Returning now with new and improved rules! This event is based on the classic movie Highlander (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highlander_%28film%29), where immortal warriors kill each other with swords, until there is only one left. Instead of swords, we use cards.

YoungSotplayers challenge each other to duels. Winner gets stronger and loser is eliminated. In the end there can be only one.
1. SIGNING UPAnyone with a forum and chat account can join this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully, then join by posting on the separate sign up topic. When signing up you must also PM the organizer stating one card. You may build decks with that card, even if it is one of the restricted cards (see restricted card list in DECKBUILDING). If that card is not already on the restricted card list, it will be added as a restricted card when the even starts.
If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active and you will have to wait for it to restart.
Sign ups for this event will run for one week.
2. CHALLENGING OTHER PLAYERSThis event is all about
challenging other players in the Elements chat room. All you need to do is enter the chat room and say "Player X, there can be only one.". Player X now has to accept your challenge, or decline it.
The goal is to make the battles happen as soon as a challenge is issued. Declining a challenge should only be used as the last resort if the player simply cannot fight the battle at that specific time. Declining a battle just to avoid fighting someone, or because you don't feel like doing PvP, is not allowed.
Players are allowed to decline a battle 3 times. If you decline a battle 4 times, you will be disqualified from the event. For 1 hour after accepting a challenge, you may freely decline additional challenges. For 1 hour after declining a challenge, you may not challenge nor be challenged.
Players are allowed to challenge other players as many times as they like. As soon as you are done with one battle, you can start a new one.
Example: Player A enters the chat room and sees Player B (who is also a participant of this event). Player A wants to challenge Player B, so he says in public chat: "Player B, there can only be one". Player B can now either accept the challenge, or decline (if he has to go walk the dog). Player B accepts the challenge, and the two start a battle.
Please note, these rules are occasionally difficult to enforce. The intent is that anytime someone issues a challenge for you in chat, and you see that challenge, you must accept (or use one of your declines). If you don't see the challenge, you obviously don't have to accept it. In many cases (such as someone lurking without posting, or entering chat as a guest) it is impossible to enforce this rule, since we don't know whether the challenged player actually saw the challenge. But if a player is obviously attempting to avoid the rule, they will be forced to accept the challenge or be disqualified. Please attempt to follow the spirit of the rules here (play if you're challenged).
3. INACTIVITYPlayers are required to fight at least one battle during every 4 days (96 hours). Failure to do so, will result in disqualification. Please make sure that if you join this event, you also have time to participate in it.
4. DECKBUILDINGThe following cards (and their upgraded versions) are restricted, and may not be used in decks by default.

Each player starts the event with 1 upgrade and access to 1 restricted card. As the event progresses, they will gain access to more upgraded cards and can use more cards that were previously restricted. Upgrades are not attached to a specific card, so if you have 3 upgrades you may have any 3 cards in your deck upgraded at a time. Restricted cards
ARE specific, so if you have access to Fire bolt and Dimensional Shield, you can't switch to using Nova and Discord instead. If you have access to a restricted card (whether it's the one you started with or one you acquired later in the event) you may use up to 6 copies of that card in your decks. Players can switch decks between duels. All Shards are prohibited.
5. BATTLEThe amount of battles will be based on the total # of upgraded cards between the two players.
# | Battles |
2-9 | Best-of-3 |
10-29 | Best-of-5 |
30+ | Best-of-7 |
6. AFTER BATTLEBoth winner and loser must post the result of their match and list their available "restricted cards" at the time of the match in the battle results topic. The winner also posts their new allowed cards and upgrades, based on the rules below.
The losing player is eliminated from the event, while the winner absorbs the power of the losing player. The winning player adds their opponent's number of allowed upgrades to their own. The winner also gains access to any restricted cards the loser had access to. If the winner already has access to one of the loser's cards, the winner may instead pick any card from the restricted cards list.
The more battles you win the stronger you will get, but as soon as you lose you are out.
Example: Players A and B fight a battle. Player A has 1 upgrade and can use Discord, and Player B has 2 upgrades and can use both Discord and Bonewall. Player A is the winner. Player B is eliminated, and his 2 upgrades are now the property of Player A. Player A may now also use Bonewall, and since player A already has Discord he may choose another card from the restricted card list. Player B posts that he lost to A, and notes that he had 2 upgrades, Discord, and Bonewall. Player A makes a similar post for the win, and also includes his new upgrades and cards: 3 upgrades, Discord, Bonewall, and his newly selected card Poison.
7. WINNERThere can only be one, so battles naturally go on until we have only one player standing. The epic final battle of this event must be announced by the players, at least 24 hours before it happens. This way people have a chance to observe it in chat. Announcing is done by either player posting the time of the final battle in the main topic of this event. The winner must be determined by battle, so the 4 day rule does not apply once there are only 2 players left.
8. REWARDThe winner of the event will receive the following forum award icon:
