Jeter has gotten his 3000th hit and went 5-5 in the game including the Game winning hit... can't imagine what the ball is worth. If you find a better video please post it here

I'm still amazed that Jeter got the ball back so easily.
You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.

I absolutely despise the Yankee organization and Derek Jeter has been given way too much credit defensively over the years (5 Gold Gloves, really?!), but I have the utmost respect for him as a ballplayer.  Around 4 years or so ago, my roommates and I were discussing who would be taken first overall if all the franchises hit a 'Reset' button and had to start from scratch.  I nominated Jeter due to the fact that if I could have anyone be the face of my franchise, it would be him.  He plays the game hard every day and never seems to take a moment for granted.  While I still hold no love for the Yankees, this is an amazing accomplishment and the fact that his 3,000th hit was a home run gets him put in the conversation with Wade Boggs, another class act.

In case you were wondering, Pujols was a close second for who we would start a franchise with, but that's another rant.

While I'm not a die-hard Yankees fan, there's one of my favorite clubs to watch due to the nature of some of the players, and since my sister's family moved to New York I've been watching them even more. Mad props to Jeter for having such a successful career.

New topic for this? :) My friend and I had a discussion about this a few months ago - I believe we settled on Ichiro or Pujols, with Jeter and Helton not far behind.

I completely agree with Mith and could not put it better.  I absolutely despise the Yankees and most everyone who plays for them (Im a Mets fan, its tough), but I have great respect for Jeter.  He plays the game the right way, which nowadays not too many people do, and although he is past his prime and overrated, he is a great player.

Baseball. Seriously?
I've never understood anything of that sport, except each game is 5-6 hours or something totally different. :P

And yet, you don't hear any of us mocking what you enjoy watching/playing.  Please move along.

The most impressive part of Derek Jeter is that not only is he such a phenomenal baseball player, he's also an amazing team mate. He is a real leader, for that team (whom I don't like).
