Title: The Avatar Series by Ignion
Post by: Ignion on January 17, 2011, 04:06:07 am
Hi, everyone.

This is my first series! If you like them, please vote in crucible section :)
Also, if you would like to give me feedback on any of my Avatars, please leave them in its thread, not here. You can click on each image to open its thread.

Good News!
Time Avatar made it into Armory!

Avatar: A variant form of an entity.

Elemental Avatar Legend:

Endless time has passed since the creatures of opposing elements began the epic war. Some fought for justice; some fought for faith; some fought for peace; some fought to survive. A countless battle after another was fought from dusk till dawn. Million lives have been lost. As the lost souls returned to their respective elemental creator, the elementilord, elementilords shed tears for their lost children. That was when the miracle happened. Their tears were transformed into avatars, embodiments of elementilord's sorrow, love, and magical power. They are also reincarnations of the lost elemental creatures.
Because they were born of the lost souls and elementilords' wish to end the war, they are void of attack powers. Instead, each avatar was born with a unique miraculous power, a miracle that reflects their wish to bring an end to the war and the sufferings.
:light The Light Avatar thought, "I know! I'll save everyone from pain with my healing power!" Thus was born Divine Field, the ultimate power to heal wounded creatures.
:darkness The Dark Avatar thought, "I shall engulf all pain and suffering with my darkness." Thus was born Darkness/Shadow Illusion, the mysterious power to hourbor those seeking refuge."
:life The Life Avatar thought, "I will end this war by covering the world with soothing forest!" Thus was born Plantation, the synthetic power to bring peace and healing to the world."
:death The Death Avatar thought, "Death, ultimate ending, shall bring salvation to all." Thus was born Sudden Death/Hades' Call, the sacrificial power to escort all to the underworld ruled by Hades."
:air The Air Avatar thought, "If we let weapons fight in our place, nobody will get hurt!" Thus was born Breath of Creator, the miraculous power to animate weapons.
:earth The Earth Avatar thought, "We need to create new planets so that we no longer have to fight over the limited land." Thus was born Mother Earth, the maternal power that reflects the Earth Avatar's dream to grow to become an earth one day.
:water The Water Avatar thought, "I will stop the war by freezing everyone." Thus was born Absolute Zero, the still power that freezes all.
:fire The Fire Avatar thought, "I can stop the war if I exhaust everyone with my heat!" Thus was born Heatwave/Heat Stroke, the scorching power to take away will to fight.
:gravity The Gravity Avatar thought, "Just drop it! There's no more need to attack or defend!" Thus was born Gravitation/Reverse Gravitation, the invincible power to disable fighting powers.
:entropy The Entropy Avatar thought, "If they can't even aim at each other, they would not be able to attack." Thus was born Chaos Field, the mystic power that confuses all offenders.
:time The Time Avatar thought, "I shall end this senseless war by speeding things up." Thus was born Godspeed, the supreme power that breaches into God's domain.
:aether The Aether Avatar thought, "I shall distort the dimensions to weaken the menace and strengthen the weak." Thus was born Deffusion/Perfusion, the unmatching power to turn the table in battle.
The legend says that the avatars will only show themselves to those who possess kindness, love, and will to end the war. Will their dream come true? Perhaps it is in your hands now. Thus, the epic battle of Elements continues...

Cool! You'll have to fix that of the "Evil" avatar or you'll have some tough time with team Darkness :P

Also, first to comment! :D

Thanks, Krathos.

Just finished dinner and finally got around fixing the dark avatar. Now I can rest a bit (hoepfully) lol. I didn't realize it would take this much time and commitment lol

Finally it came. Awesome art and a well did series.  :)

Link the images to their respective threads to make it convenient for the readers. Quote this post know how it's done. Then we have to just click on the card image like this.

I guess you'll have lots more of propaganda if you added a link to the series in every card (I know it's a bit boring), and also in your signature (as many do) :D

Thank you for the helpful tips, guys.

I'll get to it after I go to the gym and have dinner. I've never done that linking image thing, but it'll be good for me to learn :)

Whew! So, I just went over all my threads and made corrections where needed.

As far as I can see, the only remaining ones that need to be modded at this point are Earth Avatar and Aether Avatar.

For Earth, I just need to know what values I should select for its HP gain.

For Aether, I wanna make sure the skill Perfusion sounds ok (one person said he didn't like it).

Once they are worked out, I'm guessing I can request them to move my Avatar series to Cruicible?

Yep :) even though you could post them one by one as well (maybe the curator would approve some and reject some others), who knows? :)

It may be better to move one by one to crucible... I mean, it's too difficult that the series will get too high as a whole, but by themselves, who knows, I'm already imagining some avatars in the game :D

Let's also consider that if Zanz considers adding some of them to the real game, it'd be unlikely for some elements to miss their avatar while other ones have it :P

for the gravity ones, you should say, draws 1 additional card, cos otherwise its useless for fgs and halfbloods

I really like the water and holy avatar.

What I don't like is the fact that the unupped versions of Fire, Gravity and Aether are so different from their corresponding upgraded versions. They just get a totally different use wich is, in my opinion, not what upgrading a card should do.

Also, what does the earth avatar do? Except just sit there on the field as cannon fodder.

Nonetheless, very nice job, but I think it needs some work.

Upgrading cards sometimes change 360° what a card do (look at Puffer Fish), and some people love when that happens.
Earth avatar+Rage Potion or Acceleration rulez (not to mention Earth has synergies with both Gravity and Fire)

Personally, I do not believe in designing cards to play against halfblood or FG. The main purpose of this game is for "real people" to play within its "real rules." Halfblood and FG are "exceptions." They are playing outside of the rules. So, it does not make sense to buff up cards for them. That'd ruin the game.

I see that Krathos already answered (thank you), but I also wanted to make sure I respond to your post. I answered your question about earth avatar in the earth avatar thread (where I saw another post you made regarding your question).

In terms of upgrading, I think it's good to have cards that transform. It expands the horizon of this game. For example, we have shards. A useless rock turns into something powerful.

Another point is that those creatures are "avatars." So, their abilities are more defined by their elements rather than as a creature. I can see how a specific creature or an animal would have a relatively consistent skill in real life. However, avatars are representations of elements. So, it makes sense for them to possess skills that reflect elemental properties.

For example, for gravity, gravity is a force that "pulls" (although physics would say that this is an incorrect word to use). Just as in Newton's apple, it's why things "drop" to the ground. That's why it's skills, gravitation & reverse gravitation, "drop" creature's attack or HP. If you understand the skills this way, you will see that both unupped and upped skills are more "similar" than "different."

Hi, everyone.

I just added a story to my avatars called "Elemental Avatar Legend," which can be found on the front page. The story explains where the avatars came from and why they exist. Just thought it'd be more entertaining. I hope you like it. :)

Be sure to post here when they get moved to crucible.

I still think there should be an avatar generator.

One way I though to do it is to have a spell:
Target a creature on your side of an element you don't currently have an avatar for. The creature becomes that avatar.

I already have a plan for avatar generater  :)

If you read the Avatar legend I made, there's a hint for what those cards are going to be called.

With that said, my life is busy as it is, and it doesn't make sense for me to start yet another series for the time being when my avatar series has not even made it into level 1 yet. So, my plan is to release Elementilord series (ok, I spilled it...) when/if the avatar series actually makes it into Armory.

So, let's see how those little critters do in voting first  :)

Very impressive work Ignion. :) I like the amount of care you've put into the cards, especially within the 'NOTES' section of all of them regarding their stories. They have all been moved up into the Crucible*.

* = Next time you make a series though, don't put the '(part of the ____ Series)' in the title thread, as Card Ideas should stand on their own when being evaluated by the community. ^^;

Kuro = black or sometimes 'dark'
'aitou' = sorrow, remorse, or in this case 'regret'

I think I tend to dwell on the past a lot, which explains my avatar as well. ^^;

I think I tend to dwell on the past a lot, which explains my avatar as well. ^^;
Wow. That's pretty deep lol.
I don't think about past much. I don't know if it's good or bad though. I could be missing important lessons, but I'm too busy living today.

As long as Ignion is going off topic aswell I think I can do the same :D

Anyway, you must be terribly nostalgic then Kuro? I suffer from the worst nostalgia ever.... Listening to 90's music, playing snes games, thinking about my home grounds...

Nostalgia is a curse.... but thank god Donkey Kong returned!

Question to anyone who likes avatars:

As you know, most of my avatars have a very low HP.
I've heard from a few people saying I should increase HPs for avatars.
But, before I make any decisions, I'd love to hear your valuable thoughts on it.
So, what do you think? Should I make this change?
If so, what should they be? 3 (unupped) 5 (upped) maybe?

Just an idea, what if there's a card, similar to nymph tears

I disagree with the avatar spammer. I think is too thrilled, but it's just my opinion :D

Also, I like the avatars with low hp. I mean, their awesome powers should be nerfed if you up their hp.

I thought about a card similar to nymph's tears, but I feel like I'm ripping off someone's idea. I like originality. My plan is to create a series called Elementilords. You can read who they are in my avatar legend. Right now I'm planning to either give them the ability to generate avatars with certain unique and creative conditions (for example, if a fire elementilord is targetted with a fire effect, a fire avatar is born). Another idea is to turn Elementilord into an avatar when it dies.

Thanks for the input Krathos. Yea, I agree with you. That was exactly my thought when I made those cards. But, given that some of them are not doing that well in crucible and there are people wanting them to possess higher HPs, I contemplated for a second. But, I believe I'm going to stick with low HP. Thanks.

Hi, everyone.

Holy Avatar has been modified. It now heals +2 HP each turn, but it costs 2 more  :light than it did before.

And, thank you, DoomedProphet. I'm glad you like him  :)

I'd like to see how it pairs with Sanctuary in an epic MonoLife healing stall.

Not my place to say this, but what the hell...

The Time Avatar's backround art must be changed. The Reverse Time art was changed in game due to copyright issues,

Thanks for pointing that out  :)

Sorry for not notificing sooner, but I haven't accessed this forum in a while. I changed the background.

Also, Time Avatar made it into Armory!

There are still some avatars in crucible waiting for your votes :)

Meanwhile, I plan on reviving the ones that did not make it with brandnew ability so that some day all avatars may be reunited in Armory. This'll be my little project.
