but got unlucky, and game 2 I had the advantage, but in game 3, I think it was fairly close, although I won by a fairly comfortable margin, though once I see his decks maybe it will be more obvious to me who had the better odds in this matchup.
GGs bripod, and good luck in the event.
