Ok, let's go ahead and use one of majofa's "less crazy" options, and I think I'll save the "custom duels" concept for another event where it can be implemented properly.

Root's antlion point was similar to his purple nymph point: Picking a creature and then only allowing the pillar/pends of that element for the creature+that creature in duels is bad, but obviously there would be counter measures against that.

There's also the fact that unless there's a somewhat strict guidelines, duel rules would have to be pre-approved before doing (otherwise wasting both party's time with an invalid match) which makes this event longer than it needs to be.

But I like the unlocking idea.

Anyone with a forum and chat account can join this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully, then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. State in your sign up post which of the restricted cards you wish to start out with access to. You may change this starting card by editing your post, up until signups are full at which point the topic will be locked.

Can this become PM'd? Making selections that may influence people who post later=bad.

No, it's a competition of who can make a powerful and efficient yet original deck and predict well against others, not who can copy a deck and then get the luckiest.

Well, as written you would just choose your card from the 24 already banned. But doing both (24 base restricted cards + whatever the players banned that wasn't already on the list) sounds interesting too.

Might need to reserve steal and deflag from being banned in that case though. Banning PC seems too strong otherwise.
