Title: GOOD lasting decks that you took down from the arena.
Post by: Rastafla on July 11, 2011, 08:09:44 pm
I hoped that Essence's thread So what did you just take down from the Arena? (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28144.0.html) would become a collection of successful decks with higher positions, decks that reach at least top 50 least 6 days old (or top30 and 5 days old? I don't know which range that would be best, yet) before being put down so that there could be a form of comparison between them (at 6 days old they start failing alot more often and start to drop in rating due to the initial HP pool). Sadly enough it became just a jumble of decks with incomplete stats and such a huge difference in how well they performed that the info couldn't be over viewed.

I'll provide the first deck.

EDIT
The point of this (possibly these threads) thread is to give out ideas to people. To give suggestions on what to build and to see if a certain combo works better when turned into something else by their own oracle card.

I got one coming once I take it down.  Doing pretty damn well so far, though:

I'll try to remember to post mine as well when I take it down..lost its first game while I was still testing it, then won the next 50 in a row and peaked(so far) at 16th in platinum before finally losing a couple more times(weird how these losses always seem to clump together for me).

And I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the age of the deck in determining which ones qualify here or not.  Keep in mind a lower level player's deck will need to be pulled sooner than a higher level one regardless of how good it actually is simply because if both decks have everything else fully upped, the lower level player will have fewer points to place into hp and thus will be more affected by the aging penalty.  I'm currently level 67 for example so my deck would start out with 135 hp whereas a level 80 player's deck would still have that much hp left on day *6*.  I'd say just go by what the highest ranking the deck achieved was, regardless of age.  Just getting into the higher rankings at all looks like it will take 2-3 days at least now.

Thats what i mean, that one got promise! Also your OP in your thread is the best deck yet with rank 4 when taken down. That have been posted publicly i mean.

One more thing, your thread got several users with decks that doesn't work well but from the first glance seems like they should. IMO this is excellent - there should be two sister threads. One with mass posting of every kind of deck no matter the stats and one thread showing off the top tier ones. I contemplated top 10 but assumed that too few would like to share them even though this community have been built around sharing info on how to build the best there is.

The reason for the age to be set at 5 or 6 is that time is needed in platinum to accumulate the necessary rating/total games and platinum is not moving that fast and as to not get plastered with massive amounts of decks.

Don't know how to handle Bronze or Silver yet. I'm open to all suggestions.

175 HP. 30 Upgraded Cards. 2X Mark. Double Draw.

This deck was originally the not-so-original CP Wyrm. I took it down on the day I got Sapphire Charger as my Oracle card (see below).
105 HP. 60 Upgraded Cards. 3X Mark. Double Draw.

Lost its first game, just like Honduri, but then it started winning non-stop. Sadly though, it isn't getting many plays so I took it down today and put up a deck with Light Pillars in it. I'll report that one once I take it down.
More to come! My Light Pillar deck is doing well so far. :)

Depending on what works best there might need to be 2-4 topics, each covering one league of its own or two etc in each of the league sub forums.

Then you should start a few in each league right away! I love seeing arena decks and be inspired by creative ideas!

Btw what's your definition of good? Will top 50 rank do?

Gold and Platinum is pretty similar and as i mentioned before the age requirement is simply there to stem the tide of decks.Top 30 might be more prudent and remember that the arena is still young. ALOT of decks can get into top 50 in a couple of days. The ability to stay is what separates the good from the rest in gold and platinum.

I have no idea how fast bronze and silver moves. You have to wage the amount of possible decks with teh amount of users who can submit and use the forum. Is it even feasible to have one for bronze? Bronze probably should be limited to top 10 (wild guess) and only win/loss ratio.
Silver no guess at all.

On a side note
Good is different for each league. I would prefer if someone who feels they have a grip on bronze and silver made those topics.
(Does a single deck in bronze have a more wins than losses? Considering people can attack it with fast rushes that wins more than they lose theoretically the answer is "No none have positive stats in the end", while another thought says that all the mediocre and casual players with no idea of the forum and deck theory knowledge fights the bronze arena could lose in staggering amounts to the better decks. I don't know, I don't do bronze and as such someone else have ot come up with a good solution to how to handle bronze.)

As the higher decks are posted we will see a trend in rating. Rating is after all the best way to determine if a deck is good i assume.
Then we could decide upon a limit there instead. Possibly it would remove the need for age, or make age the second deciding factor when determining which deck is better when two are compared.

EDIT
The point of this (possibly these threads) thread is to give out ideas to people. To give suggestions on what to build and to see if a certain combo works better when turned into something else by their own oracle card.

Please edit so people know which league, rating would be lovely too. Wins and losses is nice but not terribly important.

Wanna ratings? My deck did pretty well. It had 104-5 yesterday night, but now with this HP level, I suppose its much weaker. Looks like its time to create an adrenaline deck. :P

Anyway, I feel unconfortable about posting it. And I dont like the fact you guys are posting all these powerful decks here. Whats the next step? Create threads about the best decks you can construct with each cards? lol, lets avoid that :) I admit I would be less creative and would try a lot less to develop my own deck if there were already a collection of great decks to be copy-pasted.

Of course, I wont ask people to discontinue it, I just wont participate. ;)

I agree with Marv 100%.
It's better to give suggestions on decks to use vs differnet leagues than have a list of decks anyone can copy instead of making something new.

Yes, because it isn't unreasonable to help every person who spins the Oracle by suggesting a deck for every one of them.

I agree with him about discontinuing these kinds of posts. I personally am a newbie, and am for sure going to copy the successful decks I've seen here if I'm given a card that matches the one in them. I mean, why wouldn't I?
Now just get a larger amount of people posting their successful decks and there are even more opportunities for people like me to copy them! And keep in mind that the deck will work for any card the oracle gives you so long as the deck has 5 of it in it. Whether it is the card the oracle gave the original person or not is irrelevant. So please do stop and let's just leave them with an oracleBow to use. xD

Might be a valid point about not sharing too many of these decks, but on the other hand the people who would just copy a deck and put it up are probably going to do so regardless of whether this thread is here.  Without it though, they'd just copy the generic speedbow and add their card in, so at least here there would still be a greater variety of decks(and stronger ones too).  However it might still be good to keep things somewhat limited and only have a few decks up at a time to serve as examples while not showing EVERY possible card.  A moderator could remove older decks every so often or only save the absolute best of the best

Well, the trouble is finding which generic speedbow to use. How would a bad player know which speedbow is a quality deck, and which one was made and posted by another bad player?
Also, I think that the bad decks should be saved, not the best of the best. The bad decks give people ideas without allowing them to copy something and do well with it.

I've never understood why some people are so anal about sharing their decks. Must be a freudian thing. If you've made the deck and it comes up in a fight, it's public already. It's just a matter of taking notes of which cards you had in that deck.
Title: Re: GOOD lasting decks that you took down from the arena.
Post by: RootRanger on July 12, 2011, 04:57:53 am
Um, after 5 days 117 people have played my deck and seen about 20 cards in it. At most, 10 of those people took notes, and built an inaccurate picture of my deck due to lack of info. If I post it on the forums, hundreds of people will have the exact code. There's a huge difference. I'll let people post their Arena decks if they really want to, but it's ridiculous for you to think that I should as well if I don't want to.

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. - Matthew 7:9-12

Toge, your example is completely invalid. In your example, giving gifts to someone does not hurt others.
Deckbuilding is different. If the best player posts the best decks, it makes all of the good player's original decks no longer become worth using. It would ruin the deckbuilding experience. It seems like you want to ruin deckbuilding, which is the only reason some people like me even play. So thanks for trying to make me quit.

You know that's not very nice right?

Actually I think root's opinion had its merit, however too many good decks have already been posted. Like in CL people can just use posted decks and win.
I don't like to use others' deck but, it's too tempting, I just used bonebolt at my last PvP.

also a reply to Parasite99, Asinickle, wavedash and others who doesn't want to share their decks. They AREN'T secret and will never be, all it takes is for someone to face them to figure out how they work. The reason no deck remains a secret ever is that in every CL/BL or Tournament or Event you always figure the opponents deck out and copies it. Any respectable deckbuilder and theorist does this in mere minutes, I certainly do and builds a counter or perfects their deck just as easy. Its utterly pointless to try, the only thing we can do is to constantly build new decks and perfect old ones and incorporate new ideas to them. (hence an archive of good decks)

An IMPORTANT reason to share decks is that it will increase the quality of the Arena and we all want that. Players can't reliably counter everything most of the time and the people who doesn't pay heed to the forum will still hammer away at the arena with subpar submissions, I for one see a hell of a lot of crappy decks in gold and platinum. You are still going to rack up the wins due to the bonuses. Also posting all the successful decks will lessen the generic rainbow decks I hope. Without sharing info we can't work to make a better arena quickly enough, I have come to believe that we have few competent deck builders considering that rank 100+ pose little threat.

I am largely disappointed with what i face and this should help that.

Hehe rastafla I remember seeing your gravity nymph deck and being SO jealous you got one :p  I think I got locked down on turn 3 with black hole spam and just quit.
I would have preferred to get charger or gravity tower as i already have 4 amber nymphs. My deck could easily have been improved by swapping 2 out of the forced 5 nymphs into something else and just bringing 3 of my own ambers. Because in testing the AI often played overdrive on the nymph (which was the only creature in play) even though that was a bad choice

Please when posting put bigger images within spoilers

I still prefer people use their brains and make a deck after they face it, even if it will not be the same or so effective, than everyone reading a thread and without thinking submitting a deck for any card they got from oracle. I don't like to see the same deck for each card by everyone. I don't have anything against you Rastafla, I just have a different opinion about these kind of topics.

I know it's so tempting to choose a deck that someone had tried before and I also did it many times in the past.
It will remove the variety that arena has at this point though amd that is something I don't think anyone wants to see.

I also played MtG for many years ,but I am fairly new to Elements. Deckbuilding was allways a challenge and the most exciting part of those games.
There is nothing more rewarding than making your own deck and see it work well.
Also changing 1-2 cards in your deck may have huge results differneces on these games and that's the reason I dont think people will be more succesfull than the deck creator when they will try to copy from what they saw during a game.

- I know that in Elements cards don't change so often, so there will be some very powerfull decks that are stronger for a given card. But I really want to restrict it even to myself using other people decks (while it is so tempting) and I can't even resist on doing so if there is a whole list of decks that work well in Arena. As I said before imho it would be more helpfull submitting decks that work well vs Arena than what to submit decks for every card Oracle gives you. Let people play vs Arena and if they figure out some decks they can use it. At least they will use their brain and play some games during that time and probably learn something through that proccess.

I believe that you all overestimate what people are capable of submitting into the arena. Just because a deck is given doesn't mean that everyone with that card will suddenly use a deck that correspond to it. Few are rich in this game and even fewer read the forum. Very few people have anything outside the standard FG farming decks and ai3 + old t50 farmer. This is probably the reason why so many decks in the arena is crap.

If you at all are capable of copying a deck this is no problem whatsoever, whats best is easy to figure out with a little testing and thinking. Also filling out the blanks is easy with everything but rainbows and those can be done once you know the meta game.

People share decks all the time vs the AI and this is the same but in reverse since its not you who are playing someone else, its the AI playing for you. There is no satisfaction when the AI will simply butcher the deck and not play it to the best of the decks ability and you are not in control.

The end result is the same in both cases, you get coins and the opposition becomes stronger and everyone wins. Withholding deck information changes nothing except making the evolution of better decks slower.

I think it's hypocritical to say out of one side of your mouth that the Arena is too uniform/predictable and then out the other side say that you're unwilling to share your tech.  Sharing tech is how you teach people how to do things other than what they're currently doing.
Title: Re: GOOD lasting decks that you took down from the arena.
Post by: parasite99 on July 12, 2011, 07:12:52 pm
I just don't get what you are trying to do here?
Are you trying to make Arena even harder?
If everyone reading the forums can submit a deck that was at top 10 (if they have the cards) then that exactly will happen.

I see all over on the forums (and chat) people complaining about the amount of games they get on their decks. Rewards are low (as some say - and I agree) and platinum is atm very hard to beat by most people, since decks tend to have tremendous amounds of PC or healing.

If you want even less people to play Arena then it will be also pointless for forum members to know what decks to use. I hope all this won't turn into a "boomerang" and make more harm than good.

As I said before, I also have copied other member's decks that were posted in the past (some times I try to tweak or mod them to my needs or thoughts and sometimes I use them unchanged)  and may do it again if I feel that way. There are times when you don't have time to build a deck after work, or no idea in which deck to use a card in, or even don't have the cards for a deck you wanted to make. So some times you have to throw a card in a deck to submit something for that day. Some of these decks also worked really well against all expectations.
I am also willing to help anyone who needs help in his deck and asks how to improve it. But it's gonna be HIS deck and we can help with suggestions and tips to make it work better. I just disagree with having a big list to choose from when you get X card from Oracle.

That's all I wanted to say and hope you understand my point. It is my opinion and as anyone's opinion it can be wrong or stupid, but it is not hypocritical as Essence said (I don't know if it was meant to be about me or everyone disagreeing) because what you are trying to do here will make Arena more "uniform/predictable" than it already is. Also Rastafla you did mention me and 2 other new guys in your reply about disagreeing. Though I think Marv, Root, Selvaria and Hodari (with some new suggestion about removing older decks) also disagreed with that kind of topic, so I mention them since I agree with their opinion.

Also once again I know how much Rastafla and Eseence did (and do) for this community and I appreciate everything. I also learned alot from your posts guys!
It just happens that I have a different opinion on this subject.

P.S. - English is not my native language and I am trying to express myself as good as I can.

Boring deck, I realise that. Sadly decks like these generally do well. The black holes destroy rainbows while discord messes with everything else.

Trying to make the arena more diverse in its decks and stronger decks.

The arena will never be uniform/predictable due to the constant submissions. Ideas is what fuels creativity, and there are few things as potent as images to give people ideas and inspiration, pictures are universal human media after all. This is why its better to share decks to get away from the rainbows. Because the antidote to rainbows is the proof that decks outside them work and this is something I'm trying to bring across! If no one share decks we will continue to have all the rainbows in arena. (note that i dont mind them due to my amber nymphs, thank you gold and platinum rainbows for giving me countless EMs)

Platinum isn't too hard, many decks are equal to FGs or less. Platinum is not a problem for people in that range themselves save for a few decks with fortuitous oracle cards. A lot of decks in Platinum isnt even fully upgraded, people have few coins to spend on cards other than rainbow friendly cards, this is one of my guesses.

"Ideas is what fuels creativity, and there are few things as potent as images to give people a powerful deck to simply copy and paste.".

I dislike having lots of rainbows, but I think people should try their own decks, and I really really doubt this will fuel any creativity. Suppose Im a casual player and I suck at deck building. I get Puffer Fish as oracle card. Why should I try something new instead of just copy this deck from the forum?

People should try submitting decks and fail, if they dont have enough skill. Help crappy people having superb decks is not something i call 'positive'. Just my 2 cents.

So if I have a Rainbow that peaks at #1 in Gold League, you don't want me to post it, right?

Gotta say I'm really appreciating this topic.

What I don't appreciate is a mixture of people who want to post decks and people who want to start a discussion about what the point of the thread is. Can we please start seperate topics for either discussion or decks?

Either way, in general I'd say EQ, Discord, Blackhole, Steal/explosion decks do really well. Rainbow decks aren;t bad either ;)

When life gives me a speedbow card, I make a speedbow. :) Precognition is a speedbow card...

This here was ranked first in platinum for the past two days: (2x draw, 2x mark, 30 upgrades, 175 HP)  (+5x Precognition)

Code: [Select]
4sa 5f6 5ie 5og 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u5 713 745 74a 74f 74f 77g 7ah 7dm 7dq 7ju 7n3 7t9 7tf 80g
The final record was 120/11, but that was the HP loss taking its toll on day seven. It had been at a more respectable 105/6 before. The rating peaked at something over 1100 or 1200 (don't remember).

Before 82/5 it had -1 Fog Shield,  -1 Quantum Tower, +1 Ghost of the Past (upgraded), +1 Quantum Pillar... then I found zombie0's thread and decided the deck needed more staying power. Not that it changed much immediately, but since the deck was up for seven days it probably played more of a role later on (and GotP was a bad choice anyway).

I'd like to make a post about "good" Bronze decks.
I'm currently ranked 22 in Bronze league, after 3 days.

To me, the qualifications for a good bronze deck are a mixture of the following elements:

1) Usually faster than a deck like grabbix.
2) A bunch of CC (rewinds, lightnings, BBs)+Slightly slower speed
3) A slightly slower deck (than 1) with ALOT of HP
4) Dim shield stalling.

And most of all, your deck needs luck.
Luck to
1) Have a decent hand your first games. There are enough people in Bronze to knock you out if your deck gets consistant bad draws.
2) Get enough plays. Stressed in every league.
3) Avoid Upped farmers. Most unupped decks won't come close to something an upped farmer will be able to bring. The less upped farmers you play, the better your chances are reaching higher ranks.

I'll post my deck when I take it out (assuming top 20ish is acceptable).

Posted it already in Essence's deck but I thought I might put it up here as well. I figure it's already public anyway so the whole "letting noobs see it" point is moot.

Final score was 42-13, with an age of 4 days. Last 5 losses were from the last day alone, and 2 were from myself (which sadly pushed it down to the bottom of the top 500...). Highest rank it got was 65.

Okay I think I've got one for this thread.

Oracle card was precognition, so making a SNbow seemed the way to go.

Final stats were 50-7 in gold league, ending at rank 44, after 5 days (so 5 days old).
Best was 36-3 on day 3 at rank 27.

Oracle card: earth pendulum, level 74, hp 160, rest all max.

Didn't think that would work, but it went 27 - 0, peaked on #32 in Platinum league before slowly drifting down again and finishing in the 240's with 1hp.

Standard adrenascorps have an EQ, Werewolf, Physalia, CC, PC, momentum and nova's? :)
I see what you mean though, but in my opinion this is both an inventive and original implementation of adrenascorps!

i played platinum a lot, and - tbh - i never saw such a deck, even no similar one.

yes, of course, you face decks with scorpions and adrenaline (caused by the fact, you could get these cards by the oracle, and great life cards), but i prefered novas over pillars, cause you have more possibilities (like novagrabbies) and with the doubledraw its also faster. werewolf for a "bigger" creature and to spend entropy and death quanta, physalia for even more poison, fast first turn rushes and also suitable for adrenaline, momentums and deflags against shields and heavy creaturecontrol to slow down opponent/prevent otys etc., eq also for slowdown opponent/prevent shieldlocks too.

i thought it will do nice, when i built it, never thought it will do that good.

Got Explosions. Didn't want to be an ass for lack of a better word (aka play Firestall/Fire-rush), so I went mostly Mono-Gravy with Explosions splashed in. Chargers for fast damage, Otys for CC, Explosions for PC (of course), and BHs for Rainbow-hate+healing alongside SoGs. Threw the Chimera because just in case, and, well, Chimera needs more love.

200 HP, 20 Wisdom, 2x Mark, 2x Dexterity.

Actually the first two days had Firemasters instead of Chargers -- didn't really work (was 14-4) -- even with Pends the Fire production was apparently starved. On suggestion from Gumbeh (IIRC), I switched to Chargers, so technically the current deck is 14-1. Much better odds. I'd keep it up for a bit more but I got Gargoyles so I'm switching back to my favorite Arena deck. =D

I got depressed from my creative ideas consistently failing, so I took a stroll on the dark side. That got me even more depressed; for a couple of weeks now I've had basically the same deck up and it's consistently winning like 95%. Here's the current 14-0 list with steal from oracle:

200 hp
30 ups
2x mark
2x draws
(level 66 needed)

Previously I've had at least a version with purple dragon from oracle, 20 ups and 3x mark and another one with grav pend from oracle, same stats as this one, and an emphasis on mana denial. Usually I'd have a couple of pulvys and a few explosions with one or two deflags as unupped cards, but I figured the steals were enough perm control this time.

It's oraclebow all over again, except stronger. Haters gonna hate.

^ Err mark is supposed to be entropy, right? Not a big secret that a relatively fast build with cc/pc/rush will do well really, any deck with those 3 and arena benefits will likely make top 25. :P

Yes, obviously, thank you. I know the deck is obvious but I don't think I've seen it mentioned much or faced it that much while playing, and I expected it to do at least slightly worse. I don't know, maybe I've been just looking at the wrong threads and not paying attention. You can do a decent build with like half the possible cards with not many of them offering better alternatives, so it should be realistic to always have a deck like this up. It's just dumb.

For that last deck Antagon, was your oracle card Nova, Graboid, or Earth Pendulum?  Looks like a pretty good deck, although I am baffled at the use of Fallen Druid, as the AI tends not to use it except on either opponent's vastly OP creatures, its own crap creatures like photon (you don't have any it would mutate) or its own antimattered creatures.

I wonder if there will be a feature added that tells you the peak of your arena deck. Like if it reached rank 2 while you were gone, but when you came back, it had fallen to rank 333, it should still tell you that the peak of your deck was 2.

I think someone already made a thread about this, don't know where but it's up to discussion somewhere, good idea, though.

Got Fractal and was debating Pestal or Fractix, but decided in the end on Fractal Chargers. BH was for rainbow hate+healing.

Went 14-1 and 29-2 on the first and second day respectively, but apparently the -8 HP from the fourth day on was too much -- got 4 losses that day for 38-8. After only getting four more plays today I took it down.

Max Stamina and Dexterity, 2x Mark and 20 Wisdom.

EDIT: also, peaked at rank ~80.

I have a pretty good one in the arena right now.  After 6 days it's 64-1, but I'm not taking it down yet :)  It's got the basic cremation/lava destroyer core, but I've improved upon what most people usually do with it by adding a few cards most people don't normally put in it.  Yeah, yeah, fire I know, but the card was lava golem; what was I to do?  At least technically mine is a rainbow deck :p

Adding one cost rainbow cards you play from immolation doesn't make it original or anything worth posting imo! Just keep it to yourself please.

how dare you!  adding a splash of something is brilliant and innovative!  <hugs golem deck>  :-*

trusting the AI to do ANYTHING that makes sense is a tall order.  heck, i made a pharaoh deck with nothing but rewind, pharaohs, and scarabs.  it would pile up 50+ time quantum WITH A FULL HAND OF CARDS.  was tempted to add some precogs just to snoop on it, find out what was going on!

plus, the topic is good lasting decks.  not good original decks right?

I'm amazed at how good this random mono deck I threw together was. 77-41 by the time I take it down a week later. I've gained like 3 or 4 arena levels in that time lol. Peaked at rank 9, and I'm removing it now when it's rank 67 with 47hp.

So, strangely enough I got Fractal only a couple of days after I took down my last Fractal Chargers...so of course I decided to be lazy and go with the same deck.

Amazingly, it went undefeated the first two days and just kept rising through the ranks. It peaked at rank 7 of all things, on the 6th day too.

My deck was for a moment the highest-ranked that didn't have a fire, entropy, or darkness mark (usually the top decks in any league). This is the best that one of my Arena decks has ever done, and if I ever get Fractal again I'm definitely going back to this deck.

Being steamrolled several times in WoE by mono-Water rushes gave me a new respect for said Water rushes, so when I got a Crawler from the Oracle I decided to make one of my own. This was the result:

It topped out shortly after at rank 32, then the HP loss brought it down. It's now at 55/17 with rank 94.

Went with the idea because, hey, why not? I didn't think I'd be so successful with it though -- it only had 1 loss for the first five days. Something brilliant about this deck that I stumbled onto was that Discord/BH decks like the popular TADAbow don't work as well, because you can use any quanta to play the Gavels and AWs. The low cost of both also make up for the more expensive Chargers and the fact that most of the early :gravity is spent on BHs to deny farmers.

3 X upgrades (so 3 of the chrysaora should be upped)
165 hp to start with

Managed to go 29 wins straight up until midway through day 3, where it got to 31-2. Managed to make it twice to the top of gold league (rank 1). Modified the deck on day 6 due to HP loss changing mark to 1 to give it more hp and swapped some pillars for pendulums. Final score was 56-7 (rank 7) at the start of day 8 where I had to change my deck.

You'll always get some number of thumb-ups no matter what you put up, and 6 out of 15 isn't much. I got at least as many with basically the same deck with different card ratios. Monopoison rush with SoSas is currently one of the most common and boring decks and this one doesn't even play anything surprising so meh. Personally I thumb-up everything because why would I not give people free gold when it costs me nothing, and I think the whole system is retarded anyway. I suspect you got your bonuses from other like-minded players.

Also, the OP asks for decks that survived at least 5 or 6 days and ended up in high ranks, there's another thread for random arena decks.

This is probably the most boring deck in the arena maybe second to SoSa monopoison rush, but it's my first #1 spot so whatever. Let me have this. Took first at the fourth day with 47-0 and kept it until the end of the seventh day, dropping momentarily on the first and the last days.

Now a shard farm instead. SoDs and SoGs though since I don't have 6x of any of the new ones. It's still second at the moment with enough score to take a couple of losses so there's some nice EM cash up for grabs.

Card was Air Pendulum, the deck got 9 thumbs up and peaked at rank 25 for thirty glorious seconds (it lost a game just after I took this screenie).

It finally started to pick up more losses today and is now 20-6. I'll probably replace it when it drops out, or when I get a better card. :P

Quite basic rainbow, I think the stats were 54-2 at best. Reached #1 on 6th day and it was my first one to reach high ranks in platinum league. Quite happy to see this happen now as I'll be going to the army tomorrow and can't play anymore for few weeks.

I just took down the deck shown below from the gold league at age 7-days (42HP), it has reached the #1 spot last night and was moving around the 1-3 positions for the day. My previous best result was rank#72 prior to this deck, so it is quite an improvement  :))

Too many early losses stopped this from going higher, but it spent three whole days in the top 50 before peaking at #20 on Day 7. It even got 6 wins with 62 HP... just goes to show how far 12 RTs can go to lock down a deck.

And yes, this was my last gold league deck. Hello SPlat, and whatever else people are using as farmers.

Relic is Shard Of Sacrifice

Oracle card is Momentum

Double Draw, 30 uprgarded cards limit, normal mark and 200Hp

I play plenty of towers to be almost sure to be able to Scorpion/Unstoppable on Turn 2, with even sometimes SoD on Turn 1

Quantum tower is here to feed the possible opponnent's Pest and the SoD

I have to admit I only own 5 SoS, maybe I would have played 6 if able to, but with double draw you never run out of SoS

The Sundial is tricky as you play it without playing a SoS, the opponnent fills his board waiting for a big crush on his next turn, and that's where you play a SoS that will lead you to EM

The deck is 2nd place with score 44-7, 7 days old as I'm writing

I know this deck is quite obvious and not a discovery, but I'm here to tell it is still in the place ;)

I saw your deck on the arena front page! Yeah. Pandebonium is quite powerful. Why'd you up those cards though? Why not that other arsenic? Or more bonewalls? Why just 2 arsenics, 2 poisons, and a bonewall, or was it because you just picked those on a whim?
Title: Re: GOOD lasting decks that you took down from the arena.

The Bone wall is upped because it's my oracle card. then My alt doesn't have 3 arsenic upped so I putted only 2 :D and finally I had 2 more uppgrade to put so I think that poison is the very best card to uppgrade for this deck.

The initial build of the deck was as shown in the picture, on day 8 when it got down to 1HP, I added 6 SoDs and thrown out the CPs.

It had double draw, max upgrades, 2x mark initially and 170HP, but later I changed to max health instead of 2x mark when its HP was dropping too low.

First few days it went 41:1, then reached rank #1 on day 6 with 52:2, its rating peaked at 558 on day 8 with 63:2 win/loss ratio. Took down on day 9, it was still #1 in the morning (see attached snapshot), but dropped to #2 by now.

Card was steal, so I decided to go for a fast mono death rush with a mark of :darkness powering the steals. Was quite powerful. I'm taking it down after 7 days, and right now it's 30-9 due to deck decay, but it was 15-1 and 20-2 earlier. Highest I saw it was rank10, which I think is quite good for being an oracledeck and not being a SNbow.

It all depends on whether or not the AI gets properly updated not to spam the SNs on the same turn, using 1-per-turn is more than enough for most SN-speedbows to work just fine.
So if 1.30 comes out with the singularity nerf added to SN, but without a corresponding AI upgrade, then it is a demise for the arena, making it very easy to farm.
OTOH, if the AI is updated for it properly, then it will not make a significant change in the meta, just a slight slow-down in TTW.

I was facing a Dishole in Bronze League.

First I found that it had only 1 HP so I laughed and said to myself, "I got it"

Then I only drew one pillar....

Worse still, the discord appeared at the 2nd turn.

Got quanta-locked for the first 5 turns but the AI put out a dragon and I happened to have 2 :darkness for a nightmare

Once again, the nightmare saved me.

Got annoyed by all the "similar" decks that have been made with this card in the Arena, so I thought I'd give it a twist.

(http://imageplay.net/img/tya22260362/puffermare.png):: Puffermare ::

200 Hp

60 Ups

2x Mark

2x Dex
Peaked at Rank 2 on day 6, currently Rank 10, day 8. Going to leave it until I spin something that I can work with.
The only reason I'm posting it, is the fact that from the 45 wins so far, it only recieved 3, I mean three thumbs up.. I don't really care about it by default, but please, just explain that to me.

That Puffer has a evil smile, and the deck has a nice, unexplored 'synergy' of colors.

As I'm figuring out, the rating system in the arena still makes it based on what kind of oracle card you get. It just makes it luck based in a different way.

Before, it was that you could make an ultra powerful deck with the oracle card specifically. Now, it is "If you can make a deck that looks like it'll be a annoying deck, but then turns out to not be, even if it otherwise would have been seen as bad, it will be good."

To this extent, I present the Granite Golem Armada.

Granite Golem Armada
Spoiler for Hiden:
Record: 15-3 Age 2 30-5 Age 3 36-5 Age 4 50-10 Age 6 64-13 Age 7 73-19 Age 8 {Lvl: 76 HP: 200 Wis 60 Int x2} Peak Rank: 16 Thumbs Up: 32/73
At Day 7, -1 Lava Golem, -1 Steel Golem -2 Earth Pendulum, +4 Stone Pillar

I am willing to grant that it might be just because I actually bothered to use Steel Golems and Granite Skin. Being perfectly honest, using Lava Golem in a Fire/Earth duo with the Fire as the minor works strangely well.

(Since the post didn't actually shift over in the forum transfer, cping it here)

Only :air creatures can evade, but all airborne cards get the crit chance. Other than that, I'm a bit disappointed to see that awesomely creative deck only get 38/90 thumbs ups. I would've definitely given it a thumbs up since it's pretty creative.

Spent most of the days 4-6 third and second behind Tiko's Arsenic/Water. On the seventh day I took out the SoSas at 72hp and got the first spot thanks to Tiko taking his deck down. Got a decent amount of thumb-ups which really surprised me since this is basically the dumbest, most hated arena deck with a different mark, but sure, I'll take it.

Water mark for Purifies is the new Fire mark for Explosions.

It was quite a long way to go until I finally figured out how to make more than 1000 :electrum with an Arena deck. Honestly, I'm very disappointed of you, the players. This was rather thrown together, is prone to very bad draws, is not very fast in damage output, has an ugly quanta balance and contains more than enough parts that would make me thumb it down immediately. But still many thanks to :death for farming another upgrade for Team :life :P I hereby present my Flying Arsenics Poison Dials SoSac with a dragon:

Because of the recent Arena SoSac nerf (AI will never play more than 6), I recommend Arena deck designers to clean up their creation by only including four SoSacs. Enough to annoy.

I made some shard farm decks. apparently they are always able to win as long as you put in some SoR and SoSe. As for the rest it seems that it doesn't really matter xP

Not down yet, but on the way down. Rank 1 Mono Water ( :water ) in Platinum. Might have something to do with how it absolutely dominates SoSa, Instosis, and Shard of Focus all at the same time.

Another >1000 electrum salvage. Quickly built Mono Water is obviously OP in Plat. But doesn't get as many thumbs up as an annoying poison deck (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28523.msg492273.html#msg492273) (I don't deem it worth a single one, by the way).

Via the official Mono-Element definition.

Mono-deck definition
The forum definition of mono-decks changed at one point in history and this seems to be a source of confusion.  The current definition is "Cards from only one element and "Other".  Mark is irrelevant.

The definition is not
  • decks that use only one type of quanta
  • decks that use only cards that match the mark, where no "other" cards are allowed.
  • decks that use one air card and 59 aether cards
Animate Weapon is an Air card, Nova is an Entropy card, Photon is a Light card, and Spark is an Aether card.  If you have a mono-fire deck that uses any of these, it's not a mono-fire deck.  Please put your thread in the Duo- decks forum (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,3.0.html).

Mark: gravity

It's a mono-air deck because it only uses air cards and "other" cards.  Mark is irrelevant.
Mark: earth

An earth mark, an "other" card, and 25 fire cards would make this a mono-fire deck if it weren't for the four aether cards.  Despite them having zero cost and serving no real purpose other than Cremation fodder, the presence of the Ball Lightnings makes this a duo.

I personally would call this deck more of a  :water /  :rainbow Duo deck, which is a lot less facetious I agree, but that isn't a definition that is widely accepted. Although this is more or less a mono deck anyway, it's just that Water has high enough rainbow synergy to actually make this work. (Edit: ... actually, no. :water /  :rainbow Duo deck is a definition I reserve for when a deck uses all kinds of other cards and would technically be called a rainbow, but centralizes around one element. This is just a mono-element deck that uses enough off-element quanta of different shades that it is all-around more efficient to simply go rainbow.)

And it's certainly nice to see  my deck gaining popularity and sway as well as being credited, although I'm getting worried at the implications of this being the new "Hair-Pulling" deck in Platinum. Granted I'm not so worried since I'm keeping track of winnings this time, and it has a 50% approval rate.

Speaking of, side note while I'm here, Tides of War is up again, been up for almost 3 days, Rank 7, and 13/26 Thumbs up. So expect an encore showing.
Part of the purpose is to test for if the Shard of Focus nerf affects the deck, and as I have predicted, the 1.31 patch nerf actually seems to be a buff rather than a nerf, at least in this Plat deck.

Took down Tides of War again, exact same deck as posted last time, except +1 Physila -1 Ulitharid.
Went 57-0 and stayed rank 1 for about 3 days straight. (Next check-in was 60-1, so somewhere in that it suffered first blood.)

Hypothesis confirmed, 1.31 patch if anything buffed Tides of War.

This was about the first time I put up a Fire deck, if I remember correctly. It's sad that the AI still doesn't know how to cremate Phoenixes, otherwise it would have been a lot faster. But it's still able to get rid of challengers quickly when they don't have mass creature control or Bone Walls among their first ten cards. And it's damn elegant for a Fire deck in my opinion.

I haven't been checking in as much as I probably should; I haven't signed into the game in several days (papers, papers galore) so I don't know the best rank it got. Couldn't think of anything really creative with the oracle card. On a side note, I found out the AI cremates Chrysaora and not Physalia.

Now 84-4 and 1 HP. I think I'll add some SoD's to the deck and let it be alive, so good luck defeating it :)
After several losses I'll make a new deck.

P. S. This is the first time my deck reached the 1 place, I suppose it is thanks to the nymphs.

Just my opinion, take it or leave it:

Ghostmares, Firestalls, Cremerushes, Antagonbows, and other cookie-cutter decks doing well isn't really surprising or interesting. Anyone who has farmed the arena has seen these decks dozens if not hundreds of times. They've been around forever, we all know those decks work pretty well, so unless you can point out an unusual tweak you've made to the formula, there's no need for anyone to mention their ability to copy a known good deck and make :electrum from it.

Silence, one of my most (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,36658.msg462437.html#msg462437) favourite cards (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,41024.msg508024.html#msg508024)! Most people build Mono Aether with this; I wanted to make a fast rush and power the card by a single Aether mark. First I thought about using Fire again but since the introduction of the new shards, there's an even faster rush available ...

Purifies had to be added for resistance against the popular poisonous SoSac decks. The rank of the deck varied very much, it looked like people were using very different Arena grinders or playing against this involves a lot of randomness. Nevertheless it managed to become my most successful Arena deck so far. I left it in Platinum during day 8 so that it became a pseudo-farm; in the end, 23 players got a chance to get a shard from it.

Got Nova and figured I'd put up a variant of the deck I've been farming plat with, this is +1 QT +1 Druid +1 Sanctuary +2 Purify from the original (though I've later added some Towers and Sundials to that one because of decking out vs SoSas). Now that I look at it again, I'm pretty sure it should have had more Towers instead of the random Sanctuary or something. What surprised me was the number of thumb-ups it got early on. I can't remember the exact stats but I believe it had at least over 70%. The deck started out winning like 20 straight and then only had one loss for a while, but dropped sharply halfway through its life. On the 6th day I only checked a couple of times early on but at one point it was 4th at I think 59-11. Now at the beginning of its 7th day it's 70-17 and already 50th.

But seriously, I thought I was submitting a lame standard novabow and suddenly tons of thumb-ups out of nowhere? People do realize SoSe and SoF are stupid good, right?
Title: Re: GOOD lasting decks that you took down from the arena.
Post by: Elite arbiter on June 28, 2012, 05:42:28 pm
Well, this is partly because playing the thumbs up game has little if anything to do with your actual deck. It has to do with defying expectations. When people see a supernova deck, they expect "Oh damnit another novarush, again with this same old deck!"

But then they see your deck, and while SoSe is powerful, the AI isn't good with it, and it is a refreshing change. Whether the deck itself is creative matters in a round about way, but if you put a creative deck up with a creative card, I find you get less thumbs than if you put it up with a powerful card from the same deck. For example, I know there's a twinge in me that wants to reward death rush decks just because they do not use SoSa. Kind of similar to the deck I have up, although that 'didn't' get thumbs that much.

Uhh my deck, well frankly I was surprised it did so well. I think it did well, it accomplished my first goal of getting in the top 10 ^.^ and second goal top 5; but not my last and foremost goal... Rank 1!
***Platinum***
Card is ***Mummy***

I think it was a very dull deck because its common, but I was happy it did so well o.o

Anyway here it is, I kind of forget some of the stats but I'm pretty sure this was it:

I forget if there are 11 or 10 towers, but the stats are:
Maxed Wisdom, Intellect, and Dexterity, then everything left into Stamina.

I think it could have made rank one but unfortunately by day 7 or 8 it had >50 hp and was just getting slaughtered...
Before the HP went to >100 it was 70/6 or something like that.
Final W/L was something like 78/10
Peek rank 4 (I think)

(Edited because I forgot the league)

Got to 35-2 on day 4, got to about 48-5 by day 6, then got to 51-19. People really liked this deck it seems, with having 39/51 Thumbs up. Of course it might be slightly less due to being up at rank 4-6 for a couple days, but I'm certain from the early times I looked that it has over half thumbs up.

Fixed the mark, and thats my fault for forgetting to change the mark of my farmer when pulling it up. It'd be a nice feature to be able to just lift code right out of the deck itself, but it isn't a priority by any means in comparison to improving the game itself.

Also, did you mean one of the first decks in the top slots? Or one of the first that I've made? Seems a bit ambiguous there.

I am not really proud of this one, I could have made something more original with the nymph. But whatever I tried the AI failed to play properly besides I get pretty much the same thumbs up/down regardless of the deck...
Basically a heavy posion deck with purifies to counter Splat/PoisonDials, the nymphs add some punch specially against purify (and some slow CC), 2(4) SoSac is often more than enough to delay the player's offense while dies by poison or induce a ragequit early ;P
It is a bit short on :death quanta, so it might be weak against quanta denial. But I don't think many people bring quanta denial against plat.

Bleh. I'm talking like I'm an expert plat deck maker, I'm really just a newbie, I reached plat 2-3 weeks ago ;P those^ are just my thoughts.

The deck at some point at age 5 had 54-6, but ended with 71-17 at Age 8.

I'm not entirely sure why this one received so much negative feedback. The deck is something with gravity without black hole, SoFo, or any of the typical gravity grievances. And the dark aspect keeps away from devourers. Oh well, at least I've never seen it in arena before, and it takes a new spin on the granted cards.

Mummy was card, so I made boring mono-death. 30 ups, double mark, dexternity, 200 HP. On day 3 I upped the death pends and one mummy. I thought that with the AI having no clue how to play it (playing Bone Wall and SoSa at the same time, for example) this would fail, but to my dismay:

The deck would peak at #3, my second-highest ever.

Probably the best arena deck I've ever had.

Highest Rank: ~18

Thumbs up: ~27%

At its peak it had over 100 rating and about a 3:1 win ratio. Considering I'm pleased to get over 100 electrum per deck, this was awesome for me.

The deck itself is something I've never quite seen before: a Scrambled Shriekers base, respun with Arsenics as a weapon. Yes, it uses SoFo. I liked this over a second Flayer because of the quanta balance. No regrets.

I could have used upped Arsenics, BWs, and an AW, but decided I liked this better. A nice amount of HP to gnaw through and a 2x mark for more stable Arsenics was preferable for me. And Dexterity is a give-me.

Best performance: 66-2 Age 6, quickly dropped off after that.
Best Rank: #1
Thumbs up: ~50% (Estimated from the first few days before it got to top ten.)

The thing about this deck is that it is sporadic. Sometimes, it would take upwards of 8 turns to kill somebody. Then other games it would do this.

In any case, it had measures to break over defenses, and even a couple bonds to help give it some late game against things it couldn't break down (usually SoSa decks I imagine).

38 wins, 10 losses (it had 3 yesterday) when taking it down, 7 days 16 thumbs up. Highest rank I saw it reach was 11.

Interesting choice to not upgrade and make it part air, as well as to have equal animates and weapons rather than +1 weapon over animate. I imagine people liked it far more than a generic vader sader.

In flying glories, I always use a 6/6 weapon to AW ratio. The reason I didn't pack all AW and make it all light was because I don't have 6 AW and I'm too lazy to up more. The two upgraded wings serve to soak up excess :air as well as provide defense.

Broke into the top 50 for the first time in Arena. Granted it was Mono Aether. I know, pretty lame.

Fully unupped. Maxed out dexterity, doubled mark and 170 HP.
7X Aether Pillar
7X Aether Pend
6X Dim Shield
6X Phase Dragon
5X Psion (Oracle's Card)
1X Shard of wisdom
3X Lobotomizer

Taking it down with a record of 40-17. It maxed out at rank 47 with a record 38-8.
Next time I'll splash darkness for steal to stop pulvy decks.

I'm really surprised at how well this deck did...got a Skeleton as a card, and I was like "Eh, I'll never get anything good." I just threw together a bunch of Death Cards in, Double Mark, about 185 HP, and - I got up to Rank Twenty, and I lasted for about 6-7 days up there. Then it plummeted when it had 1HP left. :P

Got gravy pull, and since it's such a horrible card I decided to build an oraclebow. Hey, if I get thumbs down either way, might as well get more. Started with using wings and recluses, but added bonewalls so people can suffer just as I have, as well as making the gravity pulls useful. 4 purifies and 4 SoFos will make any deck good.

49-7 7 days, rank 9 when taking it down, peaked at rank 1.

Earned 1179 in 7 days, meaning 168 :electrum per day.

During this whole time I didn't see a single thumbs up.

Woo, rank #1 in Platinum for the first time, at least for ~24 hours! And the deck is not as lame as most of my other ones which got a high rank. Before it got into the top 10, it had about 50% thumbs up. I never expected it to get this high though because it got five losses rather early on.

Special thanks to
Elite arbiter (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28523.msg533045.html#msg533045) for the Damselfly/SoFre part

I didn't want to make another Jezebel clone so I looked for interesting and powerful elements to duo Nymph's Tears with. SoFre might be a bit OP for a deck with Arena stats but at least it's more elegant than the most hated shards. I put some effort into fine-tuning this and was worried how it would do against SoFo bows - with two early SoFos, it's easy to pillartroll it. The high HP is a must; it takes some time until the field is ready to be blown up as the silly AI prefers to play a shard whenever it can.

Actually the 2 SoDs were added on day 7 to compensate for the low HP, so originally it was 38. It is based on the "Arena Destruction 101" deck with some SoFo and purify added and -1 supernova.

Apologies, but at least everyone knows Firestall is still alive and well in the Arena. Peaked at #5 on day 6, card was Rain of Fire. In retrospect I wonder why I didn't up one more card (probably an RP). It's still technically in the arena at 49-14, rank 391, but I'm taking it down since Firestall with 1 HP is not the most amazing arena deck.

I'm not sure, 52 wins and 1 loss (now 55 wins and 1 loss) seems way too unlikely to for it to be pure luck. Having 40 cards is risky for drawing quanta I know, but the cards in there are so cheap to play it seems a waste of quanta to have 5 less. And I like miracle, especially at high HP's though I replaced it with archangel now its only 136 hp.

Decided to mod my favorite Trials deck. Unfortunately I can't field this one in the Final Battle, thanks to Zblader's halve of crusader xD. Peaked at #41 I believe, but only 14/46 thumbs up.

Played that earlier and thumbed it :)

Stayed in T50 for 9 days, peaked at 13. It was 57/4 before it went downhill. For something as cheap as a Ghostmare, I sure got a lot of thumbs up. o_O

the deck also had a single SoFo (why are these not in the trainer by the way?)
gold league, 180 HP, 2x draw, 20 upped cards

i know it only has 12 upped cards, but i really wanted all the ups that are in there to be in there, but also didnt have any more i could include.
deck peaked at rank 11 with 45/11 and only 2 or 3 thumbs (who wouldve thought, its frustrating as hell to play against).
Took it down at 62 HP now for an hourglass deck which didnt get a single play the whole first day :(

The following was my most successful platinum arena deck. It is a Pegasi-based :light rush and I was actually very impressed about how well it did for a shardless deck. Its max rank was 34-37 and it still works well.

I may not be the first one to say this and will remove this post if I'm not.

I don't like the idea of showing 1 deck to others since then in the end every time you get a oracle card just check here pick deck then come to top 10 how fun is that. It makes arena harder less original and kills creativity.

I am personally careful enough to post original decks only in here, so there is no problem. ;)

It depends on the enemys your deck encounters.

I've tested it now 3 times. A short time after a top ten deck have been posted
here, I had the same oracle card or a card, that was 5 times in this deck.
So I submitted exactly the same arena deck.
All 3 times the deck didn't even get in the top 50.

You can get ideas for a good lasting arena deck here.
But not a recipe for a succesfull one.

Max ups (yes just so I could get the queens upped), 2x mark, 195 HP. Peaked at #12. It was helped by getting a lot of thumbs up, like upwards of 60%. Compliments to will for this one.

Trolly troll troll. Running Discos off 3x mark can't be a new idea, but still got a reasonable number of thumbs. Peaked at #5, was still in the top 10 with 1 HP (it's currently #13).

Deck card was Gnome Rider, hovering around 15th in Silver.
Gonna take it down when the new day starts and my HP drains to 1, but he it goes.
Using Double Draw and Hp increased by 60 (to account for HP loss). Previously I used all pillars rather than pendulums and used double mark power rather than HP boost.

My first deck to get to top 20 in platinum and stay until it hit 1 hp  :)

Somewhat surprising given that it can do nothing against poison dials.

200 HP, 60 upgrades, double draw. Win : loss = 51 : 13, lasted 8 days. Max rank: 8; league: Platinum. It had 4 losses on day 6, it could have reached a better rank if it fought more times before day 7. :(

Never reached T50.  Highest it reached was ~200, I think.
But it's the best and longest lasting deck I've ever made.  I am really proud of my efforts.  Lasted 6 days before falling >500.

Level 23  Silver Arena
