The quest to defeat the dragon was one of epic proportions, but we were not the only ones to want to defeat the dragon and grab its loot.
To begin with, our first encounter with another team became a war of attrition. Eventually, we left our fungi allies to starve out the treacherous life-elementals of the other team. When we came back from the lair, with our loot, we rejoined the fungi, and saw that eventually, their constant reproduction, and the rebellion of the fungi on the other's side had overwhelmed the others.
After entering the labyrinth, we heard several traps trigger behind us. Another team had failed to disarm a floor-meets-ceiling trap and was severely injured, so much so that they ran away.
The last team we met was the one we followed, hidden, through the maze. They attacked the dragon head on, doing extremely little damage. We stayed hidden behind them, using our shadow spell to move the coins from the lowest parts of the pile to giant bags we carried, whilst supporting the ones above with the shadow they cast.
Furthermore, as the tentacles attacked, they absorbed much of the dragon's attention and ire. We were able to stab him from the shadows with inpunity, staying hidden both from him and the other team, making him think they were the ones causing such damage. Eventually, the strategy worked, and we dealt the finishing blow to the dragon. Whilst the other team gloated on their abilities and the treasure they thought they were about to gather, we sneaked out with bags of gold, and the satisfaction that we were the ones to have felled such a terrifying beast.
Later, they dragged the body to their land, to show their martial prowess. We had one of our agents go to this demonstration. He then showed, to their whole people that the wounds could not have been done by their weapons, and were indeed done by ours, bringing shame to their whole team and giving us a rightful claim on Aurdinas' gold mines.
