Players challenge each other to duels. Winner gets stronger and loser is eliminated. In the end THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.

1. SIGNING UP
Anyone with a forum and chat account can join this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully, then join by posting on the separate SIGN UP topic.
Players must also choose an elemental affinity. This affinity grants you special abilities, plus a bonus by using cards of that element.
If your element has a Starter Bonus, you must choose this when selecting your Elemental Affinity.

	Parallel Universe	Elite Dragon - Elite Immortal	You may select either Dimensional Shield or Fractal. If you use Dimensional Shield in a deck, you must include at least 2 creatures with [Immaterial]. If you use Fractal in a deck, you can only use elements you have an Elemental Affinity with.
	Wings	Animate Weapon - Sky Blitz
	Steal	Vampire - Vampire Dagger
	Bone Wall	Arsenic - Deadly Poison
	Graboid	Pulverizer - Quicksand
	Nova	Improved Mutation - Micro Abomination	You can choose to give up access to Nova to gain access to Discord.
	Fire Bolt	Brimstone Eater - Cremation
	Sapphire Charger	Momentum - Titan
	Adrenaline	Elite Cockatrice - Giant Frog
	Sanctuary	Crusader - Miracle
	Sundial	Procrastination - Rewind
	Arctic Squid	Freeze - Permafrost Shield	You can choose to gain access to Shard of Patience. If you do, you cannot upgrade any cards that generate quanta.

Banned: Dimensional Shield, Fractal, Shard of Freedom, Discord, Shard of Patience (Except for the Starter Bonuses).
Restricted cards and weapons can only be use if you have that Elemental Affinity.
You may only use the shards of your starting Elemental Affinity.
You may NOT use Nymphs that match any of your Elemental Affinities.


2. CHALLENGING OTHER PLAYERS
This event is all about challenging other players.
In the CHALLENGE THREAD, simply state: "[player], there can be only one."
To accept a challenge, state: "[player], I accept your challenge."
Players have 36 hours to accept a challenge. If not done in this time, it will be counted as a 'decline'.
After accepting a challenge, players have 36 hours to fight the match.

After the match, a player is immune from being challenged for 24 hours. However, they may challenge other players, if they desire.

Each player may only 'decline' one challenge, any after will result in elimination.
If a player has multiple challenges, they may accept whichever they want, voiding other challenges against them.
You may only challenge one person at a time.


3. INACTIVITY
Players are required to challenge at least one player, or accept a challenge, every 4 days. Failure to do so, will result in disqualification. Please make sure that if you join this event, you also have time to participate in it.


4. DECKBUILDING
Each player starts the event with 2 upgrades. Defeating a player adds their upgrade total to yours, allowing you to use more upgrades in your deck.
Defeating a player also grants you their Elemental Affinity.
At least 1/3 of your deck must match your elemental affinities.

5. BATTLE
The amount of battles will be based on the total # of upgraded cards between the two players.

6. AFTER BATTLE
Both winner and loser must post the result of their match battle results topic. The winner also posts their upgrades.

The more battles you win the stronger you will get, but as soon as you lose you are out.


7. WINNER
There can be only one, so battles naturally go on until we have only one player standing.


8. REWARD
The winner of the event will receive the following forum award icon:
The top 4 players will receive World Championship points (10/4/2/1).

Darkness’ free upgrades seem a bit too good compared to the others.

Other than that, really cool idea.

I dislike the 24 hours to accept a challenge. Personally, I work at the weekends, which leaves me only 2-4 hours in the evening where it would be possible for me to play, meaning I, like many other possible matchups, may struggle with timezones. if it was 36 hours to accept, 36 hours after that to play, that makes 3 days total which I think is more reasonable, and also allows more of a buffer with timezone differences.

The downtime before you can be challenged again seems fine at 24 hours.

EDIT: I also think the Water restriction to pillar upgrades should only apply to games when you USE SoP, otherwise you'll get auto outrushed if you got to a final battle situation.

So, what happens when the match doesn't get played in the 24 hours allocated for it? This seems pretty likely, due to time zones and all.

Maybe have players post the times of day they are available in sign-ups?

Darkness free upgrades isn't that bad, if you think about it. One of them is a weapon.. so unless you use Animate Weapons, you can only have 1 in play. And Vampires are strong, but they've never been game-breaking.

Changing time to accept a challenge and play a match to 36 hours.

Not too big of a fan of the pickup game format, but it looks like I'm in the minority on this one.

Edit: I think it would've been better to have Light get Archangel as a free upgrade over Crusader. Would help it get over that early hump where upgrades are lacking.

I'm thinking of a starter bonus for that counts all weapons to be in your affinity.

First time in this event-- I'd like some clarifications, and here are my current assumptions:

We may not change our decks in between the individual games of a match.
If somebody loses with a starter bonus to somebody else, the starter bonus/restrictions are kept for the new player.

Is that right?

You can change decks between games in a match.

Starter Bonuses only applie to the players who start with that element. No other players can acquire them.
