Radically altering the concept... What about a Graviton General (maybe with a lower cost) that gives Ambush to all Graviton Guards (Mercs unupped), with a ability that gives a +2/+0 to a target Graviton? Or even Ambush to all Gravitons (Firemasters included). And the ability could also use different quanta for different effects to avoid the synergy, 'cause it's strong already. Maybe...
to grant +0/+3 to target Graviton (+0/+6 upped) - heavy armor, better survival training...
to make target Graviton invisible (stealth mission?)
to grant a Graviton Momentum (charge!)
to heal a Graviton (mending the wounds)
Just a thought, but it would keep it different from the creature spawnings and allow for some variety and theme inside Gravity...
I do not think General and Pharaoh will get in the way of each other. One is control and the other is blitz.
The General was designed to show how Ambush would be balanced if used by a spawning mechanic. However I do like your new idea as well and I think I will adapt it into a parallel card idea.
