Hey all,
how much score do you need for level 60?

Thanks!
If you're weak, then run, but toward your enemy

on topic about level, off topic about searching before you start a thread...

i understand a few people blew ungodly amounts of time farming stupid easy ai3 for score, but its time to move on.  the fact that points carried over to the new arena makes no sense whatsoever, that we are basing the ability to create better submitted arena decks on whether you farmed score months or years ago...why why WHY?

heres a far far better alternative.  all platinum decks get 70 skill points.  all gold 50.  silver 30.  bronze 10.  thats 2x mark 200HP or 3x mark 150HP platinum for example

new score system for players.  2 points for a win, 3 points for an EM win, and -1 point for a loss.  reset every week. -edit-  minimum 25 games or something
remove decks at day 8.  no freebies
rewards to weekly champions (cool title for their deck that week "Zombie0 the Golden Champion" (for example), hall of fame, etc)
each league stats kept separate
leaderboard for submitted decks is cool.  keep that.

the biggest issue is "without the current score system, how do we decide which league people should submit decks for?"  thats an excellent question but it needs a current good answer.  bit low on the brain wattage atm, gimme a bit to think on it (or suggest something obvious and better before i hurt myself, please!)
Zombie0 gives 110 percent whenever he's in the arena. He's a team player who delivers both offensively and defensively. He has no idea what a Quantum is.

i know 10men is.  the point is not to hate on his long standing effort and dedication, or anyones.

the point is that score is traditionally = the amount of :electrum a player has won.  when you reach gold you have at least 19000 :electrum to work with (assuming you dont waste it), topping off at 81000 :electrum before you move on.  thats a good mechanic.  the cutoffs might need to be adjusted, but it generally works for what its trying to achieve.

on the other hand, score for just scores sake (especially once you get to platinum) loses all meaning.  i can personally make any deck i please by now unless it requires nymphs, but my submitted decks will always be weaker than players that have more score.  10men has done nothing IN ARENA to deserve his decks always getting 50 more HP, or 1 extra mark than mine.  while i do enjoy playing arena because winning as an underdog always feels good, we are missing the opportunity to play as an updated and current community.  using the 2 point 3 point -1 point system from above example, i would be competing against other players AND against the juiced up AI.

Why? To add incentive for grinding, which means more incentive to actually keep playing Elements.

heres a far far better alternative.  all platinum decks get 70 skill points.  all gold 50.  silver 30.  bronze 10.  thats 2x mark 200HP or 3x mark 150HP platinum for example
With this alternative, there would be much less incentive to grind, which would mean Elements isn't as fun to play.

new score system for players.  2 points for a win, 3 points for an EM win, and -1 point for a loss.  reset every week.
Ugh, no, this wouldn't work at all. It would mean that Gold and Platinum are purely a contest of getting the most plays, and that decks submitted to Bronze start out in the Top 100, and it becomes a contest of getting as few plays as possible.

Resetting every week wouldn't work: it would mean you need to have a good card on Day 1 or 2 in order to have a top ranking deck. That would make Arena even more luck than it already is.

-edit-  minimum 25 games or something
This doesn't even make any sense. If it takes 25 games to reach the ratings, how will your deck get 25 games?

remove decks at day 8.  no freebies
Not a bad idea, actually.

rewards to weekly champions (cool title for their deck that week "Zombie0 the Golden Champion" (for example), hall of fame, etc)
each league stats kept separate
leaderboard for submitted decks is cool.  keep that.
The top players already make a lot of electrum.

The current system is fine.
Somehow still around, somewhat

the current system is not fine.  heres why.

grinding for the sake of grinding is a terrible concept.  grinding needs a purpose.  perhaps you think that making our submitted decks more powerful is what elements is all about.  i disagree.

why do you think players spent so much time farming ai3?  because it was fun to pound weak decks into the ground?  no, i suggest that many people wanted to be in a competition with other players without having to deal with broken pvp mechanics.

maybe you missed the point earlier.  i am suggesting a new score for PLAYERS, not the submitted decks.  the points per win / EM / loss can be tweaked (they were just small arbitrary numbers anyways, just like gain per win/loss for submitted decks now).  players should be competing with each other to see who is the best at winning in arena.  -DISCLAIMER-  this suggested system is probably most appropriate for platinum+.  while people are collecting cards and :electrum, the current system is fine.  grinding to gather all the cards and upgrades takes a while, current score is potentially capable of gating the content until that point.

its been proven again and again.  challenging just for the sake of challenging isnt good enough for players.  we need competition to go with the challenge, THATS how you will keep people entertained.  the ability to create a meaningful endgame that players stay addicted to is such an important part of game development and design.

i honestly think you completely misunderstood my entire suggestion RootRanger.  i dont give a hoot about submitted decks.  its fine that players use their unlimited time and effort to create the content for arena (submitted decks).  its not fine that how well i play, win, and lose as a PLAYER is completely hollow and empty.  that im supposed to care more about a submitted deck i never see in action more than my ability to play well in arena is completely disappointing.  we submit the hardest and craziest decks we can, but have no purpose to actually play against them.  thats horrible.
