What exactly is the Arena's "Rating" stat? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=40350.msg500145#msg500145

Sorry for posting what must be an FAQ, my attempts at searching the answer were in vain.

What does the "Rating" stat mean in the arena?

I'm not talking about the "Rank", which measures your position relative to all the other decks in your league.

I mean the "Rating", which is sometimes positive and sometimes negative and always completely inexplicable to me.

Does it have something to do with thumbs up/down?  (BTW, it would be a great addition if we could actually see how many people thumbs up/thumbs downed our decks!)

Rating is how the game determines the rank of the deck you submit to the arena (the one with bonuses, like double draw, more marks, extra HP, and upgrades).

For each win it gains a certain number of points (depending on the arena), and higher points gives a better rank (as well as a few :electrum). Losses deduct points. If your deck ranks a higher number than 500, then it won't be played anymore until you make a new deck. A new deck has a rating of 0, and a rank of somewhere around 250. In addition, if your deck wins, then that's when the thumb voting comes into play, which adds or deducts rating points also.

Also, older decks are weaker because they lose HP every day, and you lose more HP in your deck per day as it gets older.

I also think it would be awesome to see the thumb history of your deck.

The amount of rating points you gain/lose for a win/loss varies.  The numbers are picked so that new decks start at 0 rating and ~250 rank.

Also, getting a thumbs-up gives you more rating for a win.

You can figure out how many thumbs-up your deck got.  In platinum, it's 12 :electrum for a win, plus 12 for each thumbs-up (unless your deck makes top 10).

Thanks for the explanation, guys.  Seems to me it ought to be replaced with thumbsup/thumbsdown counts.
