joker deck that wins more than it should (platinum)

enjoy fun :)
Certainly a fun deck and something different for a change. I'd add burrowing shriekers + EQ's to the list of counters though ;)

I had fun but the win % wasn't that great. Neither is the speed so after 21 Platinum matches (7-14, no spins) I called it a day!

lemme track some actual stats.  dont have those new shards to test with, just in case that would be a good way to fight off rushes

loss  pest spam
win    time-based supernova rush
loss   early discord.  rng at its worst
loss   air deck?
loss   5 turn supernova weak pillars  zzzz
win    some fire dragon/phoenix deck
win    some time-creature bow by Tampon
loss   at 6 life turn 3.  poison dragon/spider/weapon rush
loss    some green rainbow weapon lifegain stall
loss    miracle stall.  lost by 1 turn
loss    grab/destroyer rush.  super close, loss by 1 turn
loss    aether lobo
win     a slower, stupider version of my deck :P
win     i survived the rainbow spam!  wooo!
loss    6 turns attacking into SoS...why is this card in the game?
5-10  meh.  probably could use some defense against early rush.  will see how it looks with some SoS included (whenever i get them...dont seem to be rare spinnable or bazaar)

I have no idea why this is working so well. On good days it kicks platinum ass, and on bad days it's still 1 win every ~5 games (still profitable). Warning: Fails against Ghostmare

Edit: I didnt see the other Neurotoxin Deck one page before this, but i dont want to rewrite the whole post. I will try this one soon.  :(

I wondered if any of the new shards are good for farming, and i built this deck (the six grey cards with question marks are Shard of Sacrifice):
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5rt 5rt 5rt 5rt 5rt 5rt 6rt 6rt 6rt 6rt 6rt 6rt 74a 74a 74a 74a 74a 74a 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q0 7qb 7qb 7qb 8pl

The obvious problem is you need 6 (maybe 5 are sufficient too) Shards of Sacrifice, but i got alot of score, electrum and special spins with this deck against platinum, so its definitely worth it (one time beating the first place with EM, i think i got ~4500 electrum from that one).

I dont know if anyone built a similar deck before, but i didnt find one, so i wanted to share this deck (i registered only for this post  :P ). Its excellent against all those rushes, you usually win with an EM, there are only a few things which counter it very well, which are: healing resulting in you decking out (more than one miracle, empathic bonds with alot of creatures, vampires and of course a single purify can shut you down), mindgates (if the AI gets some of your shards, you wont kill it in time in most cases) and fast shutdown decks (if you cant poison them before they drain all your quantum).

I played some games against FGs with this deck too, its not too bad, but imo you then need to modify the deck, and add some silences (and novae or supanovae, probably substituting momentum by chaos power, time towers by entropy pendulums and using a time mark) against all those gods with miracles.

I could add some strategies, if someone needs them, and of course if you have some additional ideas i would appreciate it if you share them.  :)

Edit: I think i win about 30-40 % of the games with this deck, and i think about 50 % of the wins are EMs.

Interesting. There have been two (iirc) main dune scorpion decks made for plat. The main problem is that meta is adjusting to it very quickly (pests = urgh).

ok, try THIS pharaoh deck.  if it doesnt get immediately pest locked, its really scary.   ;)  (spammy black holes aint no fun either, but thats not really a new development)

edit, deck slightly changing  ???  from

doesnt NEED the nightmare, but its rarely a bad card.  might end up not necessary (since deck major weakness is quantum denial, not really card disadvantage...compared to say an immo rush which was weak against lifegain damage (vamp) and card disadvantage etc)

got some nifty tricks to push an extra turn out of pharaoh + SoR + activate ability scarabx2 + heavy armor scarab + activate devour x2.  gives it a chance against aggressive speedbow and fat creatures.
cant justify sanctuary. while its nice to have in play, it just doesnt last.  decided the same from feral bond...its nice versus some poison (ones that dont have heavy CC), but dead card against rushes.  its a tiny band-aid for situations i need an emergency tourniquet.

also, discord is why we cant have any theme decks.  100% automatic loss.  very often getting spammed black hole for 5 turns.  finally get 9 :time?  lol nope...2 and the rest worthless.
Zombie0 gives 110 percent whenever he's in the arena. He's a team player who delivers both offensively and defensively. He has no idea what a Quantum is.

Swap nightmare with sanctuary, and the deck is awesome!

@zombie0 - this deck is good at eating opponents creatures, but has no pc/healing/any significant defense... Scarabs' firepower is miserable and leaves plenty of time, even to purely creature decks, to kick your ass... 1-14 in my tests, gave up after that.

Are you getting spins with this? I remember trying out DoSA against FGs and it kept losing to itself so much I dumped it very quickly even though it was hilarious when it did win. And plat tends to be very hard even for FG decks that are actually good.

never been 1-14 with it, lemme grab some stats to see how it does right now :)

edit  14 game sample  6-8

loss -  no SoR, fire fatties
loss -  last turn fog shield.  card never works like that for me...
win  -  mono darkness.  first pest missed the purple quantum, smooth sailing
loss -  discord black hole spam.  brilliant mechanics, really
win  -  1 point deck
loss -  oty charger from Tampon.  poor luck, beaten it several times before
loss -  darkness.  didnt get opening pillar, or till turn 8.  pointless and stupid loss
win  -  steel golem/shreiker/eq.  heavy armor = hero
win  -  eternity timebow that never played the eternity
loss -  lobo dim shield.  lame deck (lobo goes after pharaoh every time)

win  -  some timebow that played one EQ and one pillar.  EM win =\
win  -  pharoah w/ hourglasses, no SoR?  killed an evil gravity shield :)
loss -  4 hp.  dusk shield is hax (seriously, whats the deal with "40/50%" shield blocking 75%+)
loss -  time destroyer (cool name really)  rewind and destroyers vs no supernova
so heres the deal.  every deck has a weakness, and most combo ones have at least 2.  this deck has massive card advantage (pharaoh + SoR) and can withstand most CC (except lobo).  the heavy armors and explosions intend to splash a bit of counter to common issues (shields/high HP creatures).  when all the pieces come together, the heavy armor allows the deck to pick back up a desperately needed turn vs rush.

unfortunately fire stall is non existent.  there may not be a more solid counter to it imo, too bad it left town.  rewind nightmare has been smarter lately too, pushing more pests to increase the pressure on quantum

in the end, a combo deck needs to SQUEEZE the living bejesus out of quantum resources to keep room for important cards.  this is the combo deck weakness.  if AI focused pharaoh more often, that would introduce another weakness.  the goal of deckmaking is how to have enough quantum to do what you need, and enough useful cards to win to game with that quantum (while not losing)

thats what im using these days.  SoR going to get nerfed (if FG farming can cause a nerf), happy to be using it while its viable :)
Zombie0 gives 110 percent whenever he's in the arena. He's a team player who delivers both offensively and defensively. He has no idea what a Quantum is.
