Played a partly upgraded version of the RoL/Rustler/Hope and was schooled after 5 turns.

With the new AI, Seism has become somewhat of a rush deck. I was dead in 5 turns, and that was with having played one Sundial and having a Hope shield (reducing damage by 3) for the last 2 turns.

Hope is better unupgraded most of the time because the +1 :light cost hurts a lot when you reach exactly 7 :light

The gross damage output is high enough, not counting time to play them and Granite Skins. The problem is more like this:

You're two turns behind on quanta (or more) when you're able to play pillars, even if you have the quanta for shields you have to drop them earlier than with most gods because of his sheer damage output, which means you run a higher risk of decking out.

not if he drops his shield before you drop your dragons though im not sure of the likelihood of that.  the slower play of not having the towers and the weaker dragons make the deck pretty ineffective.

if you use the OP aether deck unupped, I'd recommend adding 1-2 pillars, reduce one enchant artifact, reduce one lightning. thus you might be able to accumulate quanta faster to play your dragon early

So, I lost in a very amusing way.  I was down to my last turn on my last (drawn) shield, health bar fully yellow, so I knew I had to draw a shield or die.  I had a fairly good chance of drawing a shield though, based on card counting.

And then it happened:  Seism rewound my pet gnome rider from the oracle.

The moral of the story:  for a (very very slight) improvement of your odds, go use up your oracle-pet before facing Seism  :P  Unless it's something you can get rid of in the fight itself (burrow, suicide attack, etc)

One other thing:  when planning your deck, remember that regular aethar pillars and upgraded aethar towers are different stacks, so if you use both, you'll need to protect both.

Then, once the shield is up, seism's rewind priority change in favor of light emiting creature. He will even favor targeting a RoL over a dragon !!!

If this was true at one time, it is no longer. I just played this:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5bt 5bt 5bv 5bv 5bv 5bv 5c6 5c6 5c9 5c9 5c9 7am 7am 7ap 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7k4 7k4 7k4 7k4 7q9 7q9 7q9 7q9 7q9 7q9 8pn

and well after the Hope shield was up, he was not rewinding RoL, he waited to target the dragon with mitosis. I managed an EM despite this, but mostly because he didn't get a diamond shield up so my RoL whittled him down.

You're right, I've just tested it on the trainer.
But I still managed to beat it 4 times out of 5 (lose because of a sudden rush).

I think if you always play mitosis when you can use the ability on the same turn, it should be alright.
If rewind can be a pain in the back, it also grant you several turn before decking out.

I just lost to Seism immediately rewinding my first two mitosis-rays, I don't think he's done that before? Is this deck unviable now?
