SERIES:

We were walking through the city, looking for clues as to where the dragon could be hiding, when we saw this flash of blue. Immediatly, our king turned on us. He slashed at a soldier, severely harming him, before our crusader managed to restrain him. After several days, he seemed better, but once released fled away, presumably to a group fighting for the dragon. At this point, it was obvious the spell wasn't going to dissipate any time soon, so  after deliberation, we decided to use a spell we had spent time and energy to prepare before entering the city, a time travel spell.

Unfortunately, the trap was laid at a critical point in our exploration. We were discussing our options, when  our options, when Amashi, one of our Bards, tripped onto the trap. Immediatly, she ran off in the distance. Knowing her personality, and how hard it is to leverage her true powers, we decided to see how it would play out.

A few days later, we were ambushed by a ragged team of humans, Amashi with them. Her hopelessly bad singing ruined their already low morale and we managed to capture all of them with no casualty. One of them was the mage that designed the trap. He told us everything horrible that happened after Amashi got mindswayed :

To begin with, she joined their camp. And her pet gull followed, that hellbird. As they were planning an attack on our group, the gull tried to take a bottle of beer from a soldier. He flailed, trying to grab it, and accidentally splashed a barrel of wine into the chimney. The resulting fire killed a few sleepers before it could be contained. In the mayhem, the bird managed to escape, sending papers all over the place as she flew near them.

They did not have time to recover them before the second incident. It came when the mage asked her what she could do. She told him that through her deity, she could summon a powerful ally, and that she would  need all the corpses for it. Foolishly, they said why not. She arranged the bodies carefully, creating a gate and started chanting prayers to her mad god.

A giant demon, boar like, emerged from the circle. However, the fire had partially burnt the floor, and with the weight of the demon, it cracked, splitting the circle. But instead of attacking his summoner, knowing it would end the spell, it went on a rampage, ramming through papers, eagerly slaughtering scores of soldiers before the mage knocked Amashi out, sending the demon back to its realm as it was standing over their backpacks.

At this point, they were severely weakened. Some of them tried to push the point that the logical thing to do was to slaughter her and be done with it. But the mage had to reinforce his authority, prove his trap was worth something, and decided to find and attack our group, hoping to get to know why the hell we carried such a dangerous being with us. He thought that maybe she had untapped skill in battle, that she would demonstrate in the fight against her comrades. But, as said before, this ended very poorly for them.

He then informed us that letting her sleep a full night would undo the effects of the trap. We put her under a sleep spell, and he was right, she is back to her.. erm,  normal self. Unfortunately, they had no information about the dragon's current location. They were just hired to keep the town clear of adventurers. But while searching their bags for supplies, we found a piece of paper, describing one of the dragon's minion, a gate closer, and which strategies would work best when he and his group joined them, happened to be in their backpacks. When asking around, the soldier wearing it said it was lying on his bag after the demon mayhem. With this, we will be better prepared in case we face the fiend.

(do read the story carefully, some fine detail)

The madness is in each of us. Close your eyes, sing, and open your webbed wings to the silent winds.
